3rd Generation MonoColour Challenge

Update # 3

First, I defeated the Team Aqua Grunts at the Oceanic Museum. Later, I finished the Trick House's puzzle. Then, I defeated May at Route 110. Later I arrived to Mauville City and defeated both Wally and Wattson.

TEAM

Marshtomp Lv32: Tackle, Growl, Mud Shot and Water Gun.
Loudred Lv31: Stomp, Uproar, Astonish and Shock Wave.
Zigzagoon Lv3: Tackle, Growl and Cut.

I'll update again when I get the fourth badge.

I did a lot so, in summary, this is what happened.

  • Tried my luck at the Verdanturf Battle Tent (Lost).
  • Obtained Strength.
  • Taught it to Marshtomp.
  • Defeated the Winstrate family.
  • Marshtomp evolved into Swampert.
  • Met Lynette at Fallarbor Town.
  • Caught Swablu.
  • Grinded.
  • Loudred evolved into Exploud.
  • Grinded a little bit more.
  • Defeated Team Magma at Mt. Chimney.
  • Grinded again.
  • Defeated Flannery.

Swampert Lv43: Strength, Growl, Mud Shot and Muddy Water.
Exploud Lv42: Stomp, Uproar, Astonish and Shock Wave.
Swablu Lv31: Peck, Fury Attack, Astonish and Sing.

Well I just started 2 hours ago and already reached the 4th gym, having I bit of trouble with Misty and traversing the Rock Tunnel without using a flash slave but somehow I made it to Celedon. Most likely will grind a bit before taking Erika on but I feel strangely certain that it's capable of taking out the 4th-5th gyms as it is. Also as soon as I get fly rattata will pretty much be box'd and never used again.

Well another update for Brown team. I have taken on Erika with my newly evolved Arcanine and proceeded to kick Team Rocket out of Celedon, Lavender, and Saffron. I beat Koga and Sabrina as well, grinded my team to 50 and sailed off to Cinnabar on my surf slave (since I no longer need cut for a long time I box'd Rattata). Once there I obtained my Kabuto and as of now am training it to Lv. 50.

Current Team:
Arcanine (m) Lv50: Bite, Take Down, Odor Sleuth, Flame Wheel
Primeape (f) Lv50: Karate Chop, Strength, Brick Break, Swagger
Kadabra (m) Lv50: Psychic, Shadow Ball, Recover, Shock Wave

I have now defeated the Elite Four after finally beating Wallace's near indestructible Tentacruel with Earthquake. (Three grass Pokémon against a Tentacruel is a bad idea).

My Swablu evolved into Altaria, finished the third Trick House puzzle and defeated Norman, obtained Surf and taught it to Swampert.

Altaria Lv35: Peck, Fury Attack, DragonBreath and Sing.

1st Update:

Caught a male Pikachu in Viridian, lv. 3

17 levels of grind later - Pikachu ("Pooka") has:

Quick Attack
Double Team

Fought Brock, Double Team Hax'd and Slammed/Quick Attacked his Geodude and Onix to oblivion.
Next up, Mt. Moon - oh joy.



2nd Update:
Beat Misty and my rival, visited Bill.
Pooka is now level 28 - learnt Thunderbolt over Thundersock.

Obtained my next member - female Bellsprout, Route 6 ("Anna")

Team Brown Update:
Sadly this is the final update. But the good news?
I successfully finished the game with the Brown only team, took awhile since I was busy with other stuff after my last one but I came around to finish it. The first few Elite members were somewhat easy for the most part since my guys where only in the low 60's (63 by the end) but their movesets proved helpful. Here are some screen caps to commemorate the moment.

3rd Update:
Team Yellow has blossomed wonderfully. I now have captured 2 new members:
-A male Hypno ("Derren" after the english hypnotist) - Impish natured. (met lv. 11 as a Drowzee)
-A female Sandslash ("Katherine" after the shrew character in Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare) - Mild nature. (met lv. 15 as a Sandshrew)

Levelled everyone up to 42 and cleared everything up to and including Silph. Co, spent the obligatary $500 to get into the Safari Zone and obtained HMs 3 + 4... Now just about to challenge Koga.

Why would you people want to do this crap. This is the worst challenge on here. How are you supposed to get hm slaves when the sprites you can use are super limited. The only one that can learn ALL of the mandatory HM's (except for cut) is Gyrados, which is blue. With most colors, the options are limited to a single type. So you might as well just do a monotype challenge. And why would you want to use a water stone a Staryu the second you get the water stone. You might as well just release it because its not useable without tms if you evolve staryu too early.
 
Right. Due to a small issue I was having with another poster, I chose not to announce I would be doing a Brown challenge on Ruby. Or that I finished it. I did it, and will be providing the video of me beating the elite four with Geodude, Baltoy, and Zigzagoon. (It was also a Trio and Unevo challenge) I'll probably post that tomorrow or whenever I get a chance.
