Regarding: The new experience system in Black and White

The other thread was getting old, so here's a fresh start! :D

Basically, with this new system, you get more experience from higher level Pokemon than lower level Pokemon - in other words, the exp points you get coincide with the wild Pokemon's level difference, so when training, most of your Pokemon don't generally get the same amount of exp.

How do you feel about this change? Did you notice it? Do you prefer the old system?

Sure the animations were amazing... but the need lucky eggs are starting to get on my nerves :o

I like the new system, it allows weak team members to catch up to higher level pokemon faster. My only complaint is that its very difficult to solo the game now.

The old thread wasn't old :s it was posted in today, how is that old?

It's still on the first page even; why put a new one? I just find it pointless. I also don't see why, if another person had done the same thing, it differs as you would've merged that with the other one, but not this one.

As I said in the other topic seven hours ago, I didn't notice the EXP difference until putting EXP Share on another Pokemon. I like it as it'll be easier to level egg-hatched Pokemon from now on, as someone mentioned that one battle could land you Level 49 right off the bat.

I like the new EXP system, it helps with training. Higher level Pokemon give more EXP, and lower Pokemon receive more.

Because it is made in December perhaps. Honestly why does it matter, its locked and that's the end of it.

*Back to the topic at hand*
I liked how this new system helps me level up lower level ones faster. And for the higher level ones there seems to be a abundance of high level pokemon anyways, so it seems go work for both strong and weak to me.

What is there not to like about training your Pokemon easier?

Anyways, I like it. Got a team full of 60s in a week.

I didn't notice it until I put an Exp Share on a Solosis I had neglected for a while... it caught up FAST. It was around level 19-20 when I gave it the exp share just before the 8th gym, and by the time I came out of Victory Road it was Elite 4 material. Amazing.

Does this new method change the fact that erratic pokemon still need 6,000,000 to reach one hundred, with fluctuating pokemon needing 16,000,000?

I don't really like it, I don't think. D: I guess probably because I'm so used to just picking a place, judging how much EXP I get, and then grinding there, calculating exactly how many battles I need, how long each battle takes on average, and then figuring out how much time it'll take.

I guess it's nice to level up quickly but I hate the unpredictability.

(Assuming I even understand how it works, properly. Regardless I don't like how it's harder to tell how much EXP is going around.)

I dun get it. Experience is already level-scaled in how more of it is needed per level as your level increases. This just changes the CUBIC relation of exp. to level into a QUARTIC relation, which is just getting silly.

I didn't like it at first. I was trying to grind my Tepig for the first gym and it took forever. I've always been at a higher level than the wild Pokemon so it's done me no favours until I beat the Elite 4. Still, I got used to it and it doesn't bother me any more, but I imagine levelling Pokemon in the 90-100 range will be annoying.

I'm confused, I thought in previous games you always get more exp when fighting higher level pkmn because that's what it looked like when I was playing. Guess I was wrong xD

hasn't this system been in all of the pokemon games

No in previous games a pokemon receives a set amount of experience regardless of level difference iirc. This time it is calculated via the difference in levels between the two battling pokemon.

Moon_light: You are correct :p the system just changed now, so it is calculated by the difference in levels between the two pokemon

ok thanks, I haven't even notice it and what does irrc mean

The new EXP system is good for raising underleveled Pokemon, but higher leveled Pokemon won't be happy because they'll be getting less EXP. I would've liked it if the EXP system worked only for lower leveled Pokemon.
