    Your cell phone numbers will go public about next month, be sure to register your cell number on the do not call list at The Do Not Call List as you will be charged for picking the phone up to talk to them...

    I think this is totally ludicrous that our numbers (private for the longest time), are going public... If ever I got a cell phone call from a telemarketer, I'd flame them to hell, regardless if they care or not. However there have also been hiccups with this system too, wherein people have been getting phone calls even after registering to the system... At least we can report these numbers...

    At least we have the choice of not picking the phone up... Let's just hope they don't text us though, as that will cost some of us money...

    EDIT: I'm trying to find a veritable source to back up this claim. Gah... It would appear that this was merely an internet email rumour, that while the above site is apart of the Canadian Government's actual website, the claim may not be true...

    I got a new cell phone earlier this year and for the first time started getting all sorts of telemarketers calling it. :( I wonder if Telus already sells its numbers out or something because it just seemed weird that I'd go 5 years with zero calls like that and then as soon as I update my phone... <_<;

    Anyway, it all stopped once I put myself on the no call list so it does seem to work, at least.

    We registered our home number a while back, but still receive the odd phone number, though I have never picked them up, so I don't know if it a part of the legit telemarketers that is listed on the website.

    My cell is with Telus as well, but haven't been receiving anything of the telemarketer sort... Only the awkward few wrong numbers a few times.

    I put our cell phones and our home phone (and my grandpa's phone XD) on the list when it first came out. So, no problem for me if it were real.
