When I see someone's avatar/signature, I tend to imagine them as being whatever creature/person/item is in those pictures. If whatever is in your avatar is something that I like, I inevitably will like you more. And if it's something that I don't like, I find it hard to like you. I really shouldn't be that way, but I am. (This, of course, really only applies to strangers. Once I know you really well, it doesn't really effect anything anymore.)

Is anyone else like that, and would you change your avatar/sig knowing that the way others treat you may be based on it?

do you see me as a grumpy woman/yelling yellow man?

Neither avatars or signatures play any role for me as to whether or not I like someone, or could like someone. Avatars and signatures are representative only of the part of our personality we like to present to others. But it only reflects a portion of our true selves. An avatar or signature online is similar to how a person, who meets someone for the first time, presents themselves in a way that they think is most appealing and positive.

I prefer to get to know a person first before I make a decision as to whether or not I like them. Too often people look at one aspect of a person, and judge them on that single aspect, as if it represents who they are as a whole. As far as I'm concerned, by doing this is, we are being unfair to the other person, and not really giving them the chance to show that they can indeed become a friend.

Sakura is more an ideal that I strive to be like than someone to whom I am similar.

That's a bad habit of mine. I remember thinking Lightning was a dude because she had her Sho Minamimoto theme on when I first got here (or started caring, but meh).

Generally yes, I recognize people on here by their avatar. And yes, I know I shouldn't like or dislike a person due to whatever's in that little box, but I do anyway because it's the only thing I see. I can't help it. It's human nature. No, I'm not gonna change mine any time soon, I like Trapinch. And Maxim Tomatoes. :3

I just have a picture of Rin in mine because it's cute, and my user title is like a caption to it, :P

The signature rarely changes, but when it does it's mostly random stuff in it, mostly......

I don't really view things like that. And if people viewed mine like that, I just think that is their opinion, but to dislike someone as you dislike their theme/avatar/signature... Bit harsh to me, but meh.

    Yea it does :/
Not personality wise its just like how professional you are and how mature i'd expect you to act on the site.
Example: (cos that was very confusing :P)
If you have a crappy avatar and no sig i will think you will be immature.
If you have an awesome and well made avatar and a kickass sig to go with it i will think you are mature and will trust you.

Also it also makes me think of what gender you are. like if your a guy and have a girl as your avatar don't take it personally if i think your a girl.

Unfortunately I am, but I mostly just judge a person's gender by their avatar/signature. If you've got a girly avatar, or one with a girl in it, then I assume you're a girl and vice versa.

This too, it makes me feel like a horrible person. xD But I'm learning that that's not always true.
(and as a sidenote, you have quite a kickass sig!)

    Well hi there! *batts eyelashes*

    >_<

If the person's gender is listed then no, I don't do this, I would look at the gender area first. But if that's not the case then yes, I tend to do this, I really shouldn't but it's just something that comes naturally. If the avatar or signature is a Pokemon then I determine on how cute the Pokemon is for the gender of the person normally, if it's a Togepi I think the person is a girl and also for the male gender, if it seems more masculine, you're male. XD

Men like looking at pictures of pretty/cute girls. Is there a problem with that?

I never determine gender from avatars/signatures. I am however very judgmental when it comes to these. I could care less about "who it is", but if the presentation is unappealing/ugly/etc., I would already have a bad judgment of them. Conversely, if someone has a really good avatar/signature, my initial opinion of them is already positive.

Being a simple question for people to respond to, I'll move this over to OVP.

For myself, I sometimes have a problem basing someone's gender on their avatar or signature, which isn't good I know, but I can't help it. ): I never judge them as a person though, whether I like their theme or not; I rather get to know them first.

As for my own themes, I use what I like - not what someone else likes for me. For instance, my themes since August have consistently been based on Guy from Tales of the Abyss. Since then, I've grown to like this character more and more, and plan to base more themes off of him. I'll change it to something else every now and then, but I like it for who he is as a character. Some may not, others might, but it's not for them to choose what I should use.

I'm curious. My sig is a girl, but it's from a metal song, and considering the color scheme, I expect it to give off a masculine vibe. Am I right?
