Allow me to introduce myself. I am known and feared as the Overlord.

I graduated university with a maths degree and now I work as an Information Technology consultant. By the time August rolls round I'd have been working in the IT field for a year. I'm mainly doing relational database development work at the moment using Transact SQL and customizing Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Customer Relational Management software) for a client I work for.

I am a black belt in Shotokan Karate and have been training for around sixteen years now. I often assist my Sensei with training the younger students and I am also capable at fighting with a katana. I'm also a green belt in Koshiki Karate which is a full contact style utilizing helmets and body armour in competitive fighting. I've only picked this up since the beginning of this year but the sensei started me off at green belt in recognition of my prowess in Shotokan Karate. To compliment my training, I like to go on bike rides at least once a week when I can.

As far as gaming goes, I play the Pokemon Trading Card Game and have been doing so for around one and a half years now, though playing the game is an on and off thing for me. I used to play Yugioh but I stopped because the game just became way too ridiculous for my liking. I also play Pokemon for the Nintendo hand held systems though that is currently on standby until I get my hands on X or Y. I am generally into fighting, racing, adventure and RPG games for the Playstation 3. Tekken, Soul Calibur, Final Fantasy, Valkyria Chronicles and Kingdom Hearts are some of my favourites which spring to mind.

I am generally into the 'heavy metal' genre for music, though I can be fairly open minded and willing to listen to other types of music. Some bands I like include Dragon Force, Disturbed, Machine Head, Metallica, Behemoth, Hatebreed, Evile, Slayer, Killswitch Engage and probably a few others.

I have recently started learning how to play the piano again. I am not very accomplished, it is simply something I wish to develop in my own time and at my own pace.

I used to be quite big on watching anime but with working full time - even to the point of working some evenings and weekends - as well as all of my other hobbies and interests, I just don't have the time to consistently watch multiple shows nowadays. I try and keep up with one or two at a time now which is proving to be manageable at the present moment.

I'm pretty much always interested in meeting with new people, especially from forums. I've been meeting online people for a long time now. It all started when I got involved in the competitive YGO scene where I'd meet people from DuelistGroundz but more recently I've had the opportunity to meet my share of people from Pokecommunity too and my focus has shifted from DGz to PC, since I left the YGO scene.

As far as offline personality goes, I'm pretty renowned for being an enthusiastic individual and just crazy in general. Most of the time I am far more antagonistic online as that's the sort of impression I prefer to portray to the online society. I like to think of myself as a necessary evil.

I lead a very busy life nowadays so I apologize for making this so lengthy, I doubt I'd bother reading through it all if this was someone else's introduction post haha.

What's your favorite Pokemon TCG set? :)

What made you so interested in the darkness?
How did you become an overlord?

What's your favorite Pokemon TCG set? :)

The Team Rocket expansion. Dark Weezing and Dark Dugtrio were two of my favourites back then. The set also came with a lot of cool Team Rocket trainers too like The Boss's Way and Rocket's Sneak Attack. I remember afterwards, they released the Giovanni theme deck which I casually played with for quite a while too. It was pretty cool because the deck focussed on getting evolution pokemon out really quickly with The Boss's Way and Giovanni trainers.

What made you so interested in the darkness?
How did you become an overlord?

I have walked this path of Darkness for a long time now. I suppose I can tell you my story of how I embraced the power of Darkness.

You know, when I was younger I used to get bullied a lot. Long story short, I moved country and did my secondary education in the UK. So I was already different from the get go but even while I was in Australia I was always a bit of an odd child. I always preferred the villains over the heroes in games and movies. When I was a kid it was Dr Neo Cortex from Crash Bandicoot that captured my attention but I've moved through a whole tone of bad guys throughout the years. Back to the UK though, I initially had no friends and ended up spending my lunch times in one of the history rooms, reading through a series of books known collectively as "His Dark Materials".

I eventually found some friends but the bullying didn't stop. I was too passive for my liking so I never really fought back except in one or two extreme circumstances. In the end, I accepted everything. I understood that I was weak and needed power to overcome my enemies and the biggest one of all, was myself. The solution was surprisingly simple. It pinned on embracing the despair that was dominant in the deepest, darkest, depths of my heart.

"A man is most deadly, when he has nothing left to lose"

This transformation was slow. The seeds of Darkness took numerous years to fully bloom. I eventually noticed the changes - both physical and mental. My outlook roughened up - The soft and innocent appearance I once had manifested into something far more intimidating and threatening. My demeanour warped into something truly nightmarish. I could feel the power pulsing through my veins and it felt (and still feels) bloody good. The bullying slowly stopped. They knew something about me had changed and the frequency of attacks continuously decreased until they bothered me no more.

I believe it was during my first year of university that I self proclaimed the title of Overlord. I was playing through a game called Disgaea and for those who don't know, it's about a kid Overlord who basically goes around owning everyone cause everyone is out to kill him and take his title away lol. I guess I was inspired that despite being some short kid, he had some real fire power to him. I'm not a very tall individual either so I think that helped me relate to him a bit more. So yeah, if any of you guys are out to claim my title, just try to kill me.

The power of Darkness comes with a price however. I was on the verge of completely losing my sanity. If it continued, I would have lost my mind and hell; I don't even know what would have happened. Fortunately, there is one major aspect which prevents me from completely losing it. The power of logic stabilizes my mind and while I do think I am pretty insane, I haven't completely lost all reason. As long as I continue to undertake the logical approach, I should be able to keep my mind fairly balanced.

I think that's enough for one post. Despite my change, my true nature is a kind hearted person and while most of that has submerged under the depths of Darkness, some of it still remains.

That's a great set. I should have guessed though, haha. Since that's your favorite, how did you like ex Team Rocket Returns?

Do you just collect, or do you battle? Or maybe both?

Out of all Kingdom Hearts games you've played, which did you enjoy the least?

What is your honest opinion about Jedi?

(lol you don't actually have to answer that one. :p)

Is there anything out there you have a soft-spot for (puppies/kittens/etc)?

Oh man yeah I remember that set. I only got a few boosters from it though so I never got round to building a deck and playing. I remember having the Rocket's Hideout card and I used to stare at it for ages cause I really liked the artwork lol. I had a Dark Tyranitar as well but I didn't have any Dark Energy cards (and back then you could only use four lol) so yeah never built a deck sadly. But that was a great set and if I could go back in time, I'd have loved to have had the chance to play with those cards.

    ---

I primarily battle rather than trying to collect all the cards in a set. But naturally I do have a decent sized collection from trying to get cards to build competitive decks.

    ---

Days, man. Days. It was OK but it was a pretty mediocre experience over all. Playing on such a tiny screen as well, I was pretty disappointed with it. Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance thankfully changed my opinion of portable KH gaming. I just didn't really like the storyline that much either and the battle system was OK but nothing to write home about.

tbh I wouldn't expect you to play Final Fantasy. haha. Which is your favorite?

FF12 is my all time favourite. I only started playing from 10 upwards though. But yeah, I just really got into 12 and it was the first one I fully completed - took out the 50 million HP dragon boss and everything. I really liked the gambit battle system as it was quite mathematical with all of the nested conditional logic involved. You set that up correctly and you don't even have to press a button for most basic set ups lol.

What is your honest opinion about Jedi?

(lol you don't actually have to answer that one. :p)

Darth Alexial, surely you must know that the Jedi are weak! Seeking democracy in a universe where the strong and powerful are meant to rule! Their methods go against the natural order of things. The weak exist to serve the strong, equality is but a mere illusion the powerless use to make themselves feel better.

But really, I think the Jedi (like the Sith Lords) are extremists and both sides could do with taking a leaf out of the others' book.

Don't be ridiculous, I HAVE NO WEAKNESS! I do have a soft spot for most animals, not dogs though. I also have a soft spot for touching / heart string pulling stories and such.

Damn nick, i wanted to ask him about the origin of his darkness and him becoming overlord!!!

Anyway, what's the story behind your username? Also, assuming the bullying part of your story was true, do you think that you learning to be a proficient fighter is just a hobby or is it something that you're doing, albeit subconsciously, to fight off all those past experiences? To gain power, so to speak?

Also, what's your opinion on bands like Slipknot and SOAD?

It's a combination of Dark, Black and Shadow arranged in a dragonic sounding way.

Well to be honest, back then even with my karate training I wasn't exactly that physically strong, people still picked on me anyway. Karate isn't a hobby for me, it is a way of life. It's only in recent years that I've become a decent fighter and by the time I attained my level of strength there wasn't really any need for me to 'fight off my past experiences' because I know I wield the power to drop pretty much anyone who gets in my way. That's a pretty tough question and I'm not sure I can answer it any better than what I've said above.

I haven't heard of SOAD before but Slipknot is pretty decent. I do listen to them once in a while and one of my faves from them is 'All Hope is Lost' or something like that.

Since you were into the YGO TCG, did you ever like the anime or manga? If so, which ones?

Anime was so brilliant! I liked GX the best, very closely followed by the original. After that though, 5D's was pretty mediocre and it's just gotten worse since.

I read a few of the manga, the one where Van'Dalgyon gets summoned and a couple of others.

Oh, wow. You prefer GX to the original? That's surprising. I've been trying to get myself to watch the spin offs, but I legit can't wean myself off the original and abridged. They just don't...capture any curiosity from me, really. Would you recommend GX then? What did you like best about it?

Yeah I know it's a surprise but yeah. Most people I know give a similar reaction as most prefer the first series - which is still very very good, don't get me wrong. I dunno whether I'd hardcore recommend it, I just got into it becaue of 'The Chazz' lmao. Kaiba was cool and all but Chazz had the all black look down and he does have some ridiculously pro moments - ring of destruction to kill four duelists at once while shielding himself with ring of defence haha.

Who's your favorite YGO character then? Counting all the ones you've watched, of course.

Some of your favorite Pokemon cards?

What's your least favorite set of Pokemon cards anyway?

Chazz is definitely my favourite but I also liked Kaiba, Alexis's brother (don't even remember his name) when he was Nightshroud I think that was his alter ego.

I like Hydreigons and T-tars cause they're Hydreigons and T-tars. I also like most Team Rocket trainers. Goop Gas Attack gets a mention cause it's just a funny name. Computer Search is awesome.

I hated the set where they released like, a fire / steel Kingler and had the pokemon with weird typings. I can't remember the set name, holon perhaps but yeah I ditched the Pokemon TCG for a good number of years cause that threw me off.

Oh, the Delta Species sets! I thought they were odd, but interesting all the same. I have a fair bit from those sets actually. Made you have to think differently when playing, really. lol

When did you get back into the TCG after those sets then?

I can see you like Team Rocket, so are there any other evil teams you like? And which do you dislike the most?

You seem like the kind of person that doesn't like the Eeveelutions (I may be wrong though!) but do you have a favorite of them? is it umbreon

    https://www.pokecommunity.com/posts/7022014/

It runs through a fair bit of my TCG history, though there might be some slight inconsistencies in there.

I liked Team Galactic for a bit but none of the other teams. I dislike Team Magma the most only because I dislike Aqua / Magma the most (cause their plans were lame) but at least Aqua are pirates ¬_¬

Funnily enough if you read through the link, I ended up playing with the Eeveelution structure deck for a while, so I do kinda like them, not as much as many other Dark / Dragon type pokemon but yeah they aren't too shabby. Umbreon is probably my favourite but I like vappy too.

Perhaps initially, that may have been the case, to hide away my own insecurities by "beefing" myself up to be something greater than what I actually am, but nowadays my arrogance blinds me and I think I'm an actual all powerful badass. In the present day, I don't use it as a shield, since my self confidence and stuff like that is a lot better than what it used to be. I honestly do think I'm reasonably powerful as an individual, it all depends on what you use to gauge yourself against though.
