in both the anime and the games there are many references recently to Johto, the biggest most obvious reference that caught my eye was the return of the three Johto starters as key charachters in the the 12th movie, there are also many refereances in the games however this is not the place to discuss that, has anybody else noticed anything in the anime that might refereance to Ash's return to Johto after Sinnoh?

I think there's still plenty of room left to explore Sinnoh even after the Sinnoh League is over. It's been heavily hinted that an Elite 4 challenge could be coming soon since almost (if not all) of the E4 members have been introduced, and Cynthis is a reoccurring character. There's also the Battle Tower/Frontier that could be done.

While there are references to Johto in the games and anime, there are also those to Kanto and Hoenn. I think it's just because the people making it are just respecting previous continuity and recognizing that there is a history.

As for whatever happens in Movie 12, the events of a movie usually have little to no impact on what happens in the anime. So I wouldn't really count anything that happens in a movie as hinting at a return to Johto.

I agree with that notion as well, and agree with you that there are tons more to do in Sinnoh, however after the E4 I have a feeling Johto will be coming up, also remember that although the battle frontier was featured in Hoen in the games it was placed in Kanto in the anime, also to coincide with the return of Kanto to the games, I have a feeling the next frontier will be in johto along with the next set of games being remakes of Gold and Silver

I disagree in almost every movie there has been a preview to a pokemon that would either soon be caught by a main charecter in the anime as well as revealing of new pokemon of the next generation

Debuting Pokemon, sure. But the plots of the movie are RARELY, if ever, referenced. Specific Pokemon, characters, etc... from a movie usually stay in the movie and never to the main series. The exception is Movie 1, which is directly tied into the anime continuity, and vague references, such as Dawn's item she got in Movie 10, or the reference to "Aura" in the Ranger story in D/P.

and ash's aura...but you seem to misunderstand me, I do not think the same charecters or plot lines will relate to the 12th movie however I do feel that it is a hint towards the return to Johto in the near future

If Ash wins the Sinnoh LEague...then I think he'll challenge the ELite Four...then sometime if they introduce the Battle Frontier again it might be placed in the Johto...

but yeah, if there is a GSC remake then the group might return to Johto...

There have been hints in Movie 12 trailers but it seems silly to speculate at this point. Until an announcement is made, it's best to leave this kind of speculation alone.

As much as I dislike the idea of returning to Johto anyway, I'll hold my tongue for the sake of taking out my epic rage upon the topic on you. Suffice it to say, I think the idea is pants-on-head retarded, and only people who desperately cling to nostalgia (which is a lot of people these days, and there's nothing really wrong with that) would think it's going to happen.

Sure, the Johto starters were mentioned, but honestly, if they were going to plan to go to Johto, they would've, to travel with May on her Contest run of Johto. It seems as unlikely to happen as the G/S/C video game remake.

Will anyone realize that the idea of making Fire Red and Leaf Green was to fill the Pokedex for the Advanced Generation and not to satisfy people who enjoy the old-school games?

Besides, Johto was easily the most pitiful saga of the anime, as well. All of Ash's Pokemon were ridiculously useless, except for a select few (Donphan / Heracross, off the top of my head). Going back there wouldn't solve much. =|

Can we please take these sorts of discussions to the actual thread on the remake? This relates to it, anyway, since, if Nintendo release the remake (which I wouldn't totally be pissed about, I just wouldn't baww if they didn't, not at all), they're going to make the anime detour there just like they did for the Kanto Battle Frontier. Continuity, people! :S

hey dude dont be upset, I agree the johto saga wasent great and it sorta ruined misty, but, maybe they can make good use of it this time, I enjoyed the return to Kanto I would enjoy the return ot johto again for nostaligia sake

thank you somebody who agrees with me that we should give johto another chance

Nintendo pulishes the games and do not make the games Gamefreak does and where is it said by Gamefreak that Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen were made solely to obtain Pokemon? It is fine with me if you do not like these games or the saga and that is your opinion, but please do not go making up myths like that. People make up myths all the time to discourage other people and these myths become very popular and people actually think they are true. It is unknown whether those games are being made or not and only time will tell.

I do not know if the anime go to Johto or not. I will just have wait and see. I really felt neutral to the Johto saga meaning I had no like or dislike for it. I think we should wait and see what is going to happen first before this is discussed.

I couldn't have said that any better myself :) Placing your opinion is fine, but going on and saying something that you yourself aren't even 100% sure on isn't the right way to go. Time will soon tell what happens, we just have to bare patience.

I am not saying that these are facts I am just stating opinions and speculations

I too was expressing myself about the one who Mika555 quoted. I don't like to bash on people's opinions, as I would not like others to do it to me.

    Sorry for the confusion Desolation101,

    I apologize for that much. I shouldn't have stated that GameFreak made it for that purpose, as, as has been pointed out, it's not fact. However, there is an outstanding amount of logic behind it, seeing as, without FR/LG, Advance Generation would have been out a whole lot of Pokemon. =.=;;

If the anime does indeed return to Johto, I ask but one thing; make Ash's team not utter fail and useless. >_>

I expect ash's team to consist of pika staraptor infernape(?) grotle and 2 other pokemon preferably from Johto or something. I would love Donphan and totodile to return.

Yeah. Notch Eared Pichu, Pikachu Coloured Pichu (12th movie),
May doing her contests in Johto (anime. I have a feeling Ash will
be meeting may soon, and maybe a certain other water-type fan..)
Nearly everyone in Sinnoh region mentions something about Johto
(D/P/Pt) and one hiker even mentioned something about Prof. Elm.
"I have a professor friend, and this is what he told me. If you leave a pair
of Pokemon with the Day Care, sometimes Eggs are found. Or things that are
like Eggs, anyway. I wonder how my pal Prof. Elm is doing these days? He
was always a quiet sort and didn't really stand out."
Prof. Elm? Quiet sort? Stand out? I have a feeling Game Freak is going to
try and break that notion an brew a remake. There's just too much intrigue
in that one statement. Oh, also, has anyone noticed Jasmine for Olivine
City? And the Cameo appearance of a certain Lighthouse?

They better not be leading us on just to drop us off at a dead-end...
There's just too much hintings of Johto. For those who say that they're
just being courteous to the previous generations, I don't see them mentioning
anything about Hoenn region (other than May, who happens to be in Johto
    currently).

I doubt there's going to be a 4th Gen Remake, but maybe a 3rd Gen. Pkmn Platinum
only has the data for "Johto" as in migration (which means possibly 3rd gen remake,
if anything). Excuse me if I'm incorrect, but when you trade R/S/E pkmn to FR/LG, does it say "Hoenn" or "Kanto" if the other way around? If it does, then it's possible that
the remake (if there will be one) will be 4th Gen. Otherwise, it will have some form of migration... I just hope it's not some bogus Wii Spin-Off that you can trade Johto
pokemon is some chopped and skrewed Wii Ware RPG T-T. They made FR/LG
    so why stop there?

Sorry for strolling off topic. But I think Ash will meet some old characters before moving forward... He's bound to meet May again, and you might as well throw in Misty since she's more favoured than May. (out of all the characters, they bring May back..)
