Greetings,fellow fan-devs! ^^
I'm Damien, a newcomer, and in a few weeks I made customizations on the E.B.S. move icons for each type, EXCEPT the shadow type
( I made a mistake and the shadow move icon looks identical to the dark type move right above, and never corrected it because low on ideas ).
I'm sure you WILL find the icons of your taste!
Alright, but how do they look in-game?
In most cases the answer is : AWFUL!
The metapod evolving into butterfree in the bug-type icon is completely covered up by text;
The dark type move,when selected,will have the text as pitch black as the background;
Ice type looks weird by standard because I couldn't get the desired effect :| ;
Flying type has again the issue of text camouflaging with the background;
In the water type icons the golden shellder decal prevents text from camouflaging! In your face!;
How is text camouflaging in the psychic type icon?;
The electric type icon...actually, does KINDA good...
AND BESIDES, ALL THE DEVICES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ICONS ARE COMPLETELY RUINED BY THAT MONOCHROMATIC, BOLD, TRANSPARENCY-LESS TEXT!
...
Anyway,I decided to release this weeks-long failure right down here for you to use.To install it,you just put it in /Graphics/Pictures/EBS/Nextgen.
It's not compatible with Essentials DS or Essentials B&W, however you may edit them in by using image-editing programs.
CREDITING :
First off,I think I ought credit LukaSJ, the chap whom made E.B.S. and the icons I based my own icons upon.
As for this material, you may or may not credit me upon usage, your choice, BUT PLEASE DO, share the page link with others, for it'd definitely help.
You may also spin-off this material, in this case I'd type credit is mandatory for both LukaSJ and myself...perhaps you can do a better job and in a shorter amount of time.
OVERALL ANALYSIS :
Note : these are just descriptions of the icon designs, to download the icons right-click the thumbnail file down below and left-click "save as".

Spoiler:
Taken the gray from the Pokedex icon, painted over the EBS icon, given HSV and RGB noise, then oilified.
In the middle we have Arceus' beautiful ring, which I thought would fit nicely
(we can't be too sure how to represent this type anyway : one possibility might be the generic 6 points star from the
colourless energy cards in the T.C.G., one other possibility is the symbol looking like a O form unown)

Fighting:
Spoiler:
I literally painted a machoke's arm and used a bit of the cartoonify effect provided by GIMP2...
as for the background,I'm not too sure what I did there...a bare arm in heraldry represents an industrious person.

Flying:
Spoiler:
Aha!This one was the first I made!Sky-blue taken from the Pokedex icon, given HSV noise and oilified.
Those you see on the top and bottom borders are nebuly lines, representing clouds and air in general in heraldry,
given almost irrelevant quantities of transparency and Gaussian blur...perhaps I should have given those lines the grain merge mode and seen how it would've turned out.
In the middle I painted a wing and messed a bit with sharpening and cartoonify effect.
Wings in heraldry represent swiftness and protection.
Between the background and the wing there's a brighter blue spot, which could be either a roundel or either the sun in the sky.

Poison:
Spoiler:
I messed up whilst merging with a lava layer, but kept it that way since it looked kinda better.
The purple comes from the Pokedex icon(I think...I might have regulated the colour slightly). Can't remember much about the edits, sorry.
The hastily made skull and crossbones were obviously painted after Koffing and Weezing, and the colour comes from a Koffing sprite too.

Ground:
Spoiler:
Rather obvious. The horizon between a clear sky and a bare, uncultivated soil interrupted by a dugtrio popping out from below.
The sky blue is that of the flying type Pokedex icon, the sand-colour is that of the ground type pokedex icon .
I don't exactly remember what I did with these two colours, but the ground was covered with a "render lava" layer with a wood gradient and given proper transparency as you might see.
The dugtrio was painted with the same colours of its sprite, oilified and given a bit of cartoony effect.
You might think this design is lame, but not as much as the one above and, besides, it's actually inspired by a blazon featuring uncultivated soil, clear sky and the horizon interrupted by a tower.

Rock:
Spoiler:
The background is literally marble texture given a paint job and oilified.
Those two columns?Well...back in Viridian city, Kanto, Gary was busy distracting Ash by showing off his 10 badges,
so I took the chance to steal the nearby columns and give them the same paint job XP (although they turned out darker...FAIL!).
In heraldry, columns represent fortitude and constancy.
The colour I picked comes from the ground type Pokedex icon, but now that I mention it...
it reminds me of the architecture located on top of Mountain Coronet, Sinnoh, which I had scrapped earlier since the capitols were missing...

Bug:
Spoiler:
The green colour was taken from the bug type Pokedex icon, adjusted a bit, painted all over, given HSV and RGB noise (I think),
gimpressionist effect with certain settings, given noise again and finally slightly oilified.
In the middle I painted metapod evolving into butterfree(the old cocoon and the evolved Pokémon separately) with
the colour coming from the dex icon as usual(might have adjusted that one too) then oilified and given...
was it the grain merge mode?By the way you do, know what inspired evolution, don't you?

Ghost:
Spoiler:
Take a close look : when you see it, you'll evolve into flareon and spit flames!
The background colour comes from the Pokedex icon ( DUH! ) ,it was given noises, oil,
painted rock gimpressionist effect, maybe a bit of blur...or was it more oil?
Then a lavender-coloured fog layer with the level of transparency I saw fit.

Steel
Spoiler:
The usual colour from the Pokedex icon, in this case the noises were followed by a radial motion blur that gives it an industrial look along, given also by those bulks.
The bulks are bright paintbrush circles on a different layer that were given an emboss effect. But then the industrial look is interrupted by
unfitting stained, embossed shield, anvil and hammer. Themes that don't fit each other AT ALL but both perfectly fit the hard, cold steel.
In heraldry, both hammer and anvil represent the smith's trade, and the shield represents defense(duh) or the defender. The latter comes from gen5 games.

???
Spoiler:
Colour of the "???" type icon from the dex, RGB and HSV noises, in this case RGB noise being weaker and HSV being stronger,
given a certain amount of oilify and then given noise once again...seemed fitting to me.
In the middle there's an obvious recall to the RSE missingno., made roughly on purpose and oilified.

Fire
Spoiler:
You know the formula : noises and oilify. The flames from the motif are painted in
three different colours(I think I took them from cyndaquil's sprite) and oilified, with
their layer given grain merge and the proper amount of transparency.
The flame device in the middle is always inspired by heraldry, and here I used the oilify effect to its minimal extent.

Water
Spoiler:
WAVY LINES!Totally fitting!I don't really remember what I did with the effects,
apart the fact I originally wasn't willing to achieve this result, but enjoyed it anyway and went for it.
I do, remember rendering lava on the blue wavy lines, with a gradient called "caribbean blues" methinks.
The golden shellder in the middle was initially supposed to be a scallop...wait...scallop?WHO'S THAT POKéMON?!?
By the way, in heraldry a shell represents traveling to distant places or naval triumph.

Grass
Spoiler:
Two shades of green from the respective Pokedex icon, occupying one half of the EBS icon each.
I kept giving the halves a gimpressionist effect in hope to achieve the wood fiber-y look.
In the middle we have a generic tree, which can represent various things, depending also on the species.
In generic cases such as this one it may represent growth, life and/or connection of sky, ground and underground.

Electric
Spoiler:
Pokedex icon colour,noises,oilify.
On the sides we have squared thunder-like motifs with smooth edges(and pokedex icon colour).
I'm quite sure I gave them gaussian blur/oilify followed by a little emboss, grain merge mode.
In the middle we have a storm cloud with grain merge mode and, coming out of it,
light-blue lightnings taking the colour from the team Plasma blazon-shaped insignia,
also with grain merge mode and slight emboss.
In heraldry, lightning bolts represent swiftness and power.

Psychic
Spoiler:
Well, this wasn't really what I hoped to achieve.
The objective was to make curved book pages with a labyrinth-like pattern and an eye marking.
Of course, I lack the knowledge and skill to do such a thing.
The background is just a paper texture, the labyrinth pattern comes from
a gimp utility that generates a layer with a labyrinth pattern, I gave it
the same color of the eye marking, some blur and set the layer to the burn mode.
As for the eye, I might have given it some oilify or blur, nothing more.

Ice:
Spoiler:
The objective here was to make it look like a slab of engraved ice.
Brightest and darkest colors taken from the dex icon, used emboss effect.
It came out extremely glowy, but it's okay, could've been worse...
The snowflake engraving in the middle is based off the shape of Snowpoint city,Sinnoh.
The border engraving instead is based off that seen on the glass tables produced in the route 113 glass workshop, Hoenn

Dragon:
Spoiler:
Bi-color based off the dex icon.
I gave it whatever effect I had given to the ground type upstairs.
In the middle a lilac-colored roundel(color taken from yet an other icon) with the silhouette of dratini.
I chose dratini because it's the first stage of the first dragon-type evolutive tree we got to know,
and also because the dragon energy card from TCG kind-of reminds me of it.
