Ash has had quite a few teams throughout the anime's run. So, which do you think of Ash's teams was the most powerful of them, in your opinion? Why? Which team did you feel was the weakest?

In terms of my own opinion, Ash's Sinnoh team was the best hands down. Torterra, Infernape, Gliscor, Buizel, Gible, Staraptor and Pikachu was a very good team for a Trainer, especially in the way Ash trained them and the tactics he used. That final battle against Paul was a good indicator of how strong his team was as they beat a team that would probably be regarded as being much stronger than Ash's any other day whereas Ash usually loses in the League to a team that he should be no problem *cough* Unova *cough*

As for worst team, Unova is up there but it was redeemed by Krookodile, Leavanny, Palpitoad, and Boldore for being really solid members. Kalos is to be determined but i like the way its going with Ash's current team. Hoenn wasn't the greatest collection of Pokemon but the team really worked well with each other and with Ash which is all that matters. That leaves Johto and Kanto. Looking at the Pokemon who made up the teams they are pretty even. Squirtle was on par with Totodile, Cyndaquil wasn't quite as good Bulbasaur, Pidgeotto wasn't as good as Noctowl (not enough episodes to grade Pidgeot), Kingler and Muk were basically the same as Phanpy and Heracross, this leaves Bayleef and Charizard. Based off their respective first sagas, the nod has to go to Bayleef simply because she listened and didn't cost Ash a win in the Pokemon League. Thoguh if look at power, obviously Charizard wins but that isn't the only thing I'm looking at. I did not use Snorlax and Tauros as there wasn't enough to give either of them much of a grade, at least as far as I remember

So in conclusion: Sinnoh = best, Kanto = worst, but they are all solid teams but one had to come out on top and one on bottom.

In every sense, Ash's strongest team was his Sinnoh team. He actually bothered to fully evolve both his Turtwig and Chimchar - highly unusual for Ash, who seems to be really against evolution a lot of the time for some reason - and both of them had absolutely fantastic character arcs, and actually managed to hold their own against real powerhouses.

Hell, as a Grotle, Ash's Torterra held its own against Palmer's Rhyperior for a good amount of time. Sure, it got curbstomped by Bertha as a Torterra, but it did give a good account of itself. Chimchar got almost as much development as Ash himself through Sinnoh and, unlike Ash, actually had some decent closure: it went up against Paul's Electivire and won. It was a fantastic victory for it, considering how Elekid was arguably Paul's ace and Chimchar's rival of sorts.

With Buizel Ash got a Pokemon that had contest experience, which he even utilised in the Wallace Cup, and it came up with some highly creative moves and strategies. Gliscor and Staraptor were pretty weak by comparison, getting only a couple of episodes to develop moves, but that's more than some of his Pokemon in earlier and later seasons ever got...and they both evolved, too. As for Gible...ugh, I wish he'd gotten that sooner and evolved it. Gible had the potential to be a real powerhouse, but really he didn't get enough time to train it.

Ash's Sinnoh team was the only team I genuinely believe he could have won the league with. Hell, if he'd actually kept his Sinnoh team and played a little more intelligently, he could have beaten that cheating bastard Tobias, who freely admitted that only his Darkrai could have taken out Ash's Gible as easily as it did. Ash was just plain stupid in that match.

As for his weakest team...his Unova team. I think part of the problem here was that he had 9 Pokemon (excluding Pikachu) and he never really developed any of them, despite promising starts and a lot of focus on some of them; Oshawott and Snivy in particular. He only fully evolved three of them, and he never really trained them the same way he did his Unova team. They were all miserably forgettable.

His XY team is likely shaping up to be his strongest team by the end of the saga, especially if Goodra returns. His DP team was of course very strong, but its marred by Torterra's losing streak, its literally the only pokemon to actually get worse as it evolved.

His Hoenn team is his next strongest, with Sceptile arguably being Ash's second most evolved powerful pokemon after Charizard, (although with Greninja that could be debateable), but its at least part of the top 3. Swellow, Corphish and Glalie were also fantastic battlers.

His Johto team was lackluster, especially in the actual region. Only Bayleef evolved, Totodile is Ash's weakest pokemon in his entire lineup. Cyndaquil did decently but can't compete with Ash's other fire pokemon. Heracross and Donphan were good, but he didn't get Donphan till AG.

As far as i remember Cyndaquil was just as good as Bulbasaur, but each teams from different regions has something that makes them both strong and weak at the sametime.

Ash's Unova team standout the most, Pignite, Boldore, Krookodile, Leavanny, Palpitoad were all really strong powerhouses.

Ash's Hoenn team had some strong pokemon like Corphish, Swellow, Glalie, Torkoal, Grovyle. But they weren't his strongest team but still great pokemon.

Ash's Sinnoh team very strong, of course Pokemon like Infernape was the main powerhouses of his Sinnoh team, Buizel was kinda strong but still lost some battles, Torterra, Gliscor, Gible, Staraptor. He still wasn't going win the Sinnoh League no matter how strong his team was.

His Kalos team is turning out to be his strongest yet.

Ash's Kanto team awsome strong Pokemon, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charizard, Pidgeotto didn't have to many wins, Muk and Kingler both really strong Pokemon.

Ash's Johto team great strong Pokemon, Bayleef, Cyndaquil, Totodile had something that made it both strong and weak at the time, Noctwol is a strong pokemon but it only had one Gym win, Heracross and Phanpy both were great powerfull battlers.

    What's with all the quotes?

Anyway, I agree with the comments about his Sinnoh team. It was easily his greatest team for several reasons. The first was that (ignoring Pikachu), Buizel and Gible were the only members who didn't evolve and therefore had the likeliest chance of actually winning the league (until they pulled out Tobias). The battle with Paul is still one of my favourite battles within the anime as far as League battles go.

His worst team is probably Unova for the following reasons:
    1. His team were weak, and mean that statistically. The only decent Pokemon Ash had during Unova was Krookodile, and I really wanna see him return for the Kalos League. Maybe Leavanny as well.
    2. The anime (indirectly) which at the time was awful. Nothing else needs to be said.
    3. The lack of development the other weaker members got, which was made even worse considering that Palpitoad looked set to be pretty powerful had it evolved into Seismitoad and only got 8 episodes total screentime.

I can't remember his Kanto or Johto teams but I do remember Hoenn very well. Ash had a formidable team, even if some of them pulled of a few impossible feats *cough*Thunder Armor*cough* but notable credit should be given to Sceptile and Glalie for being surprising.

His Kalos Team looks set to be his strongest depending on how far he goes in the League. Ash fully evolved a pseudo legendary, which has to come back for the League no excuses writers! Ash is also a lot more mature compared to Unova and smarter as well if the battles against Clemont and Olympia are anything to go by. Others I wanna see come back for the Kalos League are Heracross, Glalie, Gible, Leavanny, Infernape and Staraptor.
