It is a matter of gravity. For you see, it is a far too seldom known fact that the force of gravity acts roughly tenfold on a rat's tail, the exact number varies with where on the planet the rat is located, thus keeping them firmly pinned to the ground. The term used for the measurment of this phenomena's effect on rats is called the Avocado constant (A) for some reason.

Will you recieve less of the harmful UV radiation if you walk with your back turned towards the sun?
