A topic for hardcore metalheads

Metal. Perhaps one of, if not the, greatest genres of music history. There are so many types of metal for us to enjoy. So my question is, when you are rocking out to metal, which kind is it? and if you have more than one type of metal that you like, what's your favorite?

I'm really not into metal or rock, but I guess I'll pick speed metal.

Well I like Rise Against, especially that song "Survive" I'm more into Rock than Metal but Metal can be awesome if you're bored at home sitting around doing nothing XD

Where's thrash metal, prog metal and funk metal?

I don't know about other parts of the world, but here...Metallica is synonymous to metal. That's the only metal band anyone here knows. Metallica is thrash, and a lot of other popular acts come from thrash, such as Megadeth and Slayer.

And prog is pretty awesome too, because they have Tool and Dream Theater.
Funk has Primus. Primus has Les Claypool, one of the greatest bassists to ever walk this Earth. xD

I'm gonna vote for heavy metal, since you have none of my favourite genres. xD

By the way, isn't mallcore and nu metal the same thing? And emo and grindcore are completely different genres.

I like doom metal, sludge metal, and some other kinds of stuff.

But since Black Sabbath is the prototypical metal band, and they were doom metal, I just put heavy metal.

You gotta hear some of the bands I listed, dude...especially Sloth, Electric Wizard, Night Sun, Reverend Bizarre, and Witch.

Doom metal is the bomb, buddy.

Yes, I enjoy some metal. Favourite band is Iron Maiden, who I guess would count as "regular" heavy metal. Other bands I also enjoy would include Judas Priest, Helloween, Dio, Black Sabbath, Slayer and Pantera.

I like speed metal and metal that you can really headbang to the best of all, but I picked Speed Metal. I like many types of metal, but I agree with Oni Pichu, it isn't my favourite genre.
