I think many people, as well as myself, hold a close connection with a certain song, artist or even a paticular album. Possibly that song could have been playing on the radio when something very memorable happened to you, maybe a paticular artist got you through some tough times or perhaps there was that album you couldn't stop listening to?
So do you old a connection with a paticular song, artist or album?

As for me, Jeff Buckly's Hallelujah not because itsjust an all around emotional song.. I dont get upset if things are written in a way that is upsetting but my aunt was dying of cancer i stayed by her bed in the hospice (Home for cancer patients on thier death bed) for 5 days and myself and my family had the radio on and that song was played. The whole way through. Nobody turned it off because everybody knew each of us was reflecting on memories... So for 5-6 minutes there was pure silence and we all had our minds fixated on how much we were going to miss her. At this stage she was just sleeping 24/7 or just had her eyes closed unable to reply... But she was like a mother to me and that song just brings back all i reflected upon and all i miss about her. It was a sad moment but i've never had an experience that brought me so close to my family and so close to who i really am. It helpped me let her go in the end.
I've also had an artist help me though my early teens. the anger you get as being one, the emotional fluctuation, that was Linkin Park and their albums Hybrid Theory and Meteora, they really hellped me unwind and the lyrics just seemed so relevant to me, but then again, the lyrics were meant that way. Much like Horoscopes.
Lately I've been listening to an album on repeat, that is This Is War by 30 Seconds To Mars, it's such an artistic album so I'm sort of drawing inspiration from it a lot, since music, writing and art are such a big part of my life.
A few other songs that have gotten through to me would be Hurt by Johnny Cash (The Nine Inceh Nails cover), Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton, Older Chests by Damien Rice and Be Yourself by Audioslave.

There are a few songs that are dear to me and I tend to listen to them when I'm going through hardships and stuff. Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here reminds me of my friends back in Mexico. Orenji by Bonnie Pink brings back great Christmas feelings. Histoire Sans Paroles by Harmonium is probably the song that brings to me the most beautiful things I've felt.

I hold pretty close connections with a few bands and songs.

Kings of Leon songs always calm me down and just relax me, even when they're all high-rush songs. One song, Arizona, in particular, is a song I used to play after every date I went on with this one girl I was seeing. It was the epitome of my feelings and unfortunately when that relationship went down the toilet, I couldn't listen to that song without being bothered, but now it just reminds me of being happy and it's one of my favorite songs ever.

And back in my sophomore year of highschool, I listened to the band Billy Talent for almost 9 months straight, so any time I hear a song by them from their first two albums, I immediately get taken back to that year of highschool. It's just crazy to me, but nice.

Then Born Losers by Matthew Good is a song that just relaxes me. It's one of my favorite songs of all time and something about it just makes me feel like everything's going to be all right. Same for Sweet Disposition by the Temper Trap. I really only listen to it when it's raining or cloudy out, but that's just another song that gets me deep in the soul for some reason.

I'm sure I could name more, but this is like a novel already.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World (it's that one with the ukulele) makes me cry whenever I hear it. It reminds me of people I haven't seen in a long time and good times I can't go back to now that my friends and I have all gone off to different places.

In recent months I've been listening a lot to Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album because when I started to listen closely so many of the lyrics seemed appropriate to my life, not to mention it's a very good album to listen to anyway. The same is true for Imogen Heap's Ellipse album. It's kind of cathartic listening to them.
