The pokémon games or anime never really deal with this, as all humans live in a world where pokémon also live. However, the PMD games had the protagonist be surprised when a pokémon first came up and talked to them (in a language they could understand) and to draw some parallels: in the digimon anime we see kids meet monsters with strange powers for the first time.

But what do you think would happen if a pokémon - any pokémon you prefer to imagine - would suddenly appear in front of you in real life, right now? In our real world, where animals live and no pokémon can possibly exist according to the science we know.

What would be your reaction and first actions?

I would first start wondering if I'm dreaming, and would test by pinching myself and whatnot. If it's not a dream, I would then proceed to pat the Pokémon. If it's friendly and doesn't react negatively, I would continue patting and try to befriend it. I would definitely keep it in my house, since there are no other place where it could safely stay. Once everything's settled, I would show it to my parents and allow them to give some idea on what to do. :P

    The initial reaction would be

    AWESOME.

And then- depending on what it is- run like hell.

I wouldn't stick around to test a Steelix's temperament, for example.

If I saw an actual living Pokémon in the real world, I'd be going "what the?" to myself, stare at it in disbelief, and keep it to myself-for if I told anybody, they'd be just as shocked as I would be, and they probably would not even believe me (in fact, I probably wouldn't even believe myself seeing one!)

I'd prefer if it was a small, not too dangerous pokémon that appeared. I'd still be terrified, most likely, since I freak out every time I see something that could be the least but supernatural. And a pokémon certainly would be O.o

If the pokémon didn't kill me and nobody else noticed though, I'd probably try to keep it as a hidden pet. I'd probably have to tell my flatmate, hm. And oh, I could take it out to live with my family on the countryside. After a while though, I'd probably set out to discover if there were more pokémon in the world or if it was just mine. And for some reason I keep imagining a Totodile, even though that's not a pokémon I'd want for real, haha, it would bite my hand off I bet. Or chew up my furniture.

If the Pokemon wasn't hostile or dangerous looking then I'd definitely approach it :3 Probably slowly would be best; treating it like a wild animal and moving forward with caution as to not surprise it. Honestly, after my initial reaction of skepticism, I'd probably die of cuteness depending on which Pokemon it would be. If it's one of my favourites then I'd take it into my arms and give it a bear hug >3< Would probably keep it as an additional member of the family~

Assuming that they would very hyper-realistic because they now exist in our world and thus they would look very cartoony, my first initial reaction would either be me freaking out because they would look freaky or weird, or encounter a normal or cute looking Pokemon and be like "What the hell is that?!"

From that point if they would end up attacking me, I would either end up severely injured, or dead. So not much I can do, but if for any reason I would survive or live then I would attempt to befriend them, until Japan makes working Pokeballs and such, so I would basically just wait for that to happen. Then the pokemon "Wars" will start, basically WWIII, then lots of things will happen, maybe things like the extinction of the human race.

    It would be cool.
