    Racism is a big problem today but the is far from the issue. At my school it is really affends the black students if "A white girl tries to act like a black girl" or " A white boy tries to act like a black boy" and it affends some of the white students to if "A black girl tries to act like a white girl" and so on. I really don't understand what it truly means to be white or for a person to be black. So do you think people should act like their race or whatever.
     
    I'm weird. It bothers me that white boys act like African American Ghetto people, but I don't mind it when African Americans act like white people.

    Maybe I just don't like the ghetto attitude they get :<
     
    Even though I don't like it when caucasian's (gotta use the right word) try to act like African Americans, since it's annoying. I mean, even other races will do it. I hate my school since I sometimes don't like how African Americans are streotyped to act like.
     
    People should just act how they want to act, I mean act themselves. Some people may be African American and act Caucasian. That just might be how they were raised and how they normally act. There's no set way to act or to do certain things
     
    I really hate the 'ghetto' attitude no matter what the race of the person who displays it is. It wouldn't be right to call it 'acting black', because that assumes that it's natural for all african americans to act like they grew up 'in the hood' and that's just stereotyping.

    On a seperate note, I don't really like it when people try to fit in to a culture other than their own just because they think it's cooler. There's a difference between appreciating a culture or group of people and trying to be in with that culture/group. It's generally not hurting anyone, no, but it's often taken as a mockery of the culture that's being imitated.

    I agree completely.

    Anyways, I voted for "No.". People should be able to act how they want to but as long as it doesn't offend anyone. I just kind ignore when a "Caucasian tries to act Black", though it happens at my school a couple of times.
     
    Pretty much. I'm the biggest piece of white-trash I know, and I'm only 33%white. (If that) If i've learned anything in my eighteen years of life, don't let others define you. If you like a certain lifestyle, live it!
     
    I know what your getting at, but people are trying to act like one of the stereotypes as a way to fit into social groups.
    For example not all black people act 'black', well whats 'black'? some kind of rap artist/street ganster style? Or a boxing style? Or some kind of third world country culture? It applies for other races.
    I think that people outside racial group, who want to fit in (for street cred. whatever) by acting stereotypically, are inspired by media industry/peer pressure.
    It's not only to fit and be accepted but also to appear different to their own ethnic group. Sometimes however it's just for laughs.

    I have a caucasian friend who tries to behave similar to a stereotypical eastern person, sometimes its humorous, but at times it can just appear a little sad, because he's trying to be someone he'll never be.

    Same here my mom tells me that I should listen to rap because almost every AA likes it, I hate rap (not trying to offend anyone who does.)
     
    people should act what like what they are. i hate seeing white guys acting like a black guy. It doesn't bother me with girls, b/c well, its all the same with them, but white guys robably act like blacks b/c well, in my school there aren't to many, so maybe they think they should "Fill the void"

    It doesnt matter who you act like.
    People imitate behaviors based upon their personality. If they feel like a certain behavior is capable of expessing how they feel at the moment then they will use it.
    I hate it when people tell me to 'act my own race' because it's my right to express myself how ever I please. I hate stereotypes too. They are so annoying. No two people act perfectly alike. Stereotypes are supposed to be for fictional characters IMO. One should NEVER EVER cast one upon another person.
     
    In my opinion,I don't think there's a proper way to act your race. Everyone has diffrent lifestyles,and if it bothers people that's just stupid.
    People can act however they want,it shouldn't be made up into such a big issue.However acting like a diffrent race in way to offend them,that's another thing =\
