[PKMN FULL] A Rising Shadow (OOC/SU)

Plot

It was twenty-five years ago... The criminal Organization, Cipher, brought Shadow Pokemon into the world. They tried their schemes two separate times in a five-year span, and were foiled on both occasions... since this time, Orre has been in peace. This region is commonly know for heavy competition in battle... and with the recent finding of wild Pokemon throughout the region, the Pokemon League has moved in to the region, and set up true Pokemon Gyms in the region's cities and towns. With this added, many trainers have come to the once barren region. It has begun to prosper... people are even given starter Pokemon at Professor Krane's Laboratory. With all this focus on journeying, and Pokemon Leagues... a number of towns and routes have been added to the region in order to allow for easier travel, and to allow eight gyms to be in the region without disturbing the existing towns and villages who didn't wish to have them. With twenty years of peace, it seems there is no room for this to change... but this statement is wrong...

Cipher has risen from the ashes once more. There vile actions stain the region once more, stealing Pokemon from trainers, and converting them once more into Shadow Pokemon... but just who is in control of this madness? And what do they seek by closing the hearts of Pokemon once again?

Enter us: Our roles are new trainers, planning to start new journeys in the Orre Region. We will eventually become entangled within the plot of the new Cipher campaign... it will then be our duty to find a way take the Shadow Pokemon away from Cipher, and to purify them. Along the way, however, we will still be following our goals of our journeys... whether that includes the Pokemon League, and so forth.

Important NPCs

Professor Krane- The Region's Pokemon Professor. He handles most matters for beginning trainers, such as Starter Pokemon, Pokedexes, and such forth. He is also one of the few people in Orre who did not forget about Cipher... Rumor has it, he even still has the Snag Machine and Shadow Detector somewhere in his lab...

Jovi- Now much older, Jovi is Professor Krane's lab assistant. She is still almost always with her Plusle and Minun.

ONBS- The Orre News Broadcasting Station delivers important news to the public of the Orre Region. We may receive good tip-offs from the news broadcasts, as they are, and will always be, Anti-Cipher.

Duking- He is the Warden of the new Orre Safari Zone, and has managed Orre Colloseum and the Wild Pokespots previously. Not a super important character now, but he's still around.

Snagem Corps- Formerly Team Snagem, Snagem Corps are now the major suppliers of Pokemon-related merchandise in the Orre Region. There main base of work is in Phenac City.

Justy- Justy was formerly the Pre-Gym Leader... And now, he is a true Gym Leader. He focuses on the Normal-type.

Professor Chobin- Taking over the reigns of the late Professor Kaminko, Chobin has been busy inventing crazy new things for people and Pokemon alike!

Locations

Servedi Town- A quiet town formed nearby Pokemon Lab HQ. It's just a normal Town, no Bella or whistles involved.

Pokemon Labortory HQ- This advanced building is where trainers go to get Starters and such from Professor Krane. All kinda of Pokemon Reaearch goes on here.

Phenac City- Not much has changed about this place, aside the changing of the Colloseum into a Gym, and the Snagem Corps Headquarters building.

Kaminko's Mansion- Not too different nowadays... Except Chobin owns it. A memorial to the great Professor replaces the Groudon statue in the water fountain.

Gateon Port- Another place with few changes... However, this town has gained a Water-type Gym inside its lighthouse!

Pyrite Town- Talk about drastic changes... This former rusted town is now new, shiny, and sparkling... ONBS headquarters still stands here, as does the new Steel-type Gym, and the brand-new Safari Zone! (Which is currently incomplete...)

Agate Village- This place hasn't changed in the slightest... The Relic Stone still stands tall, even today!

Halengage City- A city built around Realgem Tower. It contains a grand shopping mall, as well as a Fairy-type Gym.

Mt. Battle- Still basically a Battle Tower with less rules. Moving on.

S.S. Libra- This boat in the desert was considered too large to move, so, it has become a haven not only for Wild Pokemon, but a Ground-type Pokemon Gym was made in the higher levels, which are kept Wild-free.

Snagem Hideout- This place is now abandoned. Many industrial-based Pokemon now make this their home.

Divirston City- Built where the Shadow Factory once stood. Contains many homes, as well as a Dark-type Gym.

Shadow Pokemon Lab- This building is thought to have been abandoned... It is now closed-off to the public.

Redis Town- A small town between Halengage and Pyrite. It's only claim to fame is a Grass-type Gym.

The Under- This underground City was recently reopened to the public. It is much nicer than before... The city also contains an Electric-type Gym.

Citadark Isle- The former base of Cipher operations is now home to Orre's Victory Road and Pokemon League... Could there be a more treacherous and challenging place for it if they tried?

Rules

1. Follow all Pokecommunity/Roleplay Corner rules here! (No exceptions!)

2. Legendary Pokemon will appear, and are capturable! However, you mày only capture one. Legendaries too powerful (Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga, etc.) are uncatchable, unless Shadow Pokemon. They will be released upon purification, and cannot be used to challenge Gyms and the Pokemon League.

3. No Shadow Pokemon maybe be used at Gyms/Pokemon League, unless all your others have been KO'd.

4. You cannot start with any Pokemon, or have a trainer who already has experience. We're all new here. No exceptions.

5. You may choose a starter from any Generation, as well as Pikachu and Eevee. There is only one of each, however.

6. We have 8 total slots! Once they're filled, unless a slot is given up, we are closed for sign-ups!

Goals: Jake likes and wants to get rid of any big problems in life as he can, and with his motivation, he usually does. Another big goal of his is to help people see the bright side of life.

Backstory: Jake lived his entire life in a family where neatness and manners were the only things that mattered. He would wake up, eat breakfast, read a book, and basically do everything according to a very precise schedule. Jake never seemed to mind, other than one thing: he wasn't allowed to own any Pokemon. On the day before his tenth birthday, Jake asked/begged his parents to get him a Pokemon of his own. To make a long story short, he didn't get one. However, now 14, Jake has begun to hear rumors about a problem in life, a big problem.

He still had many friends and family to look out for him. However, when Cepher returned, he decided he was finally ready for a Pokemon so that he could stop Cepher's evil plans.

Hmm... Thing is, people aren't really supposed to know Cipher is around. It's kind of just rumors and such for now. The evens of XD take place 25 years before this role play, so he has probably never heard of Cipher. If you want that to be a goal, you'll need to develop that better. Tell me how he knows,

Also, with the mother thing: It might just be me, but it makes your character somewhat Gary Stu. I feel someone who grew up without a mother would be a little depressed, or have adverse effects done to there psyche, not be happy and giddy. Especially if they think Pokemon killed her. I feel he'd be much more reprehensive to go on an adventure with Pokemon... Heck, he'd probably hate them in general.

This last thing is just a nit-pick, but where in Orre does he live? Or did he come from another region?

I'll put you down for the RP, but I'd like to see the things I set to be explained better done so.

Anna has very long pinkish-red hair, green eyes, and freckles. She often wears a Purple shirt with a blue long sleeve shirt under it, green pants, and light blue boots.
Personality: Anna loves cute and cuddly pokemon, because she acts just like them. She is always friendly, and tries to be helpful.

Goals: Anna wants to bond with her pokemon, and prove to her mom she is tough enough to travel alone.

Backstory: Anna's father breeds eevees as a hobby, while her mother used to run a small shop. Anna was always surrounded by friends when she was young. Of course, that was when she lived in Pyrite with her parents. She recently moved to Phenac alone and has no friends there. Her mother thinks she is being careless and that she is to weak to live on her own. So she wants to go on a journey.

Jack loves listening music so you would see him wearing his headphones around his neck. He designed his headphones to be yellow but have a black star on both speakers.

Personality: Jack is quite kind when he his listening to his music but if you disturb him he can be quite aggressive. Especially in a Pokemon battle. When he is in a battle he will wear his headphones and you can hear the music blasting because be goes into his own world when battling. When he has his headphones off he listens to everything that the Pokemon are fighting for. He calls it the song for victory.

Goals: His current goals are to be a talented performer with the help with his Pokemon.

Back story: Jack always loved music even when he was a baby. When he listened to music he escapes into his own little world. When he was 12 years old he noticed that Pokemon had amazing talent. He found out about Pokemon's talent at a concert when man was performing with Pokemon. Jack was amazed by the voices of the Pokemon going into harmony with the man and his Pokemon. When he head home he started a journal on how to make the "perfect song" with Pokemon. On his 15 birthday his mother allowed him to get a Pokemon. He heads to the professor already knowing what Pokemon he wanted, he grabs chimchar and tells him lets go buddy I'm going to call you Champ and we are going to make the perfect song.

Personality: She is a very annoying and stubborn when you mess with her but likes to stay hidden from others. She's really shy but she has that voice to become a leader. She can be forward and analyze the situation in order to act rationally. She is someone who lets others show their colors before putting down her cards.

Goal(s): What she wants more than anything is to remember who she is and where she came from. She also wants to find a friend for being on the sidelines too long forms a hole in her heart.

Brief Background History: The first memory she can recall is screaming of a woman screaming for a Piplup. Three years later on the streets, she gives up on her mind to remember and set off to get some answers. Before she leaves though she is spotted by an officer an is thrown into an orphanage. Two years of brutal beating by other kids made her strong and she finally decided to escape. That night was pouring hard with rain. She slipped in the mud and twisted her ankle but was still determined to get out of there. Crawling, she slowly and painfully got away but then she felt something caught her hand. It was a moon crest necklace despite it being dirty with trash. Ever since then, she kept it always around her. She got jumped several times for it but has defended it with her life. At some point those jumpers used some strange creatures to get it. To this day while she walks she limps at the same time. She doesn't trust people or pokemon at all and prefers to avoid them at all cost. All for the necklace.

Name: Charlotte Walker

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Description: She is fairly tall, with a lithe build and fair complexion. Her almond-shaped eyes are a deep olive color. Her hair is chestnut colored and cut in a sort of choppy style. It goes down to her shoulders and sweeps partially over her face from the right side. Despite hot weather, she always wears a black leather jacket (with an attached black hood), under which she simply wears dark denim jeans and a basic shirt. It looks very fashionable, even though the jacket is durable and already has a few marks from constant use. At times, she'll also don a scarf. As for jewelry, she wears numerous rings on both hands (too many, to be honest) and a faded chain necklace with an articuno pendant hanging from it. She wears a lot of articuno related items, since it was the mascot of her old school. For the purpose of carrying supplies, she carries a small canvas messenger bag.

Personality: She is incredibly ambitious and will go to great lengths to prove that she is better than someone she believes to be under herself – in her school orchestra, for example, she did not take kindly to someone trying to challenge her for first chair (on that subject, she plays both violin and cello, and while she decided that a violin would be a stupid thing to bring on a pokemon journey, she'll take any opportunity to play on either instrument). Not to say that she won't help someone rise higher, but she hates having anyone act like they're above her. Most of this is due to her schooling, since she was taught to believe that the kids in her school were better than the rest. She won't act nearly as arrogant towards anyone she respects, but that respect is difficult to earn. To most people, she gives off a cold air and will turn aggressive when they insult her. She usually isn't angry, just a little annoyed, but most people mistake her attitude for anger.

She's nicer than most people think, however. She doesn't like acting soft, so when she makes harsh remarks about someone's strategy or whatever, she's really just trying to force them to improve. She's also noticeably generous, which isn't hard given her family's wealth, but she would be willing to give up something she actually needs for a friend. When around pokemon or children, she drops her hard exterior and attempts to be kind. Back at her school, she helped teach dance classes for small children, so she's not awkward around them. She really likes having friends, but she just isn't sure how to make them. Despite her ambition, she would (eventually) choose loyalty to her friends over power.

Her intelligence is obvious in her actions – she is perceptive, analytical, and calculating in battles. It's sometimes uncomfortable to have her staring at you, since she sometimes forgets to mask her habit of studying people.

Goals: She wants both to be the world's top scientist and to be able to play music again. She doesn't have any pokemon goals, but eventually she might grow to wish to help them. While she enjoys comfort, she has no goals for wealth.

Backstory: Her family is extremely wealthy, as they own several large businesses. She doesn't have much contact with her parents, since she was sent to an elite Kanto school, Articuno University, at a young age and lived there until recently. She never owned a pokemon as even a pet and only interacted with the school's pokemon. While at the school, she had plenty of friends but wasn't close to any of them. It was all rather boring, but she had no desire to leave to start a pokemon journey. The most interesting things were her musical studies and gymnastics, both of which she greatly enjoyed. For a couple years now, she's even taught gymnastics and dancing to little kids at the school. Recently, her classes have focused on science. Most of her pokemon classes focused on biology, so while she has basic knowledge of battling and such, she has very little idea of what to do while in the wilderness or training. The only reason she began a journey was because an aunt had decided that she had too little real word experience and convinced her parents to send her to a faraway region to train.

Most of this is due to her schooling, since she was taught to believe that the kids in her school were better than the rest. She won't act nearly as arrogant towards anyone she respects, but that respect is difficult to earn. To most people, she gives off a cold air and will turn aggressive when they insult her. She usually isn't angry, just a little annoyed, but most people mistake her attitude for anger.

She's nicer than most people think, however. She doesn't like acting soft, so when she makes harsh remarks about someone's strategy or whatever, she's really just trying to force them to improve. She's also noticeably generous, which isn't hard given her family's wealth, but she would be willing to give up something she actually needs for a friend. When around pokemon or children, she drops her hard exterior and attempts to be kind. Back at her school, she helped teach dance classes for small children, so she's not awkward around them. She really likes having friends, but she just isn't sure how to make them. Despite her ambition, she would (eventually) choose loyalty to her friends over power.

Her intelligence is obvious in her actions – she is perceptive, analytical, and calculating in battles. It's sometimes uncomfortable to have her staring at you, since she sometimes forgets to mask her habit of studying people.

Goals: She wants both to be the world's top scientist and to be able to play music again. She doesn't have any pokemon goals, but eventually she might grow to wish to help them. While she enjoys comfort, she has no goals for wealth.

Backstory: Her family is extremely wealthy, as they own several large businesses. She doesn't have much contact with her parents, since she was sent to an elite Kanto school, Articuno University, at a young age and lived there until recently. She never owned a pokemon as even a pet and only interacted with the school's pokemon. While at the school, she had plenty of friends but wasn't close to any of them. It was all rather boring, but she had no desire to leave to start a pokemon journey. The most interesting things were her musical studies and gymnastics, both of which she greatly enjoyed. For a couple years now, she's even taught gymnastics and dancing to little kids at the school. Recently, her classes have focused on science. Most of her pokemon classes focused on biology, so while she has basic knowledge of battling and such, she has very little idea of what to do while in the wilderness or training. The only reason she began a journey was because an aunt had decided that she had too little real word experience and convinced her parents to send her to a faraway region to train.

Description: Standing at just over six feet tall, and looking like he came out of a blender, Oliver is rather intimidating. His brown hair is a dirty, stringy mat that is in dire need of shampoo, and his eyes are slightly yellowed by malnutrition. Oliver's nails are cracked and unkempt, and the various scars his body possesses, causes ranging from knife fights to slipping on a banana peel, are a very personal matter to him.

Oliver's attire consists of a grimy, torn trenchcoat, faded leather boots, and oddly clean pants, shirt, and socks. His Pokéballs (if any) are kept in a myriad of places, including his sleeves, pant legs, and shoes.

Personality: Oliver is actually quite goofy, saying and doing very odd things regularly, but foregoes such for the sake of public appearance. Thus, he acts like a cold, merciless, soulless creature to accentuate his troubled past. The only time Oliver shows his true colors is in the presence of friends, and while scarce, have kept him sane the past few years.

Goals: He hopes to travel home one day, older, and far wiser, having explored the vast world.

Backstory: Born to an upper middle-class Hoenn family, Oliver was never content with life. He had everything a boy could ever hope for, and it sickened him. After a series of arguments with his parents, Oliver stowed away on a tanker headed to Orre, leaving it all behind.

Upon landing in Orre, Oliver, without money or any form of shelter, found himself on the streets. Entirely devoid of urban survival skills, he fell prey to the various ruffians and rapscallions of Gateon Port. Robbed of what few possessions he had, and gaining the first of many scars, Oliver decided to adopt the fake persona he maintains to this day, three years later.

A mere day before the story began, Oliver chanced upon an abused Cyndaquil, abandoned by its former trainer for being weak. The forceful squeak it emitted broke his heart, and he carried it all the way to the nearest Pokémon center, several miles away. From there Oliver adopted the poor thing, now nicknamed Cinders, and has since waited impatiently for any news from the nurse.
