Anyone else besides me think dawn's skirt is a little short?

Yeh it's too short!! She'll have to go through the whole series never bending over or down rather...

Yes I agree. Dawn's skirt is too short, probably on purpose <3. I mean, what 10 (or 11) years old would like to wear a skirt so short? Oh the Japanese...

I have thought/noticed this a few times while watching the show. It does seem a little too short.
 
different countries, different standards

When I first saw Dawn (Hikari), I thought her skirt did seem a bit short...

Japanese 'decency' standards are vastly different than in the U.S. (and most other places in the world, especially the Middle East!) Yet back in the 1950s and earlier, little girls in cartoons would be seen frequently in very short skirts (even upside shots)!

(This could be another reason why KidsWB dumped Pokémon in the first place [somehow knowing ahead of time a 10-year old girl with a very short skirt could become a regular character]-considering the onerous regulations on over-the-air broadcast TV these days-just as I pointed out in another thread.)
 
Let's see if she thinks it's too short whenever she's decked in her Platinum winter gear. Heh.

Edit: Otter, Kids WB didn't dump Pokemon for that. Besides, Hikari's appearance wasn't public knowledge in 2006, and I'm sure Nintendo didn't drop any hints.

It was more their desire to get away from anime, among other reasons.
 
Hah, I think I noticed how short it is...and I WILL NOT believe that Dawn and May are ten yrs old!! No way!! They look totally like they're twelve to fourteen!! :\??

Ah well, this IS a cartoon after all...
 
Y'know, when I first saw Dawn I didn't even notice she had a short dress. I still don't think it's short. I mean, it can't get much short...but I don't think it's that big a deal. I mean, she's wearing wellies and long socks so I don't think it matters as much *shrugs*
 
As the former directer even said, it's all for the eye candy. ;D Skirts like that run around here where I live, so I can't complain. XD! (Lol, beach wear) I don't mind it, it's not oh so so short really. It's short and all, but I doubt anyone's necessarily complaining, to be frank. XD
 
Dawn's skirt is normal-sized by Japanese standards. Girls wear skirts that length in school uniforms, after all. It's similar to the way people in the West are used to clothing like what Misty wears because Western girls wear tank tops and short shorts all the time.

Nintendo gave Dawn the miniskirt so boys will have eye candies! x3
Which means are our 5th gen female protagonist will be... Um... Sexy too... *drool* xDD

OMG YES, whenever I see it, it seems to get shorter and shorter haha!

Although I am not saying thats a bad thing xD!
 
ugggh i live on a street that has an Intermediate School on it. Some of the stuff that the young girls are wearing when they are walking there is just plain wrong.

So i say the skirt is fine.

Well, that's just all kinds of wrong. Heh. If only Nintendo upped her age, then it wouldn't be so odd to ogle her. Hehe. Fortunately, I don't care for her anime character, so her mini-skirt is the least of my worries. Heh.
