Well, Macabre posted a thread before the server switch a couple of weeks ago and the database ate it up. Unfortunately, he hasn't felt like posting the thread again and I'm not sure if he ever plans to so I decided to take his place. Only because I think it would be great if this forum had an Anime Style Battling League.
I believe in throwing the blunt questions forward instead of using long words no one can understand so do you think it would be possible for this forum to run an Anime Style Battling League? Of course, there will be numerous obstacles to overcome should the idea go underway (which it probably won't), such as organisation, rules, guidelines, people in charge of it, ec cetera.
For those of you who don't quite know what an Anime Style Battling, I recommend clicking these links to get an idea*. Basically, you're a trainer with Pokémon, you battle against other trainers and someone refs you. You build up money/points/levels/some other reward scheme to unlock perks such as evolutions of your Pokémon or money. It's quite addicting.
The first problem or query raised would probably be that this forum is too busy and that would cause the ASBL to be horribly dysfunctional. That's one of my main worries as well and it's what's kept me from posting this thread for quite a while. All I can say to that is that anything can be managed properly so long as everyone wants it to be managed properly. More people can debate for and against that point in this thread if they wish.
Various other questions and problems are going to be encountered along the way, ranging from how many boards would be needed to whether an ASBL is even necessary. To the second question, I have to admit that it's not necessary at all. It's just fun, despite the fact that a lot of people would need to be dedicated to it.
In conclusion, I don't think that the idea will be taken into any sort of serious consideration, but I would love for it (as many others would, I'm sure) to happen. I've talked with various members of staff about it and they've said that it hasn't been attempted before. Well, you're never going to know whether you should have done something until you do it, aye?
All of you can feel free to shoot the idea down.
*I think that linking to other forums/websites is okay if you're trying to explain something, right? I'm not a proper member on those forums but if it counts as advertising, feel free to edit the links out of my post.
