Spoiler: AU HxH Wasteland Verse Description

    Wasteland Verse:
After a nuclear explosion, the world came into chaos. People have tried to escape reality through a virtual game called "Wasteland". In order to score points and survive, players must kill their opponents. These points are traded for real money. For every hundred kills the sum increases by 20%. The nature of the game is to prepare psychologically skilled soldiers to fight in mind-controlled machines. In the game, you can play single or in a group. The money is then shared evenly if you participate in a group, however, the money is received once you register your group's members outside of the game. By joining a group you run the risk of being betrayed and killed before receiving the money.

There are many areas in the game which resemble the real world but radioactive creatures have been seen roaming around. In the forest one of the most skilled players, Killua, is going for his 100th kill. After finding another boy hiding behind the bushes, he ambushes him thinking it's going to be an easy kill. He was not aware though of the other boy's quick reflexes. Knowing the forest like it was his home, the other boy maneuvered around the trees and soon enough caught Killua in a trap. What Killua did not expect was for the other boy to reveal his identity and offer a truce. The other boy, Gon, wanted to form an alliance with him and promises to never betray him. Killua of course doesn't trust him but accepts becoming allies since he could kill him later. Despite being wary of possible betrayal, Killua noticed that Gon never backed down on his word. Never hinting of attacking him even once. And that's when Killua's life takes a twist and their fight for survival begins.

This is an AU I thought of at school, so I decided to write an intro and design some character profiles. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world; "Wasteland" refers to the waste of humans as beings that are only worth depending on their potential warfare value in this context. I don't know if I plan to go further with this, but I really liked the concept so maybe I will explore some ideas in the future. Hope you like it! [/QUOTE]

An alternative universe (also known as alternate universe or alternate reality), commonly abbreviated as AU, is a type or form of in which canonical facts of setting or characterization in the universe being explored or written about are deliberately changed. For example, AUs can involve alternate timelines where something that was canon in the original is made to happen. Another example where characters are placed in a completely different universe from it's own.

I always admire fans creativity when they take their favourite characters and create stories for them in alternative universes and sometimes cross them over with different series' universes. Whether it's by fanart, fanfiction or any other medium, watching other people in the fandom create these alternative universes - it kinda makes me wish they were real so I could see it myself.
One of my favourite AUs even though it isn't really Japanese made anime or whatever, is a Big Hero 6 AU:
    Spoiler:
On tumblr I often see the most thing crossed over with anything is SnK, but my personal favourite is all the sports anime been crossed over as if it's just one universe.
    Spoiler:
What do you think about Alternative Universes? And what do you think about crossing over two or more different series?

Do you have any personal favourite AUs/crossovers?

If you had the chance to put any anime character into an alternative universe/ situation of your choosing, what would you do?
If you could crossover two or more series together, which ones would you choose?

My favorite crossover is by far Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. Only CLAMP can make such an amount of universes fit into one story and still make sense. I just love it.

Going for unofficial crossovers, I'm very fond of those fanart that mix stuff no one could think of before... or actually you were expecting, like the funny ZeldaXPokemon crossovers that can be seen all over the internet :)

And if I could create a crossover I would go for a EvangelionXFLCL one. It would be hilarious.

Oh yea! =D I would just add xxxHolic to this because well... those series are connected and their alternate universes as well =D

As for unofficial, I'm not particularly interested in them.

When you mentioned alternate universes, I initially thought of Steins;Gate. But the alternate universe is a part of the story itself, so it doesn't fit the bill.

Crossovers are pretty funny sometimes, though. Especially when they are puns or jokes on different characters between series.

I do wish there were more Sanae/Suzuya and Youmu/Hamakaze ones.

It's also interesting when producers/artists do crossovers within their own universes. My favorite was the one between Chikan Otoko/OMK/Tsunbaka.

If this was the case I would go for When They Cry.

Ryukishi created Higurashi no Naku Koro ni concept, and a few years later a new 'unrelated' novel was released, titled Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

Sadly the anime adaptation sucks hard.

When you mentioned alternate universes, I nitially thought of Stens;Gate. But tha alternate universe is a part of tha stary itself, so it doesn't fit tha bill.
If it's really meant as universe, Steins;Gate is a bit different... there's one universe with branching timelines :D
