It's been widely discussed that there might be a game where you can travel to ALL known (main-series) regions of the Pokémon world. It's been debated that it will be "impossible" and others have debated that it is "possible". There has been speculation since Generation 3 or Generation 4 of Pokémon that the next game "will have all regions", though none of this has come to fruition yet. So will there ever be a game where you can travel to all regions? Or is that just a pipe dream shared by many Pokéfans?

An idea for a game would be Pokémon Unity, where you play through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Sun and Moon's region, the next region as the original player characters from the regions and the story lines are all put into chapters, FireRed Chapter, HeartGold Chapter, OmegaRuby Chapter, Platinum Chapter, Black Chapter, White 2 Chapter, X Chapter and Sun Chapter and after completing all those chapters, the characters meet up in the new region and start their journey there. It's a bit like Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.

I feel like it is possible so long as they release it on a device that's able to handle all the content, such as a home console. Though, I'm not too sure what the possibility is on them releasing a game featuring all regions, considering that they only tend to focus on a couple of regions per generation.

I know I would love a game like this but I'm not sure it will happen. There will always be more and more regions so the only way a game would come out with all regions is if it was the last. Here's my face when that day comes: ),:

Plus, having only one or two regions per game helps keep each game unique and memorable :D

At one point in my life I would definitely agree with having all games in 1 region but after thinking it though it just wouldn't work. Also I think I'd rather play through all of the generations with 1 character instead of replaying older pokemon games in 1 game.
I think all of the regions in 1 game would be too much. Things would get extremely repetitive for the average player. It would feel strange changing protagonist on a pokemon game with that chapter thing you were saying. That meet up thing doesn't feel very pokemon to me either. I think 2 regions would be more than enough. Like maybe with sun and moon being able to go to Kanto.

Not to mention that it was a special thing for Gold and Silver. I don't think it needs to be a thing again.
They only did it because pokemon was suppose to end after g/s/c.

I am one who really dislikes the idea of an all region game. It wouldn't balance well at all with leveling because no matter what you would be at a crazy high level by the last two regions if you kept the same team you started with. Plus how do you balance trainer's levels for battles that late in the game too. Is everyone going to for some reason have level 80-100 pokemon no matter what just because you made it there last?

I like having a single region per game as a standard and I love my Gold and Silver/HGSS for having two. That was one thing that made them awesome. If they made another game with two regions that would be nice, but any more than that would be pushing it big time. I don't think GF would be able to fill a game with 7 different regions with content very well. Everything you need is already available in one region so having 7 with all the same content is not going to be interesting.

You're chapter idea would not work in a pokemon game much either. With what you are saying it would make the player essentially start over seven times just to play each chapter with a new character. I doubt people are into that over the course of a single playthrough.

I don't feel like returning to Kanto... Again. Johto, Sinnoh, Unova or Kalos would be better, as they can add more to them. I mean, Johto could finally get a Pokémon grave site, in place of the Game Corner. Sinnoh was a huge region, highly diverse, so any new additions should be small, Unova was great too, though it had enough 3D features anyway and Kalos, there could be a whole lot more added in to it, it was a region that left many mysteries unsolved, it felt incomplete too.

I didn't pick Kanto like that, Johto is easily my fav region with Kanto and Hoenn tied for 2nd. There are some theories that Sun and Moon might be in the orange islands. The orange islands is south of kanto. In the trailer they mention it all comes together so I think revisiting the first region would be the most suited. Especially with trading from r/b/y with pokemon bank to sun and moon. Cinnabar island is apart of the orange islands actually.

If they do this, they pretty much have to release it on the wii u, because there's NO WAY he 3ds can contain it all. Mabe something like Pokémon colloseum but expanded, and wild routes?

Unless all the regions are really shallow this would have development hell and unprofitable budgets written all over it.

Plus it'd have to be developed on a home console (which wouldn't work out in Nintendo's favor unless it was forecasted to double Wii U sales) because the size of the game would probably fill up multiple 3DS cartridges.

That having been said, when it comes to the amount of regions put into one game, I say quality over quantity. I'd rather have one content-rich region than a bunch of shallower ones.

When I was younger, I thought a game like this sounded amazing. I enjoyed the two-region aspect in GSC, and was sad to return to a single region in RSE. Over the years, I've given up hope on having a multi-region game, primarily because I have a feeling GF doesn't think it's practical (or cost-effective), but if one were made, I would snap it up in a heartbeat. There might need to be an effort to extend the level curve to get it to work, though, as I don't think level 100 would work as a cap with that many regions, and I don't want to have to replace my team every couple of regions (or lose the experience).

There are a lot of regions now, and it would be hard to put them all together, but it would be neat to see them all connected, just so we could know how they really fit together. Although I doubt a many-region game will ever happen, I would really like to see more multi-region games in the future. Now that we have more space and better technology, it doesn't sound like it would be hard to have two fully fleshed-out regions in the same game, kind of like GSC but without the paucity of content in Kanto. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that they never tried the dual region approach again.

That sounds awesome, but I don't think a normal Pokemon game can do that it would be more like Skyrim an open world game with, well the world is already pretty open, but with more side quests and more advanced game mechanics. It would be awesome getting to talk to all the trainers from he previous games, seeing not just trainers, but breeders and pokemon used in all sorts of context, but I agree with the others that a DS even a DS3 can't contain all that information maybe it could be an open world MMO that would be cool.
