Do you think it is time in a Pokemon game that once you've chosen your starter Pokemon there are some places where you can capture the starters? Furthermore - catching the two other starter Pokemon?

It should have been since the beginning, but it never will be because nintendo is afraid of change.

I have mixed feelings about this. Yes, it would be great to be able to catch the other 2 starters in game without having to perform a ridiculous trade over Wi-Fi for one. On the other hand, it can take away from the fun of the game.

But, maybe after you a reach a certain point in the game, let's say, catching 50 or so pokemon, you are able to go on a sidequest to get another one of the starters. Professor Oak/Elm/Birch/Rowan all think that you need to prove yourself that you are worthy of another one of the starters. So you have to complete a series of tasks or battles to get the other starters.

^I agree. But another big, likely, reason why we aren't able to catch any of the starters, is because then you really wouldn't have any other reason to buy the other version of the game... (Besides, the other legendary and other pokemon) But it would be nice to get all the starters. Similar to Yellow version maybe?

Honestly, if that happened, it'd take all the value away from the most difficult decision in the game...that being which starter to choose. >_>

If it does become possible, It should be restricted to after you clear the E4 and beat the game...

That would seriously ruin the best decision in the game. It'd be cool, I guess, but it'd just ruin the game for me.

I don't see why not. I mean, what are people who can't buy another game or find anyone to trade with supposed to do? Game Freak's just kinda giving those people the Starly, if you catch my drift.

I don't see how it would "ruin" the game- I always have a ridiculously easy time choosing starters. They should provide a chance to get the other two, but I think they'd need a sidequest for you to earn it, not just hand it over.

I agree. It is a good idea.

And like someone above said, a sidequest of requirement would be great.

I don't know...maybe in the older games it would have been a good idea, have there be only one, and have it be a sidequest to obtain them...

But now, I think with wi-fi and everything there's really no need for it. I know some people don't have wi-fi, and sometimes people ask for ridiculous Pokemon in return...but there's always that one reasonable person. (:

I'm not really for or against it, I think it'd be fun to have little sidequests and get those Pokemon, but for most people, it's just not necessary anymore.

It should have been since the beginning, but it never will be because nintendo is afraid of change.

Nintendo isn't afraid of a change, they've been changing the game a lot. But I think they don't include the other starters in the wild because they want you to buy the other versions within that generation so they can rack up more cash, but I really do love the idea though

Getting other starters in your game is the most retarded Pokemon idea I've ever heard. First, it makes no sense from a story standpoint... You already got your starter. You don't get more than one.

Secondly, it's not that difficult to trade for the others and breed. People need to not be lazy and want everything given to them in their own game. And it is NOT about money. It's called human contact and communication with said contact. If anyone knows anything about Pokemon, it should be that Tajiri set out to make a game that brought people together. That's why there's versions. That's why there's version exclusives. And that's why the games have been so successful for 13 years.

It would be very fun to catch the other starters without having to swap it for you're hard earned Darkrai for a lv.1 starter, but it takes away the fun. Although quite a few GTS users must hack or they wouldn't be asking for legendaries it's really hard to get withhout cheating. It would be fun because how else are you meant to get a charmander? But I don't want it to happen. I'm just putting my point across.

To your first point- Yellow. That is all.

To your second point- some people don't have Wi-Fi (I'm one of those people) and don't know anybody with the game (I know about three people who have the game, and I hardly see them). So, what are these people supposed to do? Is this just a "too bad, sucks to be you" case? That's really not fair at all. And even if you do have the ability to trade online, who really thinks a Level 1 Squirtle for a Level 100 Dialga/Palkia/Darkrai/whatever is a fair trade? Anyone? I didn't think so.

And no, the games aren't successful because people love trading and interacting with others. They're popular because of mass merchandising, and because they're a unique, original concept, and have a lot of fans coming back for more in addition to the old ones. No matter what anyone says, we all know that the "One Game for the Price of Two (or three)" system is all about making more money.

And if you really think it's such a bad idea, if they ever integrate it, it's not like you'd have to go and get the other two starters.

Yellow was a one-shot game that existed solely for other people to trade for the starters. My point stands.

Yes, it is "Too bad, suck to be you". If they really want the Pokemon, get some friends. And the games come with Wi-Fi. Figure a way out... Oh, and yes. A level one Squirtle is worth that trade. I think so, and I'm sure plenty others would. They're dumb legendaries and a classic starter makes up for it.

You're an idiot. You obviously don't know a damn thing about Pokemon if you think it's all about money. Tajiri set out to make a game about communication and player-player interaction, and he succeeded. It's not his fault that people buy every version for themself... You're supposed to get one and your friend/sibling/whatever gets the other. I honestly don't see how that makes anyone more money.

No, I wouldn't. But I still would get them because it'd be a part of the game. I never said it wouldn't be nice, just that it's retarded and makes no sense in the context of the games.

another way is (drum roll.......) the Action Replay! i have never used/owned one but i have traded with people who apparently do. Thats how i got every single starter was from trade/migration.

Over the years, older fans have a type preference for their starter. The younger ones that are just starting Pokemon for the first time might have a tough decision; they don't know what the advantages or disadvantages are. I'm all in favor of having side quests/tasks after defeating the Pokemon League to get the remaining starters, but going through the game with all three (excluding Yellow, because that option was actually given because of the high relation to the anime) would be a little easy.

They should totally do that. The only game I can think of that lets you get two starters in-game is Emerald, and you have to earn them.

But those aren't the remaining starters. I see what your point is, but the other offer consists of the Johto starters rather than what's left after you and May/Brendan took yours.

This response angers me. Yeah, the game does come with Wi-Fi, but not everyone is capable of using it. My parents wouldn't allow it and my router isn't compatible with DS features. And "get some friends"? What kind of answer is that? Some of us live in biased states that stick up their nose to even playing the game, and I'm in one of them. Either Pokemon's too old, bad because of religion, or people my age want a little something else rather than playing Pokemon games. I can't run outside and find friends. That brings this to an entirely different argument. A friend is much more than some random person that you just "find". A friendship takes much more than just a common factor.

Where do you get off saying that? No need in straight up saying, "Duuurrrr you're an idiot cause blah blah blah." You're not supposed to just get one. I must be bad cause I don't do what I'm "supposed" to do; I buy the predecessors and their revamp. If it's not all about the Benjamins, then please explain why this exists.
