Ok well it must have been a few weeks ago I watched the episode from the Johto series where the gang along with the guy from Pokemon Snap search for Articuno and eventually find it in this mountain (sorry I really can't remember the names and stuff, fill in the blanks yourself). The quest went over 3-4 episodes I think it was, and in one of the episodes it was mentioned that 'The Articuno' travelled to this mountain at certain times. It got me thinking, is there always just 1 of every legendary in the anime or could there be a few? I mean look at the episode in the Johto series with Lugia and its child for example.

Could it mean the Articuno in this episode and the Articuno in the Pokemon Movie 2000 are different? As they are living in different places? Or could it just be the writers not paying attention?

The overall question I'm really curious about is, are there more than 1 of each legendary Pokemon? Its never really been discussed before. I already know the status of some of them (obviously only 1 Mewtwo, more than 1 of Latios/Latias/Celebi) but what about the others?

There at least 2 legendaries in the amine i think

I thought Pokemon Movie 2000 was a Johto movie..

And since Celebi can travel through time, it's possible that it's the same Celebi just being in 2 places at once.

I also believe that there is more than 1 manaphy.

Pokemon that appear in the anime

I didn't say the film wasn't a Johto movie, I know it is.

You could be right about Celebi, but it appeared as if a few Celebis came down to help out the one in the movie.

Well in the amine there was definetly 2 artucino's
Coz prof oak said it live in one mountain and you could see it in battle frontier

Not sure about moltres and zapdos

the dogs were one of a kind

there was 1 celebi and ho-oh

there was 2 sets of regis

    1 rayquazas

    3 different deoxys

    I thought movies were non-canon...

I think there are more than one of the same legendary. Otherwise they've all been living forever and never die. I think the Lugia baby prooved that there is more than one of each legendary. I think Ash seems the same Ho-Oh every time though.

They only have one in the games so its harder and more "special".

there are three articunos and movie 2000 was a orange island film not johto

Yeah, in Master Quest both Ash and Team Rocket mention the Lugia they saw in Orange Islands (from the movie)

Well, obviously in the games there's only 1 of them, but in the series I really don't know...
That depends on if they are legends 'cause they DO NOT die OR they are legends 'cause they're really hard to find (in this case, they should have their babies and all that for not extinguing)... And in any of those cases, they're also legends 'cause of their powers...

I know that there are two Regigigas in the games... In the battle tower, there is someone who battles with a Regigigas.

This thread is about the amine, stop going off topic. It is confirmed that Articuno has appeared more than twice, weird, they should do that in the games(5, Articuno's)

Won't feel like a legendary then if there are 5 in the game. End up getting more Articunos than Pokemon like Rotom and stuff XD

you forgot Rayquaza, Palkia and Dialga. Its weird that there were actually 2 Lugia's in the OI. All because a Pkmn appears twice in the anime doesn't mean there are 2 of them. They must travel really fast then

what makes you say this? I never saw any evidence to suggest that...

Um, the fact that there are three Lugias in the anime isn't proof enough?

    Articuno appears three times:

The first appearance being in the Pokemon Movie 2000
The second time, Articuno appeared in the mountain
The final time, Articuno battled Ash's Charizard in Battle Frontier
