5th Gen Aloe

It'd be cool if some gym leaders had two types now,more of a challenge. D;

Hmm she is a chef. Interesting, it she is gym number two then it is a little bit ironic that the first gym leader is what looks like a waiter.

She's black... That's it. I don't see why people are going crazy with excitement about it.

The reason that there weren't any black people in previous Pokémon games is simply because... Well... When was the last time you saw a black person in Japan?

There aren't even that many, if any, white people in the game. They are all Japanese.

Lt. Surge along with all those other blondes wallowing around the region are said to be Americans, and I heard Fantasia was, erh, French?

Anyways, on topic, the fact that she's a cook may indicate that she helps you bake the next contest confection for your Pokémon, assuming contests are included in some way, shape, or form in this game.

Her name is Fatima and in America she is French... in France she's American XD

On Aloe, I'm excited for her but I am really a bit nervous about her being a bit offensive to some people. That can only be determined by how she will be portrayed in the anime... no Aunt Jemima please. Also, she is darker than I expected, but maybe I was not paying attention the first time we saw her.

Fantina also spoke English in the Japanese version.

I don't think we have to worry about Aloe offending anyone, hopefully GF has learned from the Jynx incident. :|

I'm going to go ahead and join the people that predict Grass-type, but for some reason I think she'll use something different.

She isn't made in a racist way, but she is made with a ton of references towards africans.

- Aloe is an african flower
[PokeCommunity.com] Aloe

- She is a chef (a hint of of Southern African American Women that are usually known for being awesome cooks)

- She lives in a town with an 100 year old railroad (hints at the Underground Railroad)

- Shippou City could be named after a religious Buddhist term for the "Seven Precious Treasures," being Gold, Silver, Pearls, Agate, Crystal, Coral, and Lapis Lazuli. Some of these have been game namesakes to boot. It can also be named after "Cloisonne," which is enamel work ("enamelware in which colored areas are separated by thin metal strips"). So the city may deal in religion or art (or perhaps uses the metal from that religious term for the enamel work). Considering Aloe is wearing a big apron, she might be a cloisonne ware maker. Cloisonne is ware making is native to Egypt. In case you didn't know, Egypt is in Africa.

I think she's a craftswoman (maybe), historian, and cook. Her gym is part of the city's museum: This is the white building N is standing in front of in a screenshot. She seems to know a lot about cooking, too. She could be a craftswoman, but maybe in Black and White town name themes return, and this time we could be seeing precious metals/stones. The city reflects an old, charming rail-town atmosphere IMO.

@Haza: I doubt they'd portray her offensively. I wouldn't be too worried. Addressing the darkness: Phoebe and Brock were ambiquously brown (in anime and games, or either or in Brock's case). They could be taken as South Asian. Aloe, however, has a darker complexion so that there won't be any confusion in her case.
