Waazzup!
As a kid, Pokemon was my life. Whether it was with the anime, card game, action figures, or the cartridges, Pokemon was the center of my life throughout most of my early childhood. But for some reason my passion for Pokemon just burned out. The last games I played were Emerald and XD Gale of Darkness. Emerald being my favorite, I played the hell out of that game. I had a full pokedex and I had a fair amount of Pokemon at lv 100, which were trained the legit way not with the rare candy glitch. I left Pokemon around the same time I got my PS3. Throughout my teenage years my PlayStation and Xbox became my only gaming consoles and I forgot I ever had a gameboy. But a few months ago I got hit with a nostalgia wave and my passion for Pokemon came back, Though, I was lacking a DS to play the new tittles I was able to get my fix from roms and Pokemon Showdown. I never knew that there was a such a talented community behind Pokemon, creating really amazing roms and websites. I'm currently playing Ash Grey and loving it, on the other hand, when I get on Pokemon Showdown I do get a bit frustrated, I was used to playing against predictable AI, playing against another person definitely presented it's challenges. Trying to learn 3 new generations and tactics can be difficult at times, but I still really enjoy it.
Coincidentally, around the same time I got hit with the nostalgia wave I was thinking about taking on the daunting task of creating my own game. Though, i'm not making a rom hack, but instead building the game from scratch. In the past few weeks I was able to learn the basics of programming, as well as creating the story, characters, and locations for the game. I chose to make a Pokemon game because it somewhat of a simple game to make, yet there are some really difficult elements to it. I'm not doing anything for the whole summer, so I have allot of extra time on my hands.
By joining this community I hope to not only share my recently ignited passion for Pokemon, but also develop some skills in online battling and game development, all the while hopefully making new friends. Sorry for long introduction, but that's-ah me! Vastitude!
