    [PokeCommunity.com] 7/17 - COTD - Ho-Oh (DP3)

    Ho-oh L.45 – Fire – HP90
    Basic Pokemon

    Poke-Power: Phoenix Turn
You can use this Power once during your opponent's turn, when this Pokemon's HP is reduced to 0 by damage from an attack. Flip a coin, if heads remove all damage counters and discard all cards other than Energy attached to this Pokemon. This Pokemon isn't discarded, but it counts as a Knocked Out Pokemon, and your opponent draws a Prize card.

[C][C][C][C] Rainbow Wing: Does 20 damage x the number of different types of Basic Energy cards attached to Ho-oh.

    Weakness: Fire (x2)
    Resistance: Fighting (-20)
    Retreat: 2

    Rate & Review.

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scan.

    I really like the PokePower.
The attack is cool too; reminds me of the Neo Revelation Ho-oh.

    I guess I would give the card... a 9/10.
Ho-oh is my favorite overall Pokemon.

BTW, the weakness is water, not fire.

I think its a deliberate typo. Pokebeach usually has some errors so that they can prove when someone steals info of their site.

The attack is amazingly slow to build, and not as efficient as it could be. Eitherway the power is an handy bonus. Also the old weakness is a bit disappointing. I doubt this card will see much use.

Hmm, this and garchomp benefit from multiple types of energy. I'm thinking a 4-2-4 garchomp line, 4 ho-oh, and some grass/electric/fighting techs, could be a killer combo.8/10

Am I the only one who thinks that this thing is d00med?

4 different energy for 80 is just inconveninet and still expensive... Garchomp at least got its power to add damage on top of the 70 in *most* scenarios, but Ho-oh will barely do any more damage at a more difficult case of 4 different energies -_- The weakness is pretty horrible, being a x2 instead of +20 like Lugia. Water is usually not bad, but the fact that Infernape is also weak to water, and is something everyone wants some counter against, makes it bad. For all I know, some people may flip to water deck just to beat the crap out of Infernape, and accidentally Ho-oh as well.

Phoenix Turn is its last resort... while 4 (different) energy cards for 80 damage with no effect is rather slow, at least your investment may last longer than it seems with a coin flip. It's also great if you are forced into a corner where you just "have" to send something out as scapegoat to take a brutal hit (like Infernape), or if the opponent's only attack is discard energy... do they really want to discard energy for an attack against something that may be there again with just a coin flip? Heh...

I usually dislike rating cards with a number because there's always hidden killer combos that may suddenly deem a card worthy (or made famous by some winners in a tourney). Also, I have no idea about Pokemon TCG except basic TCG knowledge that is shared between all TCG, so I know nothing XD; But seems like it's the rules... so...

6/10 4 different energy for 80 damage without any effect is just too slow for me... and I hate gambling all my investments on a coin.

What about a rating like the rules say? Honestly, people should be reporting people here who don't leave a rating. It is against the rules.

Oh all right then.. lets say 6/10.. Even though its practically impossible to accurately judge the uses of a card numerically.

But anyway, I pointed out that I find this 'rule' is ridiculous in the 'Suggest It' thread over a week ago.
I would very much appreciate what are the reasons behind it, since I fail to see why adding an unessecary restriction to posting should be enforced, which benefits nobody.
