4th Gen Anyone else do this?

    Well i dont know why but ever since the original game i always over train my starter before the first battle with your rival. I almost always have them evolve before heading back to the lab.

    Right now my totodile<3 is lv10 and i may have it evolve before moving on once again like in the original.

    So does anyone else ever do this? i like the satisfaction of completley crushing my rival that first time haha
     
    I do that too! My starter (Totodile in this case) is usually lv.10-15 before i face my rival the first time. XD
    you already got your copy? I'm getting mine (Soul Silver) later today.
     
    On my ROM (since HGSS is not out in Romania yet ...) I had my fight with my rival with Totodile at Lv. 12 . Seriously , I just like beating the crap out of him for the 1st time ... >:-)
     
    Nope, I've never done that. The highest I put my 'mon up to is 6. I'm so proud of myself 8D

    yes i already have my copy of soul silve! and glad to see others like beating the snout out of the little punk! haha
     
    no never tried it before, but maybe I will when I get my copy of SS..

    In Diamond BabyLove (Infernape) was lv.100 before Faceing my rival for the first time made it hard to catch pokes though
     
    I usually train to level 6 or 7 but I've never gone past 8. It makes catching pokémon after the rival battle harder if you train too much.
     
    Nope.I just take things as I go.

    I overlevel for the next meetings (particularly on Emerald, where I always get raped by Treecko/Grovyle if I'm not 10 levels above, as my first pokemon able to learn a flying move is always Flygon)
     
    I always try and get hoot-hoot and my starter to level 10 :D (in hg and c I always caught a hoothoot straight away)
