Ash or Satoshi?

Ash because I've been calling him that ever since I could remember
 
I call him Satoshi because I've only watched the raws/subs.
I've always find it a weird choice of the dubbers to give him the name "Ash", even before I started watching the Japanese version.
 
I like japanese names generally ( especially Sakuragi Hanamichi :) ) but this time

i choose you Ash Ketchum :D
