Has anyone realized that on Arboks snake body it has a face....design!? Does anyone know what it truly means or if the pokemon has some history of the mark/face/design on Arbok. Arbok amazes me, because its really cool looking and I wanted to know of that thing. lol Thanks for replying! ^_^

Well it probably has to do with the fact that Arbok's design is based off of a Cobra.

In the manga, the type of pattern Arbok has gives it a special power. Like Koga's Arbok, for instance, has a pattern that allows it to regenerate so long as the head is kept intact.

says on my pokemon fire red pokedex it's meant to be a scary face to scare other pokemon

    ^ that's exactly it's use.

Like some animals, they use some of their body parts to intimidate, taunt other pokemon, or to camoflage. It's a way to catch their prey or to defend themselves. Another example is Masquerain. It has Intimidate.

    ^ Gawain wraps it up.

It just has those markings in order to look intimidating to other pokemons. Other than that, I don't think that it has any ancient meaning or such...

i knew it was there just didnt think it had any meaning at all 'A reptilian with purple scales over most of its body. It has lost the rattle it had on its tail as an Ekans. Like a cobra, it can spread out its ribs into a hood. On its "hood", it has a design much like an angry face. The frightening patterns on its belly have been studied. Six variations have been confirmed.' i found this on bulbapedia about arbok though

He have different paterns, and that pattern is different from regio to regio.

here you can see 2 different patterns:

Do I get a special prize? lol
Yeah, it's supposed to scare off predators.

it's mostly just to scare predators off and maybe the artist who made it thoguth it looked cool i mean try to make Arbok with no scary face it dont look right and hey i just said it. it's like the move "Scary Face".
