"A Triple Fighting Chance!" Episode Discussion

YAY!!! First post in thread and my first one back from vacation!!! COOLIES!!!

I have to say this was a very good gym battle compare to the ones from the past. The battle was kinda refreshing to see since it featured some Ash's other pokemon that kinda was due some appreciation in mostly the form of Staravia. At first I was thinking that Staravia was going to be a quick knock out since recently our little birdie has been kinda well not coolies treated but I was amazed at how well Staravia did. YAY!!! Finally. Also Dig by Chimchar was nice since I thought Ash wouldn't use it since I be thinking he consider Dig something of a dirty move. I mean Ash never told Chimchar, as far as I remember, to use Dig so it was nice.

Mayana was also a great gym leader. When I notice her in the last episode, she really seem at coolies with her pokemon as in moving out the moves they do as in Bone Rush so that was really coolies.

I was really surprise by the ending. A draw and Ash still got he badge. Something like this hasn't happen since his battle with Pryce which was super long time ago!!! It really did brought back the feeling of the olden days back in Kanto where Ash won half of his badges on Gym Leader decisions. Teeheehee Coolies.
 
damn this place is dead...

anyways the best part of the episode was Buizel Vs Lucario hands down...the rest of the episode is just a flash to me....
 
1. Ash was a bit excited to use Brave Bird the second time against Lucario without even thinking... :\
2. Brock's voice was a bit different. :\
3. Lucario was a difficult opponent to beat. :)
4. Lucario V.S. Buizel was ultra cool! :classic:
5. The gym needs major ceiling fixing.
6. Buizel is truly a tough POKéMON. :)

A very cool episode. ^^
 
The Gymbattle was great!^^

-Eheheh Team Rocket is still scared by Croagunk
-It was there when they opened the door,then when they escaped it was right in front XD
-Brave Bird is so pretty,but Ash got cocky with it.Staravia got hurt v.v
 
Great episode. Just too many fillers between Gym Matches :\

1 - Lucario vs Buizel was awesome!
2 - WAY to may explosions as always
3 - Need to have a better battle theme to go along with a great match like that.
 
An interesting episode

Pro's

-She uses the same Pokemon as her game character does, so there is a sense of "i've been there"
-Staravia fought well
-As did Buizel

Con's

-Brock's vocie was off,
-Ash's vocie is getting worse, its getting higher and worse in general
-A Draw? That was pointless


Other Points

-Anyone else thinks Maylene sounds a bit like Misty?
 
I didnt notice any resemblance to Misty while watching the episode. If it is the same Voice actor, they did a good job not to sound too close.
 
ya Maylene and Mistys voice actor are the same.

i thought this episode was great. I like how Maylenes meditite put up a fight against chimchar and staravia before he got owned by brave bird.

The best part was lucario and buizel by far. I really like when lucario uses his bone rush it looks like hes using a lightsaber or something. There were way to many explosions as usually but im used to it by now. I thought when the roof blew up and then it just started raining out of no where so buizel got swift swim was kinda dumb. I didnt mind that it was a tie because i like both pokemon and maylene.

So overall one of the best battling episodes ive seen in a while
 
Yeppie. I been hearing they are the same VAs. Still is it the 4Kids VA or the PUSA VA? I couldn't tell. Su. I need to see the episode again.
 
A good battle, especially Buizle vs. Lucario. Just hate the fact that there are too many months between gym battles
 
I'm much more awake now so I was able to enjoy the episode! Which means a better review! And I'm back on to commenting on the BGM again.
I can tell that it's Misty, I can hear it in her voice...

- Japanese looking house!
- Is this silence I hear? It's speaking to me quiet and clear! I do like it when they keep silence, it's so much easier to concentrate than PUSAs music constantly in the bakground 1:07-1:30 only broken by Japanese music! Yay!
- Cheerleader outfit again!
- 2:17-2:24 is silence AGAIN!? Did the PUSA music dub editors/adders die or something? Hurrah!
- Yay Staravia!
- Just noticed Croagunk is randomly out and no Piplup!
- Aww no, dub music is back in...
- The massager is strangling James XD
- I like the dub music in the battle after that part, though. It's like PUSA are trying to imitate the game BGM
- Ash is smart by switching
- Wow, Staravia's Brave Bird pwns. I wish I had been awake last episode, I didn't even know it learnt it...
- Why did PUSA put in the randomly happy music through the battle? And the other when Staravia FAINTED?
- Is it just me, or are the random scribbles looking more and more like Japanese? In the Swinub episode with Dawn's friend, there was a backwards E "ヨ" on the large sign (mixed in with random scribbles) which is kantana and the sound is "yoh". It could've been accidental, but could write a letter of your alphabet without realising? I can't find a pic of that and I forgot to snip the screen, but I've got the one from this episode which looks like Japanese, but it's not. The first 3 scribbles look like it, not the rest as much

- So the gym leaders DO get to decide whether the challenger gets a badge? Explains Indigo League...somewhat...still doesn't say whether you have to battle them

Teeheehee Jorah sounds like a Dogusa comparison. Teeheehee Only six pieces? teeheehee

I did notice that kinda not sounding right line back there. It sounded as if Brock wasn't paying attention at all to what Dawn was saying. Teeheehee

I do? XD I think that's a compliment, so thanks. But I don't think I'm quite there yet XD And I say the music that was kept, he only says the number of pieces haha

Yeah, it sounded to me as though they didn't know what to make Brock say, so just made him say anything

Indeed. We should have our own episode comparisons and stuff. You seem pretty competent at them, I think.
 
SU!!! That would be so coolies!!! Jorah can go all technical and talk about what changes was done!!! Charaxes can say lots of smart things like where the dub title came from and I can say how I felt about it!!! Teeheehee

Yeppie. Sure felt like that. I mean I was kinda confuse on that moment.

The triumvirate of terror. Oh, nOeZ! And, I can also complain on the subtleties like the writing on both sides, then reference obscure people and pop culture! What fun! Hah.

Seriously, I'm starting to notice how the show is becoming Japanese ish again. I think it will be a few more years before it fully surpasses the 4Kids' effect, but we're getting there. Amazing, since PUSA only acquired almost two years ago.
 
Yeppie. I notice that too now. I guessing now that PUSA is a bit lose on the paint edits so now the animators are just going back kindaish on how it was before. That is nice I guess.
 
Hahaha thanks, both of you. But really, the music is my speciality. I only started continualy watching the Japanese episodes since about DP76 and we're in the late 60s? So I can't really compare as the only differences now really are what is said, and I don't understand Japanese haha. But I shall forever be happy to talk about the music kept haha.

But I'm glad other people have noticed a few things are looking a little more Japanese now! Not a lot, but every now and again
