A wild Windows Phone user appeared!

Have you looked at the Lumia 520 if it's available? It's got the lowest-end specs of a Windows Phone, but it can do all that you've mentioned. The only reason I'd avoid the 920 is because it's the oldest of the models you listed, thus meaning updates are a lower priority. If the 520 is not available, then go for the 920. It does what you want it to do at a lower price.

Updates do not work that way in the world of Windows Phone :3

Older devices don't necessarily miss out on updates - it's more on the device's rank and whether a carrier is involved.

Sometimes, even Microsoft decides to ignore the carriers and OEMs, as with Windows Phone 7.8, even for devices that have never seen Tango for some reason.
 
That's right, Android is purely dependent on either the manufacturer, the carrier, or XDA-Developers, Windows Phones get Updates ASAP.

Also, I couldn't wait anymore, thanks to this Thread, so I went to BelCompany, and got myself a Nokia Lumia 820.
I know that device, because my brother has one too, so I was sure it would fit all my needs (minus TomTom, but that's related to the fact there is no Windows Phone Version).
Still, I love the way my new Lumia looks, next to my Surface Pro, and I like the fact it's smaller than the Galaxy Nexus, which means I can hold it in my hands much easier now.

But of course the Lumia 820 uses a Micro SIM, while the Galaxy Nexus was the very last Phone with a 'normal' SIM Card, so I had to go to Vodafone too, they exchanged my SIM Card for a Micro SIM for free, and worked immediately!
I really love it, so far.
 
Yeah, this past week I had to go to AT&T to get a Mini SIM exchanged for a Micro SIM for my Lumia 520, and the carrier didn't charge anything for the change in SIM card or even contacts at that.

I really enjoy Windows Phone, and I would probably keep my 520 until updates stop going to it, or if I have money to replace and upgrade it as well.
 
The more I read about the Nokia Lumia 1320, the more I feel like it'd be my ideal device.

It's not too expensive, and yet it sports a 6" 1280x720 display. That, alone, is miles better than what I have on my 900 right now. I can live with the internal storage being limited at 8 GB, seeing as it has a microSDXC slot for expansion needs. It also has a "pretty good" 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core CPU (they're pretty efficient all things considered), 1 GB of RAM (no app compatibility issues), and a 5 MP camera that I can live with (seeing as it's probably cleaner than what I'd get on a 900 anyway).

Couldn't be a better time to join in the phablet craze.
 
I wanted an 1520 in the first place, because of the Specs, but I've let it go, Phablets are way to large, for my little, girly hands (don't confuse it with womanly hands, these are even bigger than what I have).
 
I'm also considering the Nokia Lumia 920, though. However, a phone that can run for the entire day... I want that. The Nokia Lumia 1520 and 1320 share the same battery specifications, but the 1320 has lesser hardware. Seeing as the 1520 runs for, like, half a day browsing web pages...

Oh dear. I'll wait for the day when every phone has a fusion reactor, but this'll do.
 
I would like to try a windows phone, but I like the customizability of android and the range of apps on windows phone isn't as good as android or iOS. I have heard that even cheap windows phones run very fast unlike most android phones which can be VERY hit or miss. My current phone, a Huawei Y300, is the most reliable one I have used but it's starting to b become a little on the outdated side with Android 4.1
 
I joined the Windows Phone 8 party way earlier than expected because repairing my old phone was more expensive than just getting a 525.

This might be the best decision I've ever done yet. Pretty much the only thing I've lost for real is the LED flash. Turns out Nokia makes really good budget phones that don't feel budget at all!
 
Windows Mobile was abysmal. But Windows Phone is beautiful, smooth, and whatnot.
During my move from Verizon to GoPhone, I was constantly debating between the upcoming Nexus 5 and the Nokia Lumia 1020.
Had both phones been offered at the same price, I'd be on the Windows Phone fanwagon.
I am very impressed with the Lumia series. Windows Phone is beautifully smooth and has improved dramatically.
However, the openness of Android coupled with my Linux fandom give me a slight lean towards Android.
The funny thing is, the "lack of apps" did not bother me with Windows Phone. In fact, the only app that I really wished they had was a good music player.
Other than that, Windows Phone gets my seal of approval ;o

NOTE: OMG the Samsung windows device is so blah, seriously. Lumia > that

Really? we're total opposites here ;o
The interface makes me feel like I navigate a few too many menus.
I'm used to Poweramp, where I can be one tap away from selecting an artist, song, or whatever.
I just never found the Windows Phone app or the Nokia app that simple.
Maybe I'm just not used to them, but they remind me too much of Windows 8 Music.
I'm also not a fan of swiping from menu to menu.
I'm not one for cloud music; I put my music on my phone, and I play music from my phone.
That's one area where the flagship music players tend to bother me, but I can't blame them since they're supposed to integrate with radio mixes and clouds.
 
It probably has something to do with Music+Videos being more of a hub for everything related to media playback, be it locally stored music, videos, podcasts, or even FM radio, without even factoring third-party apps and Xbox integration.

I guess I prefer the way Music+Videos handle things, since usually, I play whole albums, or part of it, and it's pretty easy for me to remember who an artist is, then what the album's name is. Also helps me in memorizing names for popular stuff, since, well, I'd have to remember all of them, don't I?

I just hope that the Lumia brand stays solid gold even under Microsoft.

Music+Video is grouped? Didnt know that.. And what do you mean can't stop music?

Anyways, you guys probably heard rumours of Nokia "Normady" which would be Nokia+Android, now honestly they could've had this going, but I think its fake, following the notice that some former Nokia higher ups were making Android phones as a possibility. This is its supposed OS:

Now there were reports of WP9 not having Metro UI (but still there as a option?). I like the look of it but I could see, for the u.s market, though its out selling ios outside. Now WP9 was rumoured to be kinda android like. This supposed os looked kinda lika android, wp (phone dialer is like skypes, the squares), and Nokia's newest os Asha. I think Microsoft also bought Nokia to redesign windows phone. And thats how its gonna look like, somewhat.

What do you think? Am I crazy?

I think he meant that music can't be truly stopped and removed from the volume/mode bar. You can only pause without restarting the phone or getting a third-party app to do the job.

It doesn't bother me at all.

Keep in mind that this "Android" is more like the "Android" in Amazon Kindle Fires than the "Android" in everything else - heavily customized with no access to the Play Store, the works. Think of it as more of a Nokia OS than a Google OS

Yeah but I don't think its Android at all, I think its just slightly based, so Windows phone picks up in the u.s its still all windows phone though.
 
I used to have a Samsung Windows Mobile phone years ago, but gave it away to my sister; I was growing tired of it. Not really sure what she did with it... maybe she still has it. The phone was a bit bulky, but it was quite fast and responsive. As for Windows Phone, I've never had them. xD" I did test one out at a store one day, and it honestly wasn't so bad. It was sort of difficult to multitask with, though, which is the only thing that I didn't like. Everything else was pretty much perfect.

I feel like Nokia is the only reason worth owning a windows phone, not because of their hardware, but because of their software. While symbian/meego/asha were all kinda lacky and not fully great, Nokia does some nice stuff. No offense to HTC and Samsung, the 8X feels and looks amazing.

Whats "Lumia Black"?
