https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-7-remake-will-be-multiple-full-sized/1100-6438387/

If this is true then I honestly don't care about this remake anymore. At all.
I'm wondering how this even qualifies as a remake anymore. Seems a lot closer to a retelling, if anything, but this definitely isn't Final Fantasy VII built from the ground up. I also love some of the quotes, this one being my favorite:

"Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series..."

It wouldn't make sense, huh? Cool, cool. Hey, remember that one time you made that game and shipped it out, in full, in a single release? You know, the one about ex-soldier who was hired by a group of terrorists in order to save the planet from an energy source that was literally sucking it dry? What was that called again?

Oh, right. FINAL FANTASY VII.

Di-like, did something happen? Was Sakaguchi really the guy that planned every part of the games prior to XIII while the others just watched? Because the things these guys say sometimes absolutely boggles my mind.

You know what they could have said? They could have said that in the original release, so little time was devoted to developing places and characters that they wanted to make entire games focusing on those...discs, I suppose. I wouldn't have any problem with them making 1 game that focuses on- well, pretty much anything from disc 1, especially AVALANCHE.

Now I, personally, have no problem with the episodes being full sized games, especially if each disc is an episode and there's more development and content than the original had- it had a lot of room for improvement and expansion, after all. Of course, a single release'd be ideal, but they've already committed to an episodic release, and thanks to the money they're pushing into FFXV, if that doesn't work out this is the only way that they'll be able to recoup, especially after the statement they made about what would happen if XV fails. FFVII has always been an ace-in-the-hole, and I'm hardly surprised that they'd exploit that. That's business.

My problem is the fact that I have no idea what this multi-episode release entails. They've said literally nothing about what it means for the story, storytelling, how many episodes it'll be, the content, what content'll be available across which games, so on and so forth, so in no way can I call this a good thing. That they're so mum about this creates skepticism among fans about the game- their emergency cash grab that should have guaranteed millions sold. And when they make vague statements about its release process and the gameplay. they do themselves far less favors than should even be possible.

That they're treading dangerously corrosive ground with this is kind of amazing.

EvilChameleon here, bringing you the hottest rumors, such as the first teaser for the next Battlefield game being released today. Possibly.

I wonder of VN's or Visual Novels are counted as "Video Games" in terms of PC's standards.

If so, well, here's some Tsukihime Remake related stuff that I'll share since its something i grew up with (that includes the accelerated physical puberty)

Spoiler:

New Arcueid. Dat short skirt and long stockings. Hmmm makes me a happy XinGuy.

Hmm FF VII Remake.. discussions about this seemed to die down unless someone mentioned it.

So i was playing CSGO the other week via a friend's account who let me play a few rounds while he went to the grocery store, and I said something about some guns being really bad compared to the meta weapons (AK, M4, Deagle, Tec9, AWP). Apparently, I forgot something. Why was I owning some 20+ year old college kids/terrorists with my Based CT-Aug? I forgot that i actually use the weapon scoped more often than straight up hip firing, which fits my style of "Defensive Offense". The AUG actually has a lot of stats that people tend to overlook but then again, it still has the lowest damage per hit among the ARs in the game, with the long-arse reload time.

This current version of CSGO is making me feel sorta happy. It must have been fun ELO boosting my friend. Lord Gaben pls don't ban me for ELO Boosting.

How big is a full game these days, though? In the so-called AAA industry you're lucky to get 10 hours out of most titles, and even JRPGs, which have historically been titans in terms of the sheer amount of content they pack into them, have been clocking in at around 40 hours at most recently.

Now, I realise that quality is not measured solely by quantity, but when Square Enix of all people say "full game" that could mean ANYTHING. This is the company that won't stop screwing us over with smartphone releases nobody wants, delays upon delays upon delays, announcements of announcements, and consistent butchery of franchises. This is the company that doesn't think the things people like will sell. It's worrying.

That said, I'm half hoping they'll retcon FFVII so that I'll actually like it. I'd love to see references to Crisis Core - or, more specifically, Genesis - in the remakes. The compilation of FFVII is a complete clusterfuck right now, and this remake is giving them a great opportunity to tie all the loose threads together that they've made since the original title was released. I doubt they'll take it and do a good job with it, because this is Square Enix, the RPG version of Konami. But it's a possibility.

Until I actually get a release date I could give a damn less about this. We been hearing about a Tsukihime remake since the golden days of Hattori Hanzo and pictures aren't enough for me at this point.

I think my dislike of Ram and Rom stems primarily from CFW Trick in Neptunia Mk.II...I can't help but be reminded of him every time I see them. They did it AGAIN in the anime, too...urgggh.
What did you not like about pervert gentleman? xD

And what else would they be?

Mostly, the licking. It was...disturbing. VERY disturbing.

As a side note, I'd consider visual novels as games, but only if they have some form of interaction, be it branching pathways or whatever else. Otherwise it's just like reading a comic online. Since most VNs have something like that, though...yeah. Games. Far more so than walking simulators.

(Quoting colored text was NOT working out for me for some reason, my fault y'all)

I had meant to say "MUH INTERACTIVE BOOKS: but Melo beat me to it and said it in a better way.

[PokeCommunity.com] Back to the Grind(stone)

My favorite part in any Action RPG such as Borderlands. Having a back pack full of weaponry and a head full of wrath. And that Green Hostile Stinger SMG is doing a lot of work just bodying a lot of fools. And when you are money capped, just keep every decent piece of loot. You'll never know when you need to switch to that Corrosive SMG to take out the right opponents.

Speaking of Borderlands and Action RPG style games.. if i were designing my own version of Borderlands or something, I'd make my mastery/talent trees. Here's what i thought of:

Stock images used belong to their respective owners. Please excuse the poor quality but yeah, something that i just thought off..

Warhound (Elite Marines of the US Army with obvious references to 80s-90s action movies and vidya games) Skill tree
[PokeCommunity.com] Back to the Grind(stone)

Rip and Tear = Close Quarter Combat, Melee combat and damage, Ferocity, SMGs and Assault Rifles
Man and a Half = Tanking, Resistances, and Survivability
Cooking with Gas = Energy Weapons, Area of Effect Damage, Explosives

Siren (Females with mystical powers, definitely not Arcueid) skill tree
[PokeCommunity.com] Back to the Grind(stone)

Banshee = Isolation, CQC, Survivability, Melee combat
Sister of Battle = Supportive Auras, Field Control, Use of Revolvers and Heavy Pistols
Nightraven = Assassinations, Acrobatic moves, Sniper Rifles, Silenced Weapons

Haven't thought about the passive nodes yet since icons are hard to make.

Pretty sure there wasn't much fun to be had on the battlefield, so I wouldn't say they're particularly realistic in any sense, aha. It's been a long time since I played any historical war games, though...not since one of the first Call of Duty titles, I think. One of these days I might actually buy one that isn't so multiplayer focused, just for the experience. It's not that I dislike them, it's just not something I'd typically play. Good to get out of your comfort zone every now and then, though! :3

...and there's another idea for a topic I might post later. Derp.

Interrupting your delicious chat with some Xin made skill trees for a character class (No nodes yet though): Also, maybe i should take up a short course on Game Design after i graduate. Who knows, i might end up devoloping vidya games more than i end up being in charge of recruitment and selection.

Class: Avatar (In-game leaders of the battle field who are obviously inspired by Fire Emblem. Specializes in Energy Swords, One handed firearms, and Tomes). Character class for people who prefer to fight with tactics rather than raw brute force (Warhound) or hand-eye reflexes (Siren)
Spoiler:

Tactician: Skill tree that focuses heavily on air support (Air Strikes) and devastating energy magic.
Noble: Skill tree that focuses on supporting the team with Inspirational Auras, healing, and survival
Radiant: Manly as feck. Skill tree that tells people to be a "leader", you need to fight like a real man.

Also, a really good heavy single player focused FPS would definitely be Wolfenstein: The New Order since ITS ONLY SINGLE PLAYER. What i love about TNO is that while it only features a single player campaign, the single player campaign for the most part is definitely done well. I remember the explanation of not having any MP on the game since the devs (idsoftware, aka OUR GODS AND GODDESSES) felt that having both SP and MP on a game would feel inefficient. So there's none of that sense of diversion of resources. Also, its a game of killing Nazis turned up to 111x, with some of the most murderous means ever. Who doesn't love killing Nazis? If you feel that Nazis should be given pity and remorse, I'm on to you people ;)

Contrary to some belief that most people would think of me, I actually enjoy First Person Shooters more on Single Player form than on Multiplayer since I get to be more immersed in ripping people and demon's groins off. Multiplayer can be very taxing especially when i push myself to higher rankings and placements. I lose that whole immersion of groin ripping like a real effin maniac and be more concerned with my sweet delicious KDA and the tasty "VICTORY" in multiplayer, even in something like in Counter Strike and CoD4 where i used to body a lot of fools before i converted most of my MP competence on something else. Currently, my Multiplayer concerns are already on MOBAS. Battleborn though might be that game where the two greatest things ever (according to myself) are combined into one sweet delicious bloody meatball. Sorry Tracer (and Overwatch)

Co-Op campaigning is fine though. Its just as immersive, and the partners who kill demons/aliens/zombies/ and/or nazis together, bond and stay together. I remember some fond memories of me and my cousin playing Halo 1 on my cousin's OG XBox years and years ago when we visited them in Maryland and everything about Co-Op Halo 1 was joygasm.

I'm sorely tempted to pick up a Wolfenstein title again actually, since it's always been a series that has never made any pretense at being anything other than what it is - a game where you blast stereotypical Nazis into atoms. I don't think it's supposed to be taken seriously, unlike series like CoD that have always tried to carry themselves with this ridiculous sense of gravity and self-importance that requires a suspension of disbelief I'm not willing to be part of, because they're trying to market themselves as historical war simulators. Don't get me wrong here, I don't HATE the series. I just can't get into the right mindset to enjoy it because of this...and because I like immersing myself in fantasy worlds when I play games. I don't care for any "realistic" games really.

Plus I had Wolfenstein 3D on GBA as a kid and I loved it. It was my first FPS. It was hard. I sucked at it. But I still enjoyed it.

Single-player FPS titles are totally fine; it's nice to shoot things instead of hack them to pieces every now and then; Borderlands has always been a great series, and I've enjoyed first-person stealth titles like Dishonored and BioShock as well, which give you a few more options. The fantasy setting makes it more appealing, in my opinion. I can lose myself in those. With stuff like Call of Duty I'm not entirely sure WHAT I'm supposed to be playing. Is it supposed to be realistic or isn't it? People need to make up their minds.

Co-op on current gen would be better if you weren't expected to pay for it. No co-op is worth the PS+ subscription, and nor are the crappy free games they offer you every month, so it's off-putting.

So, I went to Internet and searching "coming soon" WW2 games, Battalion 1944 and Days of War seems interesting to me. Certainly looks like a great war game with good optimization of graphics. But the biggest problem I face in these online games is servers.

Well, not many players around the region I live has server for this game, which local server might be rare and I have to play high ping server like in US. Kinda sucks when this happens.

In the mean time in CS: GO, I got 8 kill streak in causal match, seems like a small achievement for me ;)

Ahhh the Ninties and the era of Doom and its clones. Oh how i loved ya. We didn't need any of these War Simulations. All we needed was Guns. Big Guns. EVEN BIGGER GUNS. and of course some demons, zombies, T-Rex tentacle terrors, colleting Red-Blue-then Yellow key cards, navigating through beautiful level designs, and a whole load of foul language to enjoy a first person shooter. Doom, Quake, Duke... We salute you. Oh and Halo, because you are part of my developmental years.

Ya know, sometimes i feel like i wanna join the army. Its basically like FPS except with better graphics! But what happens if I lag out there, I'M DEAD! And there's no respawn IRL. -FPS Doug 2005. Still relevant. Still standin.

Its funny how Call of Dudes went from being World War II, to Modern Warfare, and then straight into Fantasy Futuristic Land (As of Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3) because Activision and the CoD Devs knew that Call of Dudes was never a "HYPER REALISTIC" game because coding a game to work like that can be easily done, but the gameplay would be AIDS (Imagine an FPS game where EVERYTHING WRONG about using firearms is there like gun jammings, overheating, failed chamber releases... HYPER REALISM). They did everything that they can to make them playable. I personally love the Modern Warfare theme because its a theme that's actually quite close to IRL, and I would have loved to see some stories involving the good ol MURICA fighting against Chinese Commie bastards trying to take our muthapudding seas and territory (If anyone's like a mainland Chinese living in the China Mainland, well be prepared to be offended as heck if you can't take satirical posts). LIKE MURICA VS COMMIES, AND WITH RELEVANCE TO POTENTIAL GLOBAL POLITICAL WAR DRAMA CRISIS (I can smell the whole USA vs China war brewing from my Southeast Asian territory). MURICA!!!!!!! DEMOCRACY!!! SUPER FREEDOM!!! UNCLE SAM!!! KILL THESE COMMIES AND LET THEM TASTE THE RED WHITE AND BLUE STRAIGHT OUT OF MY DEMOCRATIC COCKTAIL!! WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! but then again, Activision's business model of releasing a new Dudes game every 2 years with the same copy-pasted code just passed around like underwear (ewww Xin come on!). Also, lets add this. With around so much Call of Dudes games, they never even bothered to add actual MEATY anatomy to the characters in Multiplayer (because its so realstic to kill someone with 3 bullets to the kneecap), BUT IN NAZI ZOMBIES, the ZOMBIES have actually well crafted video game anatomy with body multipliers and actual limb factors. ACTIVISION, TREYARCH, AND WHOEVER THE FF is behind the other CoD line PLS!

Now I'm waiting for Painkiller Hell & Damnation to install.

I would think that, Call Of Duty was a good game, quite immersive, great WW2 weapons. Then COd 4 even better than previous games, better graphics, mordern weapons, good multiplayer that you can just spam your LMGs.

But when it goes to further games till Mordern Warfare 3, I starting to get bored, the price for the games are really, expensive. Sometimes I do wonder, should I get it? I read the reviews, watch the gameplays, but it does not makes me attracted to it, indeed the games are far less attractive now.

Honestly, the discussion as a whole bothers me. Walking Simulator or VNs are both (usually) interactive media. But they aren't games. I would not call either of them a genre or subset of games. I will gladly say that Danganronpa or Zero Escape are games that are also VNs, because there's game there. But I think, like...comparing my favorite Walking Sim, The Stanley Parable, to my favorite non-game VN, Steins;Gate, there's a clear disconnect between interaction and gameplay, and I kind of think that that's something we're quick to call something that has choices in a narrative that moves to our pace "games" because...well, there really is nothing else like it. Calling VNs and Walking Sims "games" just makes sense in that regard.

And I did originally agree with you when I was making this post in regards to interaction, but I really think that depends on what that interaction is. Because if we took something like Long Live the Queen, which is a Princess Maker VN, and took out the studying and how to spend your day, I think that would still be considered a game because it has a win-state, a lose-state, and your choices have agency over such. Looking at 999, though, I think that can be described as a VN game or just a VN, all depending whether you're playing the DS title with puzzles, or the mobile port without them, respectively.

Which is kind of why I've started looking at it as the term "video game" being limiting and antiquated or, conversely, there not being a term that covers visual media like VNs and Walking Simulators specifically (as "interactive media" is a bit too general and can cover many things, video games included).

CoD fell flat after Black Ops. After that, I was like "Ehhhhh". MW3 was garbage, BO2 was alright but eh, Advanced Warfare was decent but nothing really appealed to me. BO3 seems fine but I'd have to play it to gauge. I can't run it on my PC though. :(
