Mega Evolutions Or Z-Moves?

So Generation 6 gave us Mega Evolution, where certain Pokemon could 'evolve' into a more powerful version of themselves, with different abilities and more powerful stats. Then Generation 7 came along with Z-Moves, which introduced type and Pokemon exclusive 'super' like moves which where pretty powerful.

Both are pretty handy, but what do you prefer?

I prefer Mega Evolution because they're more unique. For example, many Pokemon can use 1 Z-Move, but unique Mega Evolutions can only be given to 1 Pokemon.

what angie said lol. Also, just as importantly in my opinion, a new cool form for a Pokémon will always be more interesting than a new move animation. They allow for so many more creative designs than just adding a new move. I certainly hope Mega Evolutions will be more prevalent in future games and the Z-Moves will remain exclusive to Alola.

I prefer mega evolution since Z-moves are one-time and not permanent such case you misused the z-moves and certain z-moves are just not that cool (looking at you Z-moves stat boosters) while mega evolution is one-time and remain on the battle which makes the mons more stronger

Would have to go with Mega Evos, being a fan of Op transformations in general. Also because they just seem more special since it lasts for the entire battle and can only be used by a certain amount.

Megas, but that's not to say I totally dislike Z-moves. I think they're a neat little addition. Not as game changing as megas, not completely useless when compared to a normal item. Just a solid addition to the game.

I feel like Mega Evolutions make Pokemon feel special, like any Pokemon can use a Z-Move, but only certain ones can mega evolve, so I often find myself planning a team around a mega evolution, rather than just throwing out a Z-move whenever I feel like it.

I really like Z-moves, but I feel like I don't really use then as much as I would use a Mega. While Z-moves are a decent idea in theory, I don't think they change a whole lot as far as weaker, more overlooked Pokemon are concerned (maybe I'm wrong on this? But this is just from my perspective, though). Pokemon who are strong enough to begin with shine a lot more with Z-moves, while weaker Pokemon don't really benefit all that much. A Mega would be a lot more helpful to those Pokemon, so I'm going with that.

I agree with this 100%.+ Z-Moves didn't reply change the battle scene because with Mega-Evolution, your Pokémon is able to stay on the field for a few more turns rather than a Z-mvoe which you just use it once. There are ways to use Z-Moves to increase stats but its a very tricky and complicated sene that not many want to delve into.

I also feel like that Z-Moves were a way to get rid of the demand of Mega-Evolutions. With Z-Moves, they are universal and are easier to make I imagine unlike a Mega Evolution. With a Mega, they have to create an appealing design along increasing stats, abilities, and etc while a Pokémon's signature Z-Move is just a move.

I like that Z-Moves can be used by any Pokemon, but I do admit they didn't shake up competitive play as much as Mega Evolution. At least I enjoy seeing the trainers do those funny poses and the awesome animations of the Z-Moves.
