Anyone have any idea why Aura Sphere is fighting type?

I believe it's based on chi?
Look at Dragon Ball Z for the easiest reference, those people don't have magical powers, neither is it mental, it's Ki or Chi.

I suppose its because Fighting types generally have a pretty poor range of moves to choose from, so they threw an awesome one in there to rebalance things a little.

Probably to fit in a special Fighting move, similar to Zen Headbutt and Psycho Cut. Neither of those make sense to me either.

Aura Sphere I think is like a chi. It is learned only by exceptional legendary pokemons since it is a powerful special Fighting-type attack with infinite accuracy. :)

No, people, it's aura, haha. The pokémon using it charges its aura into a ball, and throws it.
Hmm, it would be awesome if this move would change its type with the user's 'aura'. Better known as type, haha.
