Anyone heard of Evangelion?

    there's this anime/manga called Neon Genesis Evangelion. it's a pretty good show. has anyone ever heard of it?

    it's not that popular, but in my opinion, at times it gets better than pokemon!
    (note how i said AT TIMES, mods)
     
    Yeah only one of America's top Robot Anime.It's a good show.

    cool. i ask because it's not very popular, when most good animes are(like pokemon, yu-gi-oh, DBZ, etc.)
     
    Mabye because those shows is on TV and Evangelion did not.Not a lot has seen it.
     
    hmm.....

    maybe i could email cartoon network and get them to show it? i know it has some parts that aren't exactly 5-year old material, though, and CN tends to show stuff"for all ages". i don't want it on adult swim, though, because they
    1. tend to change their shows frequently
    2. i wouldn't get to see it.... I'M 13 years old and mom makes me go to bed at 9!!!![yells for hours at no specific person until post ends]

    and by not popular i meant not that many people i know know that it even exists!
     
    CN can't play it for the simple fact that most children actually wouldn't understand it, I had a -really- hard time linking up all the sub plots^^; And because ADV has the rights to it, CN and ADV aren't the best of friends, plus it'd have a helva lot of edits^^
     
    I've heard of it, but I haven't seen it yet. My boyfriend likes it. He seems to have seen every anime that I've heard of and lots of stuff I don't know about...lol/

    you can't call yourself a true otaku if you haven't watched Neon Genesis Evangelion.
    it's about 10 years old now.
     
    You can't call yourself a true Otaku period....or why would you wanna be? It's a sick term XD Really Otkau doesn't mean anime fan in the least bit, hate that misconseption.

    NGE is not as golden and classic as people take it to be. Sure it had a very heavy story, but that doesn't make it timeless. It's more or less a story about the end of the world, and humans trying to defeat God and make a substitue for them(the EVAs). I just saw this a while ago , about 2 years and I've been into anime far longer then that. It wasn't as great as people said, just very overhyped.

    Oh and FR/LG master it's ok to like something better the pokemon, I actually don't like the pokemon anime much myself(or haven't gotten up to see it XD).

    Man, Adult Swim's been trying to get rights to Evangelion for years now, but Gainax is being stubborn. It was only recently that they got FLCL. I wonder if this means that Gainax is finally giving way?

    (If you've been on their message boards you know they're trying.)
     
    I wouldn't believe a thing you hear on AS boards, more or less it's usually BS ^^; Gainax is the Japanese animation studio, so CN airing Eva would have to deal with ADV/Geneon the rights holder to the English version, not Gainax[.
     
    nge was my first anime I neva missed an ep I even saw the special with the alterte ending in both shiji gets the power of god from the angles and he destroys the earth for all the pain and suffering it caused him and in the other he destroys himself othewise the earth risks total destruction
     
    I think the actual anime itself didn't get good until like the middle-end when things started to pick up. It does, however, deal with so many mature themes that if CN were to get it, it would be horrific for NGE. I mean, think about all the butchering that would be done. O_O

    If Adult Swim got it, it wouldn't cut out too much. Just the... scenes and the f-words. (FLCL only had one edit in it, for example.)

    But if you are gonna complain about a station that hasn't even gotten rights to the show yet, not a problem. Because, they still sell it on video and DVD at stores.
     
    Ah i love Neon Genesis Evangelion its really good, I first saw it on the Sci-Fi channel when it was on at 1 am ish, then it was moved to saiko exciting on a saturday morning.

    The Fights on this anime are great, and the stroy lines are good to boot.
    It has humor and drama in it, and it has its good bits, byt it also has its bad bits!
     
    Ive watched this show when it first appeared on Cartoon Network long time ago. I didn't really get the story plot of the robots called Angels coming to destroy the earth. I'd have to say i only liked that orange hair colored girl and thats the one thing id have to say about the show in which i remember from.
