A New Beginning

    Waazzup!

As a kid, Pokemon was my life. Whether it was with the anime, card game, action figures, or the cartridges, Pokemon was the center of my life throughout most of my early childhood. But for some reason my passion for Pokemon just burned out. The last games I played were Emerald and XD Gale of Darkness. Emerald being my favorite, I played the hell out of that game. I had a full pokedex and I had a fair amount of Pokemon at lv 100, which were trained the legit way not with the rare candy glitch. I left Pokemon around the same time I got my PS3. Throughout my teenage years my PlayStation and Xbox became my only gaming consoles and I forgot I ever had a gameboy. But a few months ago I got hit with a nostalgia wave and my passion for Pokemon came back, Though, I was lacking a DS to play the new tittles I was able to get my fix from roms and Pokemon Showdown. I never knew that there was a such a talented community behind Pokemon, creating really amazing roms and websites. I'm currently playing Ash Grey and loving it, on the other hand, when I get on Pokemon Showdown I do get a bit frustrated, I was used to playing against predictable AI, playing against another person definitely presented it's challenges. Trying to learn 3 new generations and tactics can be difficult at times, but I still really enjoy it.

Coincidentally, around the same time I got hit with the nostalgia wave I was thinking about taking on the daunting task of creating my own game. Though, i'm not making a rom hack, but instead building the game from scratch. In the past few weeks I was able to learn the basics of programming, as well as creating the story, characters, and locations for the game. I chose to make a Pokemon game because it somewhat of a simple game to make, yet there are some really difficult elements to it. I'm not doing anything for the whole summer, so I have allot of extra time on my hands.

By joining this community I hope to not only share my recently ignited passion for Pokemon, but also develop some skills in online battling and game development, all the while hopefully making new friends. Sorry for long introduction, but that's-ah me! Vastitude!

    Hi there buddy!
Hope your game turns out great. I have also tried both pokemon showdown and Pokemon Online it's not easy I'll give them that ^^. If you are looking for inspiration for your story I suggest having a look at
Pokemon mystery dungeon: Exploreres of Sky, That game presents a very good story! Hope you enjoy your stay!

    smell ya later ^^

    Sup bro!

I never played the mystery dungeon games, though, they do like they're pretty fun. I came along this sub reddit where everyone was talking about how amazing the story was. I never really found the story of the main games really interesting, but the mystery dungeon series looks cool, i'll definitely check them out. Thanks for the nice greeting.

Game making is definitely very tough and time-consuming.. I really do respect people who can go all-out on that and create something wonderful without losing motivation along the way. As someone who originally joined PC in 2006 thanks to all the lovely fangames I have these people to thank for helping me discover the forum, aha. Good luck on your project and welcome. n~n Looking forward to seeing you around, Vastitude, so make sure to stick around, yeah?? :)

It definitely is a difficult task to accomplish, but i really excited about it. I saw all the amazing fangames coming out of this site, so I finally decide to join it. The Creative Discussions forum is really amazing, i'm enjoying lurking around there.

@Archy & @Chicken Fingers, thanks for the help. I'm building this game so I can hone my game development skills, but I really appreciate the help. I'll be posting something on the game in the next few weeks. Thanks for the help and kind welcome.
