If soul society is really suppose to balance out the hollow world, then the King's guards must be stronger then the average Captain.

I'll take Pichu or Azurill, but not the rest.

That would Ukitake's squad, or 13th squad's previous vice captain/leuteinant, Kaien Shiba. He was killed by a Gillian whom rose up to the 9th Espada, whom then was caught off guard by Rukia and killed.
