Suggestion: A more, mature sub-forum

Now I know that this is a site, which promotes Pokemon, a children's card game and I've seen this executed really well on other sites, so I thought it'd be a good idea to have here.

A mature sub-forum. Not like, say you have to act mature, but for those who are older and want a forum where restrictions for things, such as topic choice and vulgar language isn't as heavily layed down there. I would think it would be like Other Chat, but for those older, and adult. You would have to be a certain age to be able to access the sub-forum, and stuff you wouldn't usually be able to talk anywhere, for being something not kid-friendly would be allowed to be spoken here.

It's happened before. The T-Dome. It was a mess pretty much (from what I've read/seen) and people ended up lying about their age to get into there. So pretty unlikely it'll happen again :(

Well, if this happened, I'd prefer, rather than age (for reasons stated), that you have to be deemed mature by a staff member to gain access to the forum. I do support it, though. Just because the T-Dome didn't work out a few years ago doesn't mean this idea should be shot down because of it every time it comes up.

That sounds like a massive chore for everyone involved in the matter. Before that you have to come up with some arbitrary definition of 'mature' for classing members that won't end up varying based on what each person involves thinks maturity should entail, then sorting out everyone else's opinions on who's 'mature' enough to join the secret club.

Besides there's always the IRC to talk about mundane **** in a free-for-all setting.

Considering PC's memberbase is even more immature than it was four years ago, I highly doubt a T-Dome refresh would work now either. It's been discussed countless times since the T-Dome died, and I can say with pretty good certainty that it won't happen in the forseeable future.

I have heard of this T-Dome vaguely in the past, and must've forgotten about it completely when making this thread. I thought it'd be a good idea to have a place where more mature members could go to talk about more mature topics.

I am liking the idea of being approved by staff though. That way you can't even lie about your age and get in.

I can't even imagine what sort of threads would go in it, without jumping straight to the obvious. And if that was the case, there wouldn't be much discussion as most of the thread viewers would only be able to type with one hand.

No? According to our global rules, porn, nor links to ROMs are allowed (and hentai), however the forum would contain discussion of such things. :x Considering we ban those who do post porn in other parts of PC, the same would apply to the hypothetical T-Dome in this situation.

On that note, religion and politics is also considered "mature" but since they're covered by OC, I don't see the point of this "mature" forum.

We have plenty of mature topics and OC...Sex, religion, drugs, death, etc. What else is there to talk about on a pokemon forum? The next level up is posting porn and shouting vulgarities at it (see: 4 chan)

There are plenty of other mediums on the internet for that type of stuff, and something tells me that PC shouldn't be one of them :(

Erm, I'm not sure about this...since I believe that every mature topic disscussed at the Other chat forum were discussed maturely was because of well...maturity.

I don't think its a good idea since OC covers it, plus with the Staff decide whether your mature enough, people can act really mature through VM's and certain threads. But can act mature when they want to.

From what I've heard, the premise is basically "what if every Pokemon was made of sex?" It's supposed to be better than it sounds, and I guess I shouldn't judge it without having read any of it, but...Well...I'm judging it anyway. Oh, well.

To be blunt, probably alot of threads asking about virginity and such.

And boys and whether or not we actually have cooties. Which we do.
