Because when Butterfree flies, the butter and love becomes free for all the Pokemon to enjoy XD

Why does Butterfree have such a beautiful name?
Because its Butterfree and most of the names created in the first 150 were good and a bit more original than some of the later ones.

I'd say, because being free is what pwetty Butterflies/frees do best! And they're still kawaii no matter what the name is.

Isn't their a joke...Why did someone throw the butter out of the window?....To see butter fly, we can change it to butterfree and claim it as our own XD

Where did the fire appear from in that pic? That seems highly unlikely with them both being bug type...
