This is part 3 of the Anime Matsuri series

    February 28, 2016

Instead of actually posting them here, I'm sharing my Facebook album!

Second year of Anime Matsuri for me is in the books! I'm so glad I got to go all three days!

Compared to last year, I actually got to experience what Houston's biggest Anime convention is like. When Roy gave me access, I was very curious because I didn't know what to expect, especially in an ANIME convention. But now I know! I'm really glad I got to enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

Sunday, we woke up a little later than usual, however…with Roy's feet still a little sore from the walking the past couple of days, I still wanted him to rest them a little longer. On the brighter side, I volunteered to drive to and from the convention for the last time, as I have been doing so the past couple of days. So we ate breakfast at home, drank coffee, and we were out the door at around 11 am.

There weren't that many people at the con this time, as it was Sunday. The con closes at 4 pm, so we had plenty of time to check out the Dealers Room and Artists Alley before it's all said and done. According to Roy, Sunday is ~usually~ the day the majority of the dealers have a special flash sale on all the merch. We hoped that was the case when we got there. However, we got there too late as the majority of the "good stuff" was gone. I was hoping I would get a second figurine at a great price (preferably a Hatsune Miku, Sailor Jupiter, or Luka Megurine figurine), but all there was were anime figurines that I've never heard of (yet). We both ended up getting art from Artists Alley instead. I finally found some decent Undertale art (probably the ONLY booth that sold it), as well as a Splatoon poster. There weren't as much good Splatoon art, but I ended up buying one anyways.

The best purchase of the day? I finally got a Splatoon inkling girl hat. Perfect base for my incoming Splatoon cosplay. It's green and the tentacles are stuffed. It's absolutely perfect. It was the best $40 I've spent.

Final thoughts on Anime Matsuri? It's amazing. I'm also glad Roy got to go all three days this year. Last year he could only go for one day because of family issues, hence he had to pass on his badge to me. I feel like…I spent so much all weekend. Not just food or parking but merchandise alone. My car is overloaded with merch. I can't wait to unpack when I get back to my place in Houston. And surprisingly my tax refund came around before the con came around, so I was pretty lucky right now.

I'm already working on getting next year's pass! Gonna try to spend $45 instead of waiting until the last minute (like I did this year). I've become very close to this convention (and COMiCPALOOZA), and I wouldn't miss it for the world. Maybe I'll finally cosplay this time!
