I wouldn't say my standards are that hard to see. I don't want localization that makes the game accessible to western audience through content. I want localization that makes the game accessible through language. Without additional gimmicks. And without English dub, but that's somehow necessary.
And regarding that article, it's the guy that was responsible for localization of RB2 and 3 (no big problems there) but especially Neptunia U (which made IFI kick him out), there's no way his opinion about proper localization could be considered valid.
Well, of course you would say that, because they're your standards! xD
I think I can see where you're coming from though, even if I definitely don't agree with you for the most part. I mean, what do you do if these things just don't translate? You can't really properly encapsulate a lot of elements of Japanese culture inherent in the language and tone by straight translating the text...

Nah, I feel you. I just think that in comparison, Konami is just....well, I won't say irredeemable but that's close enough to what I'm thinking.
Hmm...asides from Castlevania, I honestly don't care about Konami at all, which might be why I'm more harsh on Square Enix - they're responsible for a lot of different franchises I like. I'm more invested in their series, so they're substantially worse to me.

After weeks of opening all those red chests... and i didn't even get the most GG of Hellfire SMGs but its better than none at all. The fire rate could be a lot better since a 12.5 FR Hellfire would definitely be any SMG Siren's GG end game firearm.

Those who play/played Borderlands know how deadly a Hellfire can be.

Konami has pretty much closed their doors and Castlevania hasn't been good for years.

No big loss.

Translate them literally and destroy the original novelty, of course! That's how you properly localize a game!
Complete. Global. Penetration.

I would miss Castlevania more if it weren't for Bloodstained...which I'm getting a physical copy of for my Vita next year. There are other Metroidvania titles like Axiom Verge, too. Which, now that it's come to Vita, I am going to buy. At some point.

Yeah Bloodstained is gonna be HOT yo.

I care enough cause MGSV but then again I only really cared for Kojima. We aren't getting Suikoden ever again, MGS is done and I refuse to play another one of those unless it's from Kojima, and to be quite honest I can't even stand Yu-Gi-Oh anymore. All the things I used to like are now just dead weight aside from MGSV.

In regards to SE...well, FFXV looks stellar and NieR Automata is getting bought Day 1. And I love FFXIV, so I can't sit and act like I have something against them when I'm enjoying the games I'm playing from them.

I'm on the complete opposite end, hoping that the Wii U eShop is available for the NX, so I can play both on tuat. Of course by then hopefully a proper Metroid comes along.

On another note, new character trailer for Zero Time Dilemma is out. Won't post it here, far too much gore

I wouldn't mind Axiom Verge on the N3DS, actually. I just prefer these Metroidvania style titles on handhelds, haha. I think they probably will make the NX backwards compatible, though - if nothing else, Nintendo are pretty good with that stuff, and there is no reason for them not to. Although that said, I did hear rumours of Wii U remasters for the NX the other day, so...perhaps not. Who knows.

I've just about given up on getting another proper Metroid title anytime soon...we haven't had one since Corruption in 2007, after all =/

I interrupt your everyday banter about VG companies and your ongoing debates with my random stuff:

So a friend of mine got Borderlands 1, and we are doing some Borderlands 1 CO-OP Action and holy SMGs its fantastic. He's playing his Soldier and I'm playing my Berserker. Its been a while since I played CO-OP FPS with a friend and actually planning out things before going all all MAN blazing is quite amazing.

If you were on PS3, I'd totally play it with you...as long as we weren't doing the Moxxi DLC. Because getting the trophies for that put me off ever playing it again. It took me something like twenty five hours to do all of it...ugh.

I should go back to the Pre-Sequel somewhen...and pick up Tales of the Borderlands when it gets a physical release at the end of next week. The £15 price tag makes it rather appealing, too.

Man all this Bo'duhlanz is making me want to turn it on myself. I still need to beat 2.

I'd really wish as well. A lot of people play the BL games on console and I'd definitely be the team's man screaming maniac XD. The price of me being dat PC Elitist

I remember how Moxxi DLC is rather Aids while Knoxx and Abandoned Badlands DLCs are where some of the really OP weapons are, like dat Ajax Ogre.. and that thing on an Explosives-Tank berserker investment... hmmmm which is why I rerolled as Brick for my co-op action with my friend's Roland.

ToB is actually pretty interesting. I'm thinking of getting it me-self.

Also, an SMG Siren (With that sweet +52% SMG damage class mod) even with a crappy Hellfire like the one i have is doing a lot of work. I'm about to kill the Destroyer in order to get to PT 2.5 and finally get to super end game.

Also preparing for the rest of the games. BL2 and Presequel have some really sick class trees. Axton and Salvador come to mind as really newbie friendly first characters with Axton having the most straightforward skill tree I've seen among the cast, and I'd probably be playing either Athena or Wilhelm on PreSQ

speaking of hype....

Prepurchasing Overwatch will also give me Tracer in Heroes of the Storm, as she is one of the newest heroes entering the Nexus.. and Dehaka, but no one cares about that smug muthapudder

I mean, what do you do if these things just don't translate? You can't really properly encapsulate a lot of elements of Japanese culture inherent in the language and tone by straight translating the text...
You either leave it in Japanese (obvious better opinion =D) or literal translation.
Anything that would prevent losing the original meaning due to Englishing.

Spoiler:
And in the end, she's actually transgendered Aoi =D

Now that's just silly, then that means Aoane is their child too.

That's why we created the...uh...the, um...

...The "True Fan Initiative"! Yeah! It goes like this:
Learn Japanese
Import

This way you get both the original novelty AND the original meaning!

As far as ZTD goes, been avoiding pretty much everything. Save for some unavoidable thumbnails, I still don't know who's gonna be in. Pretty much the opposite of DR3/V3, which I'm eating up. But it's a lot harder for the latter to give anything away like that.

Glad to hear about the gore, though. I suppose ZTD might be more of what Uchikoshi wanted ZE to be from the start. Hopefully, though judging even from the original CG that seems to be the case.

PLEASE SELECT YOUR VAULT HUNTER!

[PokeCommunity.com] Back to the Grind(stone)

Imma be making a topic about character selection soon. i couldn't find any good picture that shows all of the characters (or the respective player avatars) that are as colorful, as diverse, and as appealing as a bunch of Vault Hunters.

So far, I got Crysis 2 campaign done... now it is time for Crysis 3. But before that, I need to finish up the Witcher 3 I just recently got. It is very great graphics great gameplay and controls, you can attack and block, beside counterattacks and short spells are great too.

I'm not sure about the Dark Souls because it is not my favorite, but will try that too.

Also aiming for Afterdark, Stranded Deep and Overwatch. These alpha release games are not bad I think, With good price, I could wait till discount sales to get cheaper price.

What you describe isn't localisation at all. You might as well just import it...and you'll never get the original meaning anyway, because you're not Japanese, so aspects of the culture will be utterly lost to you =/

On the subject of spoilers...yeah, I tend to avoid them. I know my tastes well enough by now to not need them. Most RPGs I can buy blind. Most. Mugen Souls, Time and Eternity and, more recently, Dungeon Travelers 2, are three of the biggest screw-ups I've had with this. But when I can count my screw-ups on one hand, that's not bad going.

Hate spoilers, myself. But I'm pretty good at avoiding them. I know where not to look, trigger words, what could lead to potential spoilers, so on and so forth. Hell, I probably could've held off on playing Undertale for another year and not known what a Papyrus was.

But yeah, they can really hit my enjoyment of a series. Not a fan in the slightest.

The best are people who complain about spoilers they find looking through dedicated forums/channels/reddits to that specific thing.
