Assembly Required [DIY Toy Hobbies Club]

Mostly some smaller stuff I've made recently.

Lego Creator 3-in-1; Parrot option:
Spoiler:

Another Lego Creator 3-in-1 set; Aquarium option:
Spoiler:

Made the above not long after my previous post. Today I made 2 Pokemon Mega Construx sets.

Galar starters + Pikachu:
Spoiler:

A Lapras that moves it's... fins or whatever they're called, when you roll it back and forth and the turning thingy on it's back let's you rotate the head around.

Spoiler:

It's fun seeing all whole museum above, from van Gogh paintings, to books, a menagerie of animals and pokemon all in lego form! We even got ourselves a ship! I have been admiring Fairyland Minifee dolls for awhile, and decided to get one for my birthday, and have put all the pieces together.

The name of this release is Istet. I was worried that they might be hard to put together, but it's very friendly to newbies. My, my, my! I am calling her Arsinoe in honor of Cleopatra's sister. Here she is. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I just love her!

Finally made the Nanoblock Umbreon & Espeon today, they've have been lying around forever now. I had them join nanoblock Eevee on it's base plate.... :fufu:
Espeon & Umbreon were the only nanoblock eeveelutions I hadn't made yet.

Spoiler:

Flareon, Vaporeon & Jolteon on individual base plates:
Spoiler:

Sylveon, Leafeon & Glaceon sharing a base plate:
Spoiler:

And a front shot of all of them lined up:

I finally got around to try out crocheting some stuff. Those are my first three projects.

I'm still looking for a better doll base. This one was a little messy and missing a couple steps that I had to improvise. I also don't like how the head was supposed to fit onto the body...

I made a cat. I also wanted to make a doll of Pyra from Xenoblade 2. The latter was harder than expected and I had to change her clothes to something else due to how complicated her actual design is.

I may need to look for some safety eyes. Adding eyes via embroidering always looks a little weird to me. :(

I like the 2 crochet character dolls you made a lot, Megan =D
The others look pretty good too =3

I made a couple Pokemon Mega Construx sets that had been lying around for quite a while. Squirtle, Snorlax and Galarian Ponyta:

Spoiler:

Here's Bulbasaur and Charmander as well, made these like a year or two ago:
Spoiler:

And here's something more seasonally appropriate:
Spoiler:

It's a Lego Gingerbread house I made 2 years ago, Lego Gingerbreadman included! =3

Got another one done. I like the base but unfortunately there's no tutorials for clothing so I tried to adopt some other tutorials with mixed results. ^^"

It seems like I'll always take about a month for a doll. I still have 3-4 other ones in mind.

Finished two more. I still have one more I want to make. And then I'll probably check out some other stuff. Haven't really decided on what exactly, though.
They look like amazing dolls, I would love to have the skills like you to create one from some thread, sadly I have commitment issues
While there are some pitfalls you can fall into; it's actually not too complicated. If you know the basic stitches and you have the tools it really just comes down to following instructions.

I wouldn't even call it skill. It's mostly just the same base doll model with some minor changes and a bunch of improvisations whenever I made a mistake. ^^"

I tried finding some Umbreon crochet stuff. But so far it's been not so great. This one's head for example is too heavy so it always falls over...

Also: I'm not particularly into creating stuff with plush yarn. It's actually quite a bit harder than regular one. ^^"

I made a Glaceon pixel art thingy today from 1 x 1 Lego like pieces.
I did not make the patterns. I made the Alolan Sandshrew/Sandslash long ago and Eevee a couple months back and today finally made the Glaceon.

Not sure why the images insist on being rotated after uploading here... they weren't rotated on my phone's camera at all. Anyway:

Not sure why the images insist on being rotated after uploading here... they weren't rotated on my phone's camera at all. Anyway:
When you make a photo with your phone it actually stores some extra data. Among that is also the image orientation which is why it shows correctly on your phone.

When you upload that image to PC the forum probably removes that extra data. That's not a bad thing, mind you. PC does that because the extra data could potentially include some private stuff you wouldn't want on a public space.

I usually run into that problem, as well. The difference is that I put the pictures into a paint app because I like cutting out the unimportant stuff. That also requires me to reorient the image, as well. Presumably because it removes the extra data. But I also have some tools that allow me to remove extra data if need be.

Happy to be back at this club, surrounded by toys. Megan is impressive at crochet, very neatly done work, love these big-headed folk and the colorful choices of yarn. I was especially tickled by the oversized shoes on the golden-haired one. I can't believe that the November doll was Megan's first crochet, it's super adorable. The glasses are a lovely touch. Pyra also really got my attention, that ones looks like it would have been hard to do because of all the detail needed for the character, you should be proud of yourself Megan! The one with the long magenta hair might be my favorite though, so pretty.

Rekoil's mega construx look slick! Love all the dynamic actions they also are captured doing, Squirtle working out, Ponyta by her grassy Pavillion , Bulbasaur's vine whips cracking and charmander breathing fire. I'm liking the nanoblocks, the peacock is majestic. The beautiful pixel art of glaceon and eevee and the Alolan sandshrew line hasn't escapes my eye either.

I have a creation of my own to share, this is Lady Tomoe, a Shiryaboshi dancer I made.

That is so cool! I wish I could turn the handle and watch our little blue planet in orbit there with you.

Incidentally, I was at Groove Store's US website just to see what was new, and if there were any bargains. While there I couldn't help but spot the latest release, a pullip doll for pre-order called Elphara. It's a cute doll, but what makes it especially neat is that it wasn't designed by the doll company, but a fan, who goes by the name of Yanfy. She is an illustrator, who repaints dolls and makes costumes as hobby, and never sold them before.

[PokeCommunity.com] Assembly Required [DIY Toy Hobbies Club]

Groove is very encouraging to doll lovers who want to use pullip and her family to make their own one of a kind creations. You can sell dolls you have modified, no rights problems from them, and they sometimes host contests to see who can customize the best doll, letting fellow collectors vote on their favorite. During these events the winning doll will become an official release produced on mass for the whole world to enjoy, and Elphara here was the grand prize winner of a 2022 contest, going on sale this summer.

I'd be interested in buying this once the price drops.

Congratulations to Yanfy for winning, she made a sweet doll, gives me Sailor Moon-like vibes. The theme is a nurse for the human heart, a being meant to comfort wounded souls and heal them inside with her goodness and magic. She was entered into the contest under the name Nightingale, as in Florence Nightingale.

Yanfy had this to say, "There is always a Pullip on my desk. When I'm tired, depressed, or irritated, I raise my eyes and look at Pullip, and I smile without realizing it. I thought Pullip was a being that healed me."

Groove needs to get better at advertising though, because I didn't even know the contest was happening until it was over. I wouldn't have entered, I'm not good enough, but I would have wanted to see all of the different dolls, and cast a vote at least. These three I hear were runners up, and they could have all been amazing dolls too. Thought I would share some cool creations by doll makers with this club

The artist Feb.la.campanura made this one, she's called "Empress of the World"

Another artist known as Milk Revolution made this girl, it was titled "Memory Doll."

I have one more by Fois Gras No. 222, a doll with the moniker "Mon Bijou"

Made some more stuff. I wanted to make a sleeping mask because during Summer it's just way to bright way too long. Didn't end up using it, though. Turns out it not only feels very uncomfortable. But it also doesn't mesh well with the heat. ^^"

The character I made is Mio from Xenoblade 3. It was way more work than I anticipated due to all the details. I even endup up researching how to tie a certain knot.

Love the crochet! I wish I had one. I would hold this little one close and give it a hug.

Came to share a cool model I see at the website for Studio Ghibli's official merchandise store, Donguri Sora. Last week a mini replica of the household where Mei and Satsuki lived From My Neighbor Totoro went on sale. Every single room is there to be put together. Of course, it's expensive but this is art! You can see more pics in the link below. There's tiny furniture you can put inside, bookshelves, desks etc, and the doors are designed to open, lights turn on, it's so perfect and lovely.

They also have sets for Howl's Moving Castle and Porco Rosso's airpline too. My favorite though is the Laputa one. The propeller blades even spin!
