Are There Any Spyro the Dragon Fans on This Site?

Are there? Because I absolutely LOVE Spyro...it is the ONLY game that surpasses Pokémon as my ultimate favorite video game ever (and that is saying a LOT...I usually only have a few video game series that I absolutely adore)! My favorite Spyro series is the Legend of Spyro, with Skylanders being a VERY close second, and the original classic Spyro series being third. So my question is if there are any other Spyro fans on this site! :D

P.S. I am a member of another forum that is dedicate to Spyro the Dragon!

Spyro 2 was a favorite of mine back then. Spyro 1 and 3 were alright, but 2 was just better in almost every way. The Spyro games after didn't capture me as the original did (I did like what I played from the gameboy advance game) and I absolutely hated Skylanders.

But looking back, the game didn't age well at all. I won't have the same enjoyment in playing Spyro 2 as I did back in the day, in contrast to Crash 2 and 3 which aged wonderfully.

I like the first one... I even did an LP of it, but it got cut short. I bought the first 3 a few years ago, and have still only played the first. I really do need to get back to them at some point. lol

I have only ever played Spyro: Enter the Dragon on the GC and keep restarting it because I love the game. I did see an LP of Spyro 3 on YT and I am now interested in trying the game out just for the stakeboard mini-game in it.

I've played the first Spyro and "Year of the Dragon", the latter being my favourite platformer of all time! I love all the quirky side-characters, the humour and the general atmosphere of the game, so much fun. ^^

Wow, that's cool everyone! I am so happy to see that I am not the only Spyro fan on this site! :D But can I ask, what does LP and GC stand for? Sorry if these are dumb questions... XD I love the Spyro skateboarding mini-games...they are so fun! :D and Cassiopeiia, if you liked Spyro the Dragon and Spyro: Year of the Dragonfly, I recommend playing Spyro: Ripto's Rage (or sometimes know as Spyro: Gateway to Glimmer). That game is very fun too, I think. Especially since there are plenty more quirky characters and fun mini-games and such in it! :D

I think that an LP is a "Let's play" (like on youtube) and GC is probably short for Gamecube.

I have been meaning to play Gateway to Glimmer for some time now, and I even bought it from the PS Store, but didn't really play it because the emulation offered by the PS3 disappointed me (the music was lagging, eugh)...
Someday though I will get around to getting a copy, and luckily I feel I can still have a whole lot of fun with Spyro,
    despite his age. :3

I wish there were more happy-go-lucky, colourful and peaceful games like Spyro around these days, most new games are so depressing, gritty and realistic, devoid of imagination and positivity... *-*

    Spyro! ^~^

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. :) And I understand...our copy of Spyro: Year of the Dragon is a bit messed up (like when the characters talk, their voices sometimes glitch up), and the music
as well. But we still play it anyways (but we play them on our original PS1). :D And I wholeheartedly agree with what you said...the newer Spyro games are very fun, but they don't have quite the same feel as the old games, if you know what I mean. Although I do love them in their own unique ways anyhow! ;)

I've been a fan of the Spyro games since the demo disk of the first game was released. Since then, I've played the Insomniac trilogy, Enter the Dragonfly, A Hero's Tail, the first two Legends games for the GameCube, the first Legends game for the GBA, Season of Flame for the GBA, and Skylanders for the DS.

The original Insomniac trilogy is probably my favorite ones. Not only because of nostalgia (when I watched an LP of Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon, I remembered everything), but because those games were just solid. The gameplay, the amount of exploration, the characters, the writing. Insomniac had a great thing, and in a way I'm glad that they ended the series when they did, instead of trying to force ideas and making the games grow stale.

I do have to say that I like A Hero's Tail quite a lot. It's colorful and bright and there's just enough of that classic feel to it that I can enjoy playing it. Though my disk is kind of messed up and so I can't play it without it suddenly stopping.

Skylanders is...alright. I think it would have been better if it never had Spyro's name slapped onto it, since I've nearly finished the DS version without ever using any of my Spyro figures. (I used Zap the most.) It doesn't really seem like a Spyro game.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the Legends series. I did like the new story to it, but the sheer amount of combat and how boring it was turned me off from the game. The GBA version wasn't bad, but it wasn't enough to keep me playing.

I kind of want to play Shadow Legacy for the DS. I've been eyeing it for a while, but never remember to look into it.

Ah, yeah, my first Spyro game was Spyro: Year of the Dragon. However, I thought that those enemy knights were jerks, so, I made it a point to burn every last one of em'. Good times!

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! was another childhood game, and it was just amazing. I remember thinking that Gulp was hard to beat though. I swapped turns with a friend of mine until I managed to beat him on our 5th swap. God, how I thought the was hard... but, replaying the game, 9 years later, he isn't as hard anymore. I guess I just hated the way that he was able to gulp down on Chickens to replenish his health. It was annoying to deal with while dodging all those attacks. :(

I played the GBA games just a little bit, but I never really gotten into them. Same with Skylanders, which I dunno, did it seem like a "Spyro" game? It felt like one of those MMOs, but, only with a couple of players. if that makes sense.

Cool everyone...I love how everyone has their own unique memories and thoughts on all of the games...I of course have my own as well. I remember playing the games when I was younger...ah, good times. :) And Astinus, I am having the same problem. I kinda want to play Shadow Legacy, but keep forgetting to get around to buying the game! XD I heard that many people thought that it was an awful game because of how horrible the camera was positioned, how slow Spyro is in the game, and such. :/ That doesn't stop me though! If it is a Spyro game, I want to play it! :D I kinda wish I had a Gameboy Advance (or even an original DS) so I could play the Spyro games made for it, but I just have a DSi...no DS or GBA. :( And for Skylanders, we have it for Wii but since I don't own a 3DS (and probably won't for a long time, if ever), I have never been able to play the version of Skylanders made for it. But I do <3 Zap! He was the first Skylander outside of the ones that came with the game itself that I ever got. :3 tigerBlade, have you ever played Spyro: Enter the Dragon? If not, I would recommend it since you love the other two original games so much! It is really fun (I think)! :D

I believe I played the three originals, Enter the Dragon, Hero's Tail and Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy. Crash and Spyro were my favorite video game series back as a kid. Once I got the Legend of Spyro games though, I absolutely hated it. They booted a few characters, and it was ridiculous. Then Skylanders came along. I'm appalled they even consider it part of Spyro; it's one large money sink and is disgusting. So, I'm a fan of the older games, yes. Newer ones? I detest them.

Yeah, I actually would probably have to say that Spyro: Year of the Dragon is my favorite out of the 3 original games! :D And we used to play our old PS1 games on our PS2, but it would never let us save them! I don't know why...I tried using our old memory cards, but they didn't work (maybe we were doing something wrong?)But it doesn't matter anymore anyways, since we got our PS1 hooked back up, thank goodness!:)

Oh, you must have just posted before I made my last post Discordant! Sorry about that since I just now noticed...but anyways, that is cool (although I personally love The Legend of Spyro and Skylanders, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course). ;)
