    Just a reminder that the PC rep system is NOT to be used to neg-rep people you don't like or for retaliation for a reply or post you do not like.

    The rep system is there for you to show your thoughts and/or opinions on a SPECIFIC post quality (not subject matter or the person posting)
    It can also be used to encourage an especially noteworthy topic.

    It is not to be used to flame or slam a member for stating their opinion or for topic choices. It can be used to express your opinion on the QUALITY of the post, grammar, and so forth.

    If the rep system continues to be abused, we will be forced to disable it once again and no one will benefit from it.

    I got down repped because somebody didn't agree with me when I said I thought Aggron was better than Tyranitar -___-
     
    Oooo, I saw this one coming.

    A lot of people are moaning about it, therefore it is getting on peoples nerves, resulting in this...
    As well as people abusing it. XD
     
    I actually have never recieved negative rep before, it's probably because i have never started anything with anyone.

    I personally think people negative rep someone just because they don't like them which is in my opinion abusing it. I bet if i got someone to hate me they would negative rep me, on a random post.

    Rep is suppose to encourage people to try harder with their posts and use better grammar

    People who are spamming the reputation system because they hate someone is really annoying. Once you see a member you don't like for what ever reason, you neg rep them without even reading their posts. It's kinda annoying.
     
    If you click on Rukario's profile you can see what the negative rep comment was for me :|

    But yes neutral rep, whithout comment and stuff.
     
    Thanks Rukario, I've been down-repped just for making a post in CQ+F for something like "Why did Cat in the Hat get demoted?" I mean, wtf, anyone who wonders that kind of thing like me, should not be de-repped.

    Please stop de-repping me, it's an official warning from PC Staff, every neg rep is sent to an Administrator for verification.

    I don't think Jelsoft would think that would happen, but since it's inception, it has always been abused, and it will forever be like that.

    To be honest, I want it disabled. It's not going to get better because how many people do think are ACTUALLY going to read this and even listen? D: I've been getting a few bad reps that happened a few months ago that I've had to get deleted or counter reps for. Friends have told me they've gotten bad reps too, for harassment and all that. It's just going to be the same as last time.

    ......So let me see if I have this straight:

    -Bad idea: leaving reputation for a user helping or flaming another user

    -Good idea: leaving positive or negative reputation based solely upon how well one uses grammar in a post

    Honestly, if this is the case, then reputation needs to be renamed, at the very least.

    With the way you have worded this, it sounds as though you are saying that you should never be given negative reputation, regardless of the situation.
     
    It's about time ya'll realized the rep system is being abused again. XD
    I've been getting spam reps like crazy for very unwarranted reasons myself.
     
    I'm a constant victim of needless negative reps. I've tried reporting them, but the staff have helped me only once in that regard; every other time, they've refused to do a thing.

    At the very least, there needs to be full disclosure; actually knowing the names of the people who rep you would be helpful if you need to report needless negative reps.

    Why should he be? He doesn't deserve bad rep just as the next person does. o_o

    To be honest, I think it's causing confusion. I don't think anyone really understands the true nature of the rep system. No matter how many times it's said, I think people are jsut getting more confused by it. D:

    I can agree wit Jack, if we know who gave us the bad rep... we could report it. We wouldn't be complaining because we are getting it. It would be easier if we could say, "hey, so and so gave me a bad rep i don't like." and then it would be easier... I think.
     
    I don't receive a huge number of -reps, personally. Those that I do receive I generally acknowledge to be deserved, probably because I was being a bit tetchy with someone. In my honest opinion, those who claim that they are receiving 'reputation abuse' on a regular basis are simply those people who receive a larger amount of -reps, the majority of which are deserved. If it matters that much, then simply do not display your reputation and don't kick up a fuss when you get a -rep that you deserved.

    I strongly disagree. Most people abuse reputation and give rep based upon opinions. I can easily document a massive number of neg reps I've had that were obviously based on hatred.

    So how come I receive a very small amount of those types of negative reputations?

    Same. I've received reps I don't deserve. I'm usually a good poster on these forums and yet I still get bad reps just for stating my opinions. What you are saying, Tribulations, is not true because there a good posters out there who are bad repped because they just said their opinions.

    In all honestly, I think people are doing it because they think it's making them look good but it's not.
