And back to a song within the last decade! =p Another Australian musician in Pete Murray, and another song not played on the radio (or leastways the ones I've listened too... they *do* like Pete Murray over here, only they only seem like a few select songs of his which they play too often at times).

I'm surprised this doesn't get played, but ah well.
One strength of this song is its arrangement though. The beginning part is already nice to listen to, and then you have a brass section that accompanies it well. And then it builds up again with all the instruments coming in at once, before it softens for the verses. Then back together for the chorus, with each instrument getting their own little part here and there as well. It just... works. That and by themselves they sound nice too, such as the guitar and brass. Certainly my favourite Pete Murray song.
As for the lyrics? I found them more interesting after hearing the claim that it's a Take That? But to who? Why, a certain George Bush. =p Yay song with sudden political connotations? I suppose the video helps (although it doesn't go and use the previous president in it), but I first heard it without it, so.

People
This is what I say tonight
Messed up
After that I'm much too bright
You all just sit here smiling and I
Cannot control myself
when I know I'm right
Oh and I can't help you tonight
Here it comes
Falling down on your face
Sometimes I just feel you're out of place
Hey George
I think I can help you now
Remember
You brought this upon yourself
You all just sit here smiling and I
Cannot control myself when I know I'm right
Oh and I can't help you tonight
Here it comes
Falling down on your face
Sometimes I just feel you're out of place
You always end up with egg on your face
You all just sit here smiling hey
You all just sit here smiling hey
You all just sit here smiling hey
You all just sit here smiling
Hey George
I think I can help you now
This is what I say tonight
Messed up
After that I'm much too bright
You all just sit here smiling and I
Cannot control myself
