A Hero's Curse

Looking at this girl that seemed to have come out of nowhere almost immediately after seeing the girl with the Golden Light in her hand, Stab thought to himself, What, are we forming the Justice League over here?

Stab's first course of action that came to his mind was to sling-shot himself away from these strangers, but the chattery stalker had a point: he WAS looking for a cure to this curse. He enjoyed the Superhero life that his Abilities granted him, but the over-looming threat of the Curse was something of concern. Traveling with others that have Abilities may just be what would bring them closer to the Cure for 2 reasons he could immediately think of: strength in numbers and if one of them were to fall to the Curse and rampage, the other superhumans would be there to stop them.

Fine...I'll see what these others have to say about the Cure and the Curse...

Stab immediately covered both of his arms in a thick coat of spikes. Normally he wasn't a showoff, but if he was going to be hanging around strangers with Abilities, an attempt at intimidation may establish him at the top of a pecking order if things came to such.

Stab took a deep breath and said, "Good evening Ethis. My name is Stab. Thats what the people have called me ever since I began hero work in this city."

((Alana, i replied to your message and you never replied back...am i acpeted?))

Ooc: Haha, I'm a chattery stalker. And Ethis has a way of over-exagerating things.

IC: Still being in the more "perky" mood, Ethis could still conjure flame creatures. Seeing as how this "Stab" person was trying to show off his abilities, Ethis decided to summon a larger creature of hers, a flame Bahamut.

"Stab? That must be your 'hero' nickname. Suprisingly, I've never heard of you. What do you do? Stop petty theives simply by showing off? No offense or anything." Ethis hated it when other people try to show that they are better than other people. Especially people with abilities. Of course, she wasn't really one to talk, seeing as how she would always try to best them.

What an airhead. No need to be so formal and all. And I bet he just came up with that nickname. ...Oh, I don't need to be so abrasive to these people. They might be able to help me, and vice-versa. Ethis sighed, but she left her creature blazing behind her, just in case. Although, she did make it considerably smaller, as concentrating in something that large was tiring.

"Urm, sorry for being so rude. I'm just not used to being around others. Seeing as how you don't seem hostile, I'm just out of ideas on how to cure this stupid curse. This may sound trivial, but I have lost many a lunch due to it." Ethis actually started to sweat a little and began to twiddle her thumbs.

"So maybe we can ...Sorry for sounding like a nerd, form a party? I mean, we're all trying to find a cure, right?"

OOC: I apologize for the delayed completion of my character's profile, but it is done. ^-^;; I will edit this post with an IC after I receive my weapon or create another post for the IC--whichever you prefer.

[OOC: I was hoping to wait to post until I received my weapon, but I feel as though I might fall too far behind if I continue to wait . . . ^-^;;]

Interesting . . . no wonder the air in this city felt so strange. Qai stood silently in the alleyway shadows cast by Teria's energy orb, currently in ghost form and unable to be seen by any except other spirits. As he watched the group in silence, an inborn light flickered in the back of Qai's dark eyes as images of fate and death danced hauntingly through his mind and about those he observed. Closing his eyes to halt the visions, Qai wordlessly adjusted the strap of his backpack. It's unusual to find so many people with Abilities gathered in one place--and in an apparently unarranged meeting, too. If my visions are correct, this won't be the only time I'll be seeing this group together, either. Opening his eyes, Qai steadied his gaze and momentarily attempted to disgregard the images of the future that hovered, faded, and shone like the last rays of sun on a restless sea. Right now, they don't need to know of my Abilities or even of my existence. Still, I think they'd be worth following for at least a little while . . . These ones have an interesting future ahead of them.

Teria watched Ethis and Stab talk without joining in. Both gave a display of their powers, neither of which impressed her very much. Then again, her powers were nothing special either, quite tame compared to the others really. Finally she spoke, "My name is Teria Yin, occasionally called Skylark. I can create wings for myself if I wish so no doubt I was what you saw earlier, Ethis," she paused to consider her situation for a moment. She did want to find a cure to the curse and she had been looking for others with Abilities to help her. Forming a group with these two would certainly be a good move. The only question was, could she trust them?

Eventually she spoke again. "So, I assume both of you wouldn't mind sticking together for a while? A group would have a better chance of finding a cure than a single person. It would also be safer to travel together."

OOC: Sorry about not getting to you about your weapon earlier, Kogenta. You get a scythe. SilverTail, yes, you're accepted. Just be sure to run over your posts with grammar check and work on capitalization.

Ooc: Aren't you guys forgetting Erureido? Oh, you don't think that a flaming Bahamut is impressive? ~https://bahamutoriginel.free.fr/Bahamutzone/Bahamut%20(36).jpg Nyah, my own nature leaking into PokeCommunity via an RP. :P

Ic: "I agree one-hundred percent! Three heads are better than one! Three people with abilities are no doubt better than one, too. ...But, where would we start, anyways? I don't know about you guys, but I don't have a clue what we should do." Ethis felt that she was losing her perkyness, and her Bahamut sort of froze-over and disappeared.

Maybe I can't even trust them, Ethis thought to herself. Oh, but I need help. I can't think of what to do by myself. I've been trying for about a week, and no luck on anything. And this might be a once-in-my-most-likely-short-if-I-don't-take-this-chance-life opportunity here. So, might as well go and have fun with it.

Ethis gave Stab a sly grin. "So what about you, Spikey? Like it or not, that's your name from me for now on."

Razz walked out of the dance early, it had begun to get boreing, and she was starting to feel weak. She let her temper show a bit as she yelled into the silent dark. "Why did he have to curse me! I never did a single thing to him!" She shook her head and gained control of herself again.

Razz continued to walk, this time she decided to go through the city. As she walked she could here people talking. All of a sudden she heard something about a group and a cure. 'They just have to be talking about the cure to the curse!' she thought. She ran towards the voices. They were about a block away.

When she reached the group, she stopped. 'What if they weren't friendly.' she thought. She shook it off and walked toward them. "Hello! I happended to have overheard something about finding a cure. I was wondering if it had to do with the cure to the curse that was put upon those with Abilities?" I asked.

Possibly in response to being called 'Spikey,' Stab immediately detatched all of the spikes coming out of his arms, falling to the ground like an armful of twigs being dropped by a tired woodsman. This Ethis was starting to get on his nerves, but after witnessing the great fire beast she had created, he chose to hold his temper.

Before Ethis could deliver a witty comeback to Stab removing his spikes, a familiar sound entered his ears. A sound that always meant excitement and something to do: a police siren. Whenever looking for a wrongdoer, Stab always listened for Police Sirens, if not just to make him aware of the crime so he can beat the cops to the criminal. Stab stretched his neck up into the air and enlarged his ears.

Hmmmm...it came from...that way! Vertison Street, thats been quite the crime hub lately...

Stab resumed his normal body composition and said to his newly-recruited 'team mates,' "Sounds like we got trouble on Vertison Street. Up for a crackdown, team?"

Team...that gives me a sudden feeling of confidence just saying it...

"Haha, I've got a new one for ya! The super spikey, super stretchy, RAG OF SHOWOFFNESS! ...Sorry. Couldn't help it. ...And don't take that personally. I'm pretty bored right now. But I'm up for whatever idiot who thinks that there isn't anyone with abilities left, or that those that are left are wimps." Ethis immediatley pulled out her Mbox and put the headphones on. She decided that "Enemy Attack" from FFX would fit the mood.

Oh, you're not going to go anywhere being all gloomy and by yourself, so might as well let them know a real side of me. She tried to get her fire power back, but her body remained chilled. Oh no, she thought to herself. I'm in a group now, and I don't know these people at all, other than a few names and that they have abilities. Crap. I guess it's ice power for now. Better not let Spikey find out I can't use fire. I'll say he's not too happy with me now. ...Curse whoever thought it would be funny or good to make me make friends to use one of my more powerful abilities! Oh, at least I'm alive...

"Oh, and, Little Ms. Eavesdropper over there. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're cursed, too, looking for a cure. And just in case you haven't caught my name, I'm Ethis Kageryu! May I ask your name? Most people would rather not go by 'Little Ms. Eavesdropper'."

Kanu sat comfortably against the edge of the paved path listening to the discussion that had begun surrounding the golden light. He sat pleasantly out of sight listening to the group's voices while a steady wind begun to rise. A cure for the curse? Kanu thought wonderingly. Is it possible? He continued to sit listening to the group's discussion when something caught his attention.
Kanu turned his attention towards a dull alleyway that was shadowed by the lead girl's light, Teria. He watched contently into the darkness but could not see anything out of the ordinary. A faint presence surrounded the darkness of the shadows which made Kanu suddenly cautious. That's strange, I thought I felt something…

The sound of another teenage girl's voice, Ethis, caught Kanu's attention again. There appeared to have been an unwarranted hostile greeting between the girl and another teenager called Stab.
Kanu shook his head with a quiet smile. He knew that each of the teenagers had some form of Abilities and knew that people who obtained Abilities were generally very serious. From analysing the group however, Kanu could see the youthfulness of each character and enjoyed their energetic company.
Looks like a fun bunch. He thought, smiling happily. But I think I'll wait a little longer to see if I can hear more about this cure… Relieving his hold against the two daggers tied to his trousers, Kanu returned to a more relaxed position and continued listening to the group's discussion.

((cool!....but...whats my weapon?))

I was laying on a branch in the tree outside my house, fast asleep like usual.I was wearing my usual black shirt witha crecent moon, and the same went for my shoes, but in the dream world, believe it or not, I was just a normal kid, going to normal school and facing a normal life. Sounds boring, dosn't it? It wouldn't if you were faced with the curse me and every man and woman in spandex in the world have. Im not saying that we wear spandex, im saying were supers, muties, whatever you prefer, but I'll tell you one thing, if you were me, this would be the life you want.

{Ooc: SilverTail, do you have to RP in first person? Everyone else is in third, so it would make more sense for you to be in third, too. But, whatever. For some people, third person isn't their forte.}

OOC: SilverTail, you get an axe.

IC: Teria watched the events around her play out with interest. Another girl joined the group and Ethis, as seemed to be becoming her habit, gave the girl a nickname. She smiled at the antics of the girl who, in her opinion at least, was just a tad bit crazy. Not that that was a bad thing, of course. She introduced herself to the newcomer then became quiet again, looking around until the sound of sirens alerted her to a nearby police car. Stab immediately took on the hero tone and asked if they were ready to fight. Teria made a face of discontent.

"I would rather not bother my self doing something that the police are perfectly capable of doing. I have never had the desire to go off and become a superhero. Plus there's the fact that I'd rather not have everyone knowing that I have Abilities, particularly right now." Even as she spoke the words, a twinge of guilt and longing hit her. She did like to help people, no doubt about that, she just didn't want the hassle of being a superhero. Once you entered the profession you couldn't get out.

OoC| Uh, what happened to Jason when he landed near you, changing his abilities?

Razz could here the girl laughing in her mind. She smiled. "Sorry to have eavesdropped, but it's kinda one of my abilites, I heard all of you talking a block away." she replied defending herself. "My name is Raspberry, or Razz. I prefer Razz. Nice to meet you Ethis."

The boy named Stab had said something about trouble on some street. "Are we going to stand around talking or go fix the trouble?" Razz asked. She was getting a bit excited to find so many people with abilities as well. Her parents wouldn't know she skipped out on the dance to help other people. She turned her eyes black and formed flames in her hands, showing she was ready to go.

HE yawned and heard the sirens in his sleep, shifting his ears away from the noise, wanting to stay asleep, but the urge of wanting to do something else, something exiting was much more powerful. "well..." he said, sitting up "might as well see whats going on." He jumped down and landed on his feet, starting to run twords the sirens. And I was having such a nice dream... he thought to himself, continuing twords the sirens.

Ooc: *Midnight claps her hands at SilverTail.* ...Hey!! What happened?! Why'd this all of a sudden die!?

Ic: Well, a little competition against teammates never hurt anyone. When I can use my fire abilities, she'll see what a real fire user can do! Mwahaha! ...Er, yeah... Ethis thought as she saw Razz, now Fruit Flambe in her mind, produce flames on her hands. Ethis decided not to try to show off, as that has a way of making people dislike you. She decided to simply wait until Spikey did something, rather than charging in head-first. Let the little Hero-boy "do his thing."

"So, anyone else going to go? In other words...Who wants to show-up those donut-eating slackers?" Ethis was pumped alright, but no matter what she did, her fire power wouldn't come back. Oh, I can fight with needles and shield just fine...Stop being so obsessed with your fire. Ethis started to form a mental chart, having her powers and how they were accessed.

Ice is the basic one. Then, when I'm by myself, if I get pumped, then I can use my fire. But, if I'm in a group, then I have to know something more than a name about them, and be on "friendly terms" with 'em. And I also need to be excited. ...Then there's that other one... Oh, let's do something productive. Let's go kick some idiot arse!

"If we just sit around, the donut-munchers will either be A, all dead, or B, the guy they were after would have gotten away! So, all in agreement with me, say 'I'." Ethis didn't really like being the leader, and she certainly didn't want her teammates to think she thought she was. She decided that she would lay low after this, but still be active enough to befriend her teammates.

OOC: Are you still taking Sign-Ups?

Name
Takashi Wulong
Nickname
Rolven
Age
19
Gender
Male
Height
181 cm

Description

From the top of a strong neck, jet-black hair bowls neatly over his head, forming a tall hedge of dark spikes at the brink of his brow. A low ponytail, fastened with a red band, hangs halfway down his back. Rolven does all he can to keep his hair in order. He takes care to keep the thin, black sideburns trailing down his ears, outlining his jaw and meeting at the centre of his chin as trim as possible. Despite his efforts, ever so often, a stray bang will dangle freely between his eyes.

His dark, somewhat bushy, eyebrows have a natural slant towards his nose. He has a pair of narrow, deep coffee-brown eyes that persist in a dull tone even in the presence of radiant light. He rarely wears a smile on his well chiselled features, often giving the impression that he is either deep in thought, or bored.

The tall collar of his white, sleeveless shirt encircles his neck with a close, yet loose, grip. The shirt itself extends to two, thin tails below his waist, each reaching either the back or front of his knees. He wears baggy, black slacks that are tucked tightly into his steel-toe boots at the bottom. From underneath his white shirt, a long black sleeve runs the length of his left arm. He equips long azure gauntlets to each of his hands.

At a little over six feet, Rolven's figure is well-toned with muscle, though more slim than brawny. His cautious poise is clearly evident in every step he takes, constantly expecting battle.

Personality

Rolven's addiction is that with his own thoughts and guesses of the future. He attributes his disinterest in mindless banter to his upbringing, which he rarely ever mentions. He speaks only when necessary, occasionally when spoken to, but never for the sake of sharing emotional stories or 'bonding'. This is what renders him difficult to befriend, not that friendship is particularly of his interest anyway. Most of the times he prefers to indulge in his own thoughts and pay little attention to the people around him. The typical first impression he leaves is that of arrogance and insolence. Still, he doesn't let what people think concern him. To those who hate him, his response is a grunt, and to those who find him capable of friendship, his response is a grunt.

Ability

(I) Trance: Rolven's body is engulfed in a sapphire aura. In this state, his speed, strength and jumping capabilities are enhanced greatly.
(II) Barrier: An invisibly thin, ghostly layer wraps around his entire body and protects it from physical injury. This does nothing to reduce the pain inflicted on him however, and the barrier can only be held for short amounts of time.
(III) Flash: With a flash of his eyes, Rolven can tidy up and mend to perfection any clothes that he is currently wearing as well as his physical appearance.

Weapon

Double-Bladed Sword
