Are any battle items worth it?

    Well I've been playing Pokémon games for most of my life and I've never used any of the X-items or Sacred Ash during battle. Do you guys think that they are useful at any means or are they useless?
    In every game, I think that there is only one available Sacred Ash in the game if any and I thought when should I use it? HG/SS has a use for it (vs. Red) but that's about it.
    Now moving on to X-items. Are they useful too? They waste a turn in battle and I THINK that they ware off after battle, what good is that? It would be something if they didn't ware off.


    So what do you guys think? :)
     
    I never use X-items and I don't even know what a sacred ash is, let alone what it does. :I

    I just think X-items are a waste because they only boost one stat, they waste a turn, and the effects wear off once the pokemon is switched out of battle. It's not worth it in game, and you can't even use it competitively, so what's the point? By the way, with the way the thread is worded, you make it sound like you're asking if any battle item is worth it. And yes, there are a ton of items worth using. ;)
     
    Battle items can be handy for major in-game battles with Gym Leaders and the like. I remember having to use loads of them on my Feraligatr in order to beat Clair, otherwise it wouldn't have been possible without grinding.

    Also, Sacred Ash can only be used outside of battle, so I'd say it's best used in the middle of taking on the Elite Four.
     
    Thanks for correcting me, I never knew (I probably knew, just forgot) Sacred Ash is only out of battle. Thanks for telling me that so I don't waste a turn. :P And sometimes I don't even put thought into the topics, I'll make sure I pay more attention to that next time. ;)
     
    X-Items do have their place in game. The main place I see them used is in speedruns, or for that matter any time that you want to fight someone without needing to train a lot for them.

    For example, I just finished my SoulSilver run and my Pokemon+levels were as follows: 43 Mamoswine, 41 Ampharos, 40 Feraligatr, 39 Crobat, and 39 Machamp. The highest level Pokemon in the E4 on SS is Lance's Dragonite at level 50. For all of the E4 battles, I used some of the X-Items, mainly X-Attack, X-Special, and X-Speed. They're definitely a lot more useful than what most people think they are! :P
