Nope I don't think it should've. However, Quilava, and Typhlosion are some great pokemon; Cyndaquil evolving though would have made the relationship between Ash and his pokemon a bit more akward. And plus, Cyndaquil is extremely cute in my opinion.

I do agree that Cyndaquil was really cute and it was already pretty strong. I still consider it Ash's strongest out of the Johto starters, even though Chikorita was the only one to evolve. While I was okay with it not evolving, I would have preferred it evolving at least to a Quilava. It did have the most gym battles in Johto out of all of the starters so I thought that would give it enough strength to evolve. It's too bad that it didn't happen, but it's okay for me at the same time.

I think it had plenty of options to evolve and should of it would of been great is ash had a quilava

I think it should have become a Quilava. It wouldn't have changed much, other than Totodile being a bit tiny and alone...

So ok, it was better for Cyndaquil not to evolve :3

I wouldn't mind Ash having a Quilava, it is pretty cute n all :D But it would need to be instead of Chikorita evolving D:
I prefer Bayleef over Quilava, so I'm fine with Cyndaquil :3

All of them should of evolved. Or atleast one of them and the others would refuse to evolve.

Even if Cyndaquil should evolve now, it won't get much screentime.

But yeah, it wouldn't mind seeing Cyndaquil evolve. Considering that Ash has used Cyndaquil quite a lot in battle I would say it would have gathered enough experience to evolve.

I definitely think Ash's Cyndaquil should have evolved – because there were so many hints pointing to it in the episode "You're a Star, Larvitar".
-Ash battles a trainer with a Magby, using his Cyndaquil, but ends up losing
-The Magby trainer warns him about the Silver Conference, and how many trainers there will have evolved Pokemon
-The Magby trainer also states that evolved Pokemon are stronger overall than unevolved ones
-Later, Ash sees some teenage guy training with his Quilava – Cyndaquil's evolved form. Isn't a bit odd how they'd show a trainer using the evolved form of the Pokemon Ash just lost with?
-Ash then realizes that that teenage guy's Pokemon is the evolved form of his. As if that's not enough, he gets a flashback of the Magby trainer's lecture about evolved Pokemon being stronger than unevolved ones. I thought for sure he'd evolve his Cyndaquil in that episode. Instead… that Magby trainer ended up evolving his Magby.

If it did have to evolve I would say Quilava would be as far as it would need to go.

Though, I don't think it needed to evolve, it is really cute, and I think that is what the writers were aiming for in the anime at that time.

I don't think it should have evolved. Because Ash doesn't need another Fire Superpower since he already has Charzy.

Totodile should have evolved though. He needs a water superpower :D.

Clearly should of evolved to Quilava, hell they done a whole episode about it. It's one of the few things in Johto I was upset by, as Ash's team seemed very weak when Charizard and Squirtle left, and then later on Bulbasaur. Despite this, I really enjoyed all three of Ash's Johto starters having very differant personalities, like his Kanto starters.

In Johto, Ash never really had a strong powerhouse in his team, great series never the less.
