Ashes dad?

I think Ash's Dad died and he's truly adopted.

I'm not joking.

Ash looks nothing like Delia, his mom.

They both have brown eyes and aren't the sharpest tools in the shed?
Close enough for me.

And not everyone is a carbon copy of their parents, i.e. Same hair color and same eye color. (Looking at you Jun.)
More "resemblance" is hard to see in cartoons.

On a different note, if Ash's dad died, why wouldn't his so called biological mother keep him?

Hey, it's possible that they just might reveal him at a random time during a future episode via flashback.
The fact that his dad hasn't even been mentioned by some of his companions is one thing.
What if, perhaps, Dawn just happens to ask what his dad was like, etc?

Then again, Dad's seem to be very absent ion the Pokemon Series.
The trainers always start of at home, with their mother.
The only game and anime events against this is Norman's existence.
Johanna seems to be alone with Dawn, Delia was alone with Ash.
Brock's Dad left him at an early age but showed up again eventually.

Gary's only relatives seen are his sister and grandfather.
My guess is, there's always going to be an explaination behind it all that will be revealed someday, if ever.

EDIT:

Extracted text from a Bulbapedia Article on Ash that states the Series Storyboarder has indeed confirmed something on Ash's Father:

An interview with the series' storyboarder confirmed Ash's father is a Trainer on his own journey. According the same storyboarder, Ash's father may or may not be introduced at the series, depending on its necessity to Ash's further maturity and development as a Trainer.

Oh, and I should point out someone who is probably not Ash's father but... Delia and Spencer Hale(Unown researcher from Spell of the Unown) were said to be good friends whilst studying under Professor Oak. It's a possibility though.

I want Ash's Dad to be revealed but I honestly think it will be one of those things revealed at the end of the series or not at all.

As crazy and scary as this sounds, some people have actually said that they believe Professor Oak is Ash's Father....O_O it scared me when I first read that there were people who believed that in the past. I mean isn't Professor Oak just a little too old? sure I'll admit there are some similar features in their faces, if you've ever looked. But I've always believed that Professor Oak was the father of Ash's dad and Ash's dad had a brother who had Gary as his son. But like many have said, it could be one of those things that may never be revealed, unless something came along that gave the producers a reason to introduce Ash's Father.

Another thing that I always thought was, that his Father was a Pokemon Master surrounded in mystery. You never know we may get to see him at some point in the anime, but I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. :3

Maybe his Father is a Champion in some Upcoming Region, who knows.?

It's probably not him, after all... if they decided to add him in, he'd probably be the last challenge, as either a Champion, or the World Champion. (If they ever get that far.) I mean, it'd fall in with the rest of the crap on the anime, and it would explain how Ash became a good trainer.

(Before you laugh, I will remind you that he has placed in the top 4 once before, as well as won the Battle Frontier challenge, and the Orange Islands.)

I mean, it kind of makes sense! Ash is only like he is because he would have to be the son of the most powerful trainer in the world!

Probably not the case, but... hey, why not? Ash's dad is in the same pocket of existance as the GS Ball, and Ho-oh, so... yeah.

Two-thirds correct, I'm afraid. While it is definitely true that he won the Kanto/Hoenn Battle Frontier challenge, AND the Orange League, he has not won top 4 yet (remember, he stayed in the Top 8 position in Hoenn, a position he was promoted to in Johto.)

Oh, he's DEFINITELY in the same pocket. In fact, the writers even lied to 4Kids and to us by saying that Ash's father would be debut in Season 5, yet he never did. Heck, we never even got a mention. I'm afraid history will repeat itself [as a very similar comment was made in Comic-Con by a then-PUSA representative during that time. I recalled hearing of this on TV.com, and they even had a speculation thread dedicated to it.].

didn't you get the memo? they skipped season 5 and went to season 6, there is no other logical explanation.

>.> I say ash is either Jesus, or his own father (futurama style stuff you know?)

to be honest i dont think he has a father now..... its a cartoon program.....! Plus maybe they only put his mom in it because in the game red had no dad XO

Silver from chronicles 018 is the best candidate for the fact that he is the genitor of Ash,
-he was surprised when Ritchie mentioned Ash
-he looks like him
-they both saw a legendary pokemon, moltres is like ho-oh, im not an expert in this stuff so i dont know whats legendary
-Silver+Delia=ash
