Question: Any chance....

You have to be a business to look professional? I'm not saying it doesn't look professional anyways, I'm just saying it wouldn't hurt. :/

Also, you could just create a format for users to post their guides in, that way you would just have to upload them to the ftp, and they could provide a link to their profile in the bottom of the page, thus giving them credit.

It would be used as a place where a user can find information in an organized fashion, instead of searching through thousands of threads for it.

But eh, I give up, I just can't believe that none of you would even consider having an organized place for all the stuff. Like I said, it would just make you look more professional.

(And besides, users would still be the ones creating the information for the site, thus still being user driven)

What don't you understand about community sites?
PPN Studio
Seafoam Island
Total Pokemon

All of the above sites are linked to PC and PC is linked to them. All of those sites have news and information about Pokemon in which you may have to search up anyway since they aren't going to have a main page full of information from X amount of years having been open and having updated with Pokemon information and whatnot. If that isn't enough, then why are you saying that a search tool is basically something that this forum shouldn't have? It's the same with every other site. No matter what you're still searching for something. Typing it up in a search tool is a hell of a lot easier than having to find it through pages of a main site if you ask me.

Now it just looks like you're targeting the design of the community, which I'm sure the staff wouldn't appreciate because it takes a long time to work on a template for any site.

As per that, you can attach files to your threads, so I don't see what you're getting at.

Now your putting words in my mouth. Like Patchisou Yutohru said, there's a search function, not to mention tags. Plus the staff members are always here to assist newcomers and questions that the community's members have. :D

Well, I suppose you can go ahead and close this. Me giving a suggestion has basically turned into me getting shot 10 times each with 5 different rocket launchers.

Well, if I at least had 1 person on my side, getting criticized wouldn't be as bad.

So here's all my argument in one big post.

First off I want to say that I don't want this site to lose it's discussion and community aspect, I just was hoping for an easier way to get important news and important tutorials/information in one main page, and then discuss everything about it in the forums, as well as any other discussion that might go on. Also, Marriland, for example, still has an amazingly comfortable community, but at the same time, if you don't feel like cyphering through all their threads, you can go to the main site for any information.

Also, the site looks very good, and I'm not saying anything about that, but it seems to be the only Pokemon site I see nowadays that has a forum, and yet no main page. I know, Pokecommunity is build for the community, and yes, I know fully that there are community sites, but they really aren't as effective as they're being led off as. I'd say the entire time I've been a member here, I've visited those site, at most, 7 times.

I'd like to type in https://pokecommunity.com everyday and see what's up with the news, if I was coming for a guide, I could click on the link for it, or if I just wanted to come chat, I could go to the forums. Also, a Staff Information page could be added to the site, and I could learn a little about the people who run the site. I just think in all, a main page could/would make you guys look a lot more involved, as members could learn about you, hear what's up with the site, and then discuss all they could ever want to here in the forums. The only difference would be that there's easier access to everything you need, a much more informative way of learning about the site/staff, and increased activity (Although I seem to be the only one that thinks it will increase the overall activity on the site).

So I suppose that's about all I have to say.

PC is just forum, it Isn't meant as a site forum.

Some sites (PPN, Seafom Island and Total Pokemon) however use it as one.

Also, I figured I would throw in the idea of only linking to the threads on the main page, instead of moving all the information there.

Before the staff join the staff, they are posters... so, assuming they would have told you something about their lives before getting modded (well, through posts... if you were that interested.) If you really wanted to know about the staff, you could research it... basically, the staff are around to moderate posts, not give a life history, and if they did, that'd be their decision in their posts, rather than displaying everything out in the open. And, also, I was searching through threads one day and they created a thread in which they explained things about themselves (in the past) so why not suggest to redo something like that? And, how would... learning about the staff increase activity?

Also, I figured I would throw in the idea of only linking to the threads on the main page, instead of moving all the information there.

Wouldn't that decrease the professionalism you were aiming for?

Long story short, if you feel PC should have a one-stop place for information like that, go bother the site admins. THEY are the ones who run the community sites and thus they would be the ones to set something like that up on their own sites, be it PMing the informational thread creators to ask permission to use their guides on their sites or writing up entirely new ones in their spare time. The reason they're purple at all is because they made the sites that PC "belongs" to (in the sense that SPPf belongs to Serebii.net, etc.) so if you have a suggestion for PC's main site? They're the ones you go to. They run PC's main sites.

Like everyone has said, we already have a main webpage. The difference between us and most other forums is that we have more than one. So if you want a main site with good news updates, informative content, and all that useful stuff you're mentioning? Ask the site admins to see about adding content like that to their websites. Otherwise, just use the forums.

Well said Lightning. I would also like to add that Pokecommunity is just a forum, if people have a question about sites than they should ask the respected Site admin of the site or post in the Forum dedicated to them.
