Am I wasting my time?

Here's my first competitive team. It's primarily a bunch of beatsticks, but Dusknoir is in there for annoyance. I've just started raising, but I'm having second thoughts. Is there any pokemon that should be replaced? And I'm not using ubers.

-Hyper Beam/Protect – I'm leaning towards the latter, but I'd like a second opinion

Salamence (Adamant) King's Rock
??? - (I don't know Salamence's ability)

-Curse? - I'm worried about the HP cut on this one...

Hyper Beam and its variants are very bad in competitive battle since it leaves you vulnerable for a turn.

Get a proper special sweeper, espeon is better as a baton passer, and you have nothing to receive Calm Mind boosts.

Dont use that, it dies to Stealth Rock and you have no spinner. Use Vappy, it provides your team with more support.

Eww, that needed alot of help, you need a Gyarados counter, so use t-punch and shadow sneak. Or Fire Punch, seeing as your beaten up badly by heracross.

Right changes are in bold, this need alot of work.


Get a special sweeper, your far too physical, and get a special wall aswell, dusknoir can do all the walling on its own.

Maybe a rapid spinner aswell, Mence hates Stealth Rock...


Also kinda Weavile weak...., a steel type such as metagross would go nice here.

Why must you run Sandstorm on such a team like this? The only Pokemon that aren't affected my Sandstorm is Mamoswine and Tyranitar. This team needs a better defense system. A steel type does good on this team.

I'll switch out Espeon for a Metagross, sounds good...

Here is what id do.

Keep the duskinor hes a very good defensive pokemon, and since you have none on your team keep him, altho duskinor is better with the egg move painsplit, and his nature needs to be defensive, either carefull which is preferd, or Impish.

His moves should be

Painsplit
Fire Punch or thunderPunch
ShadowSneak
Wilo-Wisp

As for switching Glaceon with vaporeon thats a bad idea IMO if you want a special sweeper i wouldnt go with one thats so slow like vaporeon. I would get a starmie be it timid or Modest, Timid being faster, Modest being more special atk.

Altho you dont have a rapid spinner so i would lose grassnot or icebeam for Rapidspin, but those 4 above are the best choices for a special sweeping starmie it can cover almost any pokemon and its faster then most of them too.

And for Espeon keep it, change its nature to timid

Change its move set to this, it would be really nice combo'd with the starmi, substitute to scout what the oponent is trying to use on, then do a calm mind and if you know Psychic wont cover it, baton pass out to starmie who will most likely be able to kill whoever your fighting specially with the boosted special atk your getting.
