Chit-Chat: Back to the Grind(stone)

Sometimes I feel like buying games on Steam is just cementing the fact that I'll never play these games. I got the Bioshock trilogy quite a while ago, and I never even installed them. They're not that long, so I could finish all three in a week probably, but buying games on Steam always puts my motivation at zero.

My friend and I had a chat about remasters and remakes not too long ago but I forgot what the heck we said since even he wanted to play some of dat Overwatch. Well he didn't have any money to get the game so I let him play with my account vs the AI. He wasn't a bad Roadhogg though, but I could tell he would probably go support since he knows that one can't just go Rambo of Duty in the game, like how he was in CoD (well both of us were. Our tag team was basically Ahnuld and Rambo)

I was goading him to say something about some of dat Infinite Warfare since its something i wanted to personally hear from him. Too bad i think he wasn't in the mood to give an opinion about such.

Well there you go folks. You were all not shocked anyway when the Bioshock collection finally came true.

A man is entitled to be glory killing Big Daddies though. I wanna see Bioshock guy punch and maim a Big Daddy to death but obviously Bioshock isn't all about fatalities. We already have a game for that >: D

I have to admit, a couple of times I've come onto my laptop fully intending to play a game on Steam and I've ended up going on here or Discord instead...but I've been doing this for a lot longer; it's going to take time to get back into PC gaming again.

...but god, after Dragon Age on Friday (I get paid on Friday) I need to STOP for a bit. I've got over 20 games now already and my backlog is horrific enough as is >.>

I've got no new games so far, as I resisted buying that $20 cache of games at the last minute, thanks to my internet fucking up.

I still have to download nearly 20GB of games, and that's without Dragon Age...I might have to wait until I go to my grandparent's house. Or spread it out over about a month. My internet is potato.

[PokeCommunity.com] Back to the Grind(stone)

at this particular moment in time i have no other deep and healthy relationship with any other boomstick in this universe other than the Doom 4/DOOM 2016 Super Shotgun. The sound it makes when said firearm is fired. The animation it plays whenever the two barrels are reloaded. The speed and rate of fire. The power it deals. <3.

So i'm just here browsing for some old PC games that are being warehoused.

I'm looking forward to playing Doom on my PS4...around my birthday, when it will have dropped in price sufficiently for me to either ask for it or buy it myself. xD

In other news, I just dropped £30 on a nice pair of headphones for my laptop, so there is that. I also cheated and used my GAME reward card points to fund my need for Dragon Age Origins on Steam >.>

Also, someone, anyone; help me pick a handheld RPG to get stuck into. I'm so spoilt for choice and I have no idea what to pick, other than that I shouldn't pick another tactical RPG after losing 30 hours in Fates.

This is so relatable! I have like 5 different games half finished, but everytime I start up the PC, I end up at Discord + someones Twitch stream ;p

If you have a PSP, Jeanne D' Arc is one criminally underrated title. There's also Radiant Historia for the Nintendo DS.

Then again, there's also SMT4 but then again that's just me being super ultra biased towards it ^o^

********************

I forgot to ask thread if they knew other forms of badass boomsticks that could match with the super smexy DOOM 4 Super Shotty. But then some of you who remember Bulletstorm may simply mention that beast of a weapon:

eeehhh its alright. But it relies too much on the over the top atmosphere and lore of Bulletstorm. It doesn't have the sexy simplicity.

Then again Bulletstorm is such a badass game because its one of those few games that actually took a jab at the whole "Call of Duty" military shooters if one could understand what was going on in a metaphorical sense. Bulletstorm was 2010's most "meta" game ever.

Boomsticks. So smexy. So obsessable. Then again, maybe its because out of all the firearms i have shot for recreational purposes, I got the best hits in the targeting range with a Shotgun.

Jeanne D'Arc has been on my to-do list for AGES now, now that you mention it...I bought Riviera instead when I saw it in a shop (I was younger then, cut me some slack...not that Riviera was all that bad) and I've just not got around to it yet...not even sure if you can get it on the PSN.

I'll buy SMT IV when it gets a proper release in my region, and not before. I'm not taking year-and-a-half late digital-only handouts ._.

I've reached a point where my backlog is too big for me to handle, and my unfinished games are almost equal to my completed/beaten games. God help me. It's only going to get worse, too...

Bioshock: The Collection finally announced. September 13th. Thank goodness.

(for example, Melissa Fahn is sassy as hell as Neptune; I don't get that from her Japanese VA)
And what this actually means? ;)
It means that you rewrote your own perspective in such way that you see Nep as a sassy character which is not the case in Japanese, original, version :P
Thus, it's a problem of perspective, rather than preference :P

I have no idea who that VO is so I don't know if it's her base voice or she's just like that in Neptunia, but Rie Tanaka shows how Nep should sound and act =D

So what you're basically telling me is that Hyperdimension Neptunia is a thoroughly crap series filled with bland Japanese voice acting that the English localisation team turned into a masterpiece without peer? You're arguing my case for dubs for me! :D

Is that the original Crysis? The last great PC game changer?

That's got to be one of my favorite games of all times. The new ones make me want to cry at how much Call of Duty has infected it and ruined what made it unique.

From YOUR point view, yes, that's what I'm saying.
Same goes for me. From my point of view, localization butchered the whole essence. ;)

Oh yeah, it's all a question of opinions, absolutely.

I guess I just tie perspective and preference together in this case; one determines the other, and vice versa, which is why I probably misinterpreted your wording earlier there. I think the one thing we CAN agree on is that they're completely separate things - especially in Neptunia's case - and that comparing the two in terms of dialogue is going to be purely subjective.

Neptunia is kind of a game where the rewritten meme script and dub gave characters more personality than they already had. Although not even that saved Noire from being a god awful tsundere, which is painful with her Japanese voice actor which is probably the worst VA ever. It's a bad localization, that's sure, but at least it allows us to enjoy it ironically, while the original is just... well... generic visual/light novel tier with bland and generic characters. Literally the only good thing about the Japanese version are Yuuki Aoi and Sawashiro Miyuki, and both are so minor that it doesn't really give you a reason to listen to the bland Japanese script.
