6th Gen ABANDON SHIP!!!!

As much as I loved the Abandoned Ship, its music, Trainers, and the little puzzle inside of it, I doubt it'd have much more of a role than it did in the previous games. It was nice, though, as it was. A quiet, quaint little ship that held a few treasures inside, and just being a pretty little memento of whatever if was that happened there, and honestly I think it should stay that way. .3.

It will definitely return. If it had a larger role in the plot, that would be pretty cool, but I don't think that will be the case. If they were to incorporate it into the plot, it would not only alter the story more than what needs to be, but it would kind of remove the sense of exploration. What I mean by that is, when you first see the Abandoned Ship, you're sailing across the waters with Mr. Briney and Peeko. You see that it's there, but you don't have access to it quite yet. Later you receive Surf and you have to go out of your way to go and explore the ship--but you want to because it's so interesting and mysterious-looking. The existence and location of the Abandoned Ship are one of the many ways that Hoenn really encourages the player to explore. If the plot forced you to go there, it just wouldn't be the same.

With that being said, I do hope that the location is expanded upon and has a few new features and maybe even side-story-esque events. And if newer (post-gen 3) Pokémon are included in these remakes, I want the ship to be overrun with Frillish and Jellicent!

The above 2 posts perfectly encapsulate how I feel about the Abandoned Ship. {XD} Altering it to become plot-relevant would kind of take away the sense of exploration that you get when you first briefly experience the ship's mystique as you zoom past it with Mr. Briney.

Some people are saying there might be a legendary in the ship. And a ghost. May I just remind you of something?

[PokeCommunity.com] ABANDON SHIP!!!!

:D

It would be weird to get a Kalos'-debut-generation Pokemon in a Hoenn remake, but then again, stranger things have happened - such as when Hoenn's Deoxys got more "relevance/promotion" during the release of Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen (even more jarringly, due to the Kanto-based FireRed/LeafGreen's existence, Deoxys received its own island location and 2 new Formes and a unique, new battle theme in a pair of games that it technically didn't even premiere in! {XD}) Hoopa would be very fitting for the eerie atmosphere of the Abandoned Ship (and there's ample space for it to take residence), although I fear that Hoopa will be relegated to some unknown upcoming Pokemon X and Y (or Pokemon Z Version?) event distribution.. :/ It would be neat if one of those things that "shine" in the Abandoned Ship (which usually turn out to be Room Keys for the ship or just some random trash) mysteriously initiates a battle with Hoopa all of a sudden (maybe in a room that is unlocked once the player defeats the Hoenn Elite 4/Champion for the first time?).

I doubt it'll be any more relevant than before, but if it doesn't have Ice Beam in it I'll be filing a formal complaint. That's the only reason I went in there anyway. If anything, the boat should have a new sidequest involving Briney/Peeko or your rival/Wally or something like that. It would be cool if it's expanded more than just two or three floors with a bunch of impassable little holes. :P

Brendan/May and/or Wally randomly popping up at the Abandoned Ship would be interesting and fun to see (Wally's parents would probably freak out that Wally got so far, though XD). Although if that's the case, they should each have a Pokemon in their party that has Surf in its moveset...

Additionally, I just remembered something that bugged me a little. At the Abandoned Ship (at least in Pokemon Emerald Version), there's a lady, Beauty Thalia, who stands near to a Gentleman-looking man that has some Match Call dialogue (and I think her post-battle dialogue is along similar lines, too?) where she says that she's going to talk to/approach the Gentleman next door and challenge him to a match/battle... I always thought that there was a mini-event related to this that might be initiated after you re-battle her, but I think that dialogue was just "fluff" text for the sake of her having something interesting/worthwhile to say. XD It would be cool if OR/AS provides a mini-cutscene or mini-event where something comes out of this implied interaction...

EDIT: Woo-hoo, 1,600th post! ^^

Maybe we could find the Manaphy or Phione egg there? I could see that happening easily.

And they said they wanted to make more ways to catch pokemon. I don't recall having a Manaphy Event in a while.

Like already mentioned by several people, the chance that it wouldn't appear again is kinda slim. It wouldn't really be a faithful remake if they just decided to remove something like that, no matter how insignificant it actually was. And I don't know about anything storyline related, but I'd really love to see the purpose of it expanded on. Make it have part in a larger sidequest, rather than just have it be a way to obtain a few items. That's what really bugged me about it in the originals, since it seemed like it was much more significant than it actually was.

I can't wait to see just how beautifully mystic the abandoned ship will look with a graphical overhaul. The music should be kept about the same. I wouldn't be surprised if a ghost appeared or another eerie scene unfolds, given the ghost NPCs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th gens.

I hope that they can add some sort of story behind the Abandoned Ship in these remakes. The Advanced Generation of the animé delved into it a bit, I think, but there was no backstory in the games. As it had been mentioned earlier, Ice Beam was located on the Abandoned Ship. Anyone who started with a Mudkip surely knows the importance of Ice Beam to beat Treecko and its evos.

I'm sure the ship will look a thousand times more amazing than it did in R/S/E. 3D FOR TEH WINZ

Apparently, the Pokemon Special manga also had instances of Brendan and May's counterparts battling Team Magma for possession of the Scanner device.. And later on, Team Aqua was battled there as well.. It could be neat to have some rogue Team Aqua members (more sensible for them to be on a decrepit water-based vessel) find the Scanner at the same time as the player (like walking into the room at the same time, or something), subsequently challenging the player in regards to the Scanner and who gets to keep it.

In the originals, I thought the ship had an ominous yet elegant aura to it. Not much to do, but I assumed based on it's appearance that it was an important part of the game. I don't see them changing it much, but if anything it could be a new hideout for Team Aqua; possibly the HQ for their organization. That'd be a sensible fit, and some incentive to go visit the ship would be nice. During my first few go-around with RSE, I didn't even explore the area!

If I remember right, the ship was originally called the S.S. Cactus, no?

I remember spending countless hours in there trying to solve the six rooms puzzle thing.
