Bad EGG Removal in GBA
A "Bad EGG" is like a computer virus. If a Bad EGG ends up being a hatchable one, it will most likely corrupt your game if you try doing so. It can even corrupt your game just by simply having it in your party. I once had a Bad EGG that corruted my file just from opening it's summary page.
A "Bad EGG" can also be the direct cause to a certain bug, or any unexplained things happening in a game. Also, when I test certain games using cheat codes, I often intentionally make a "Bad EGG" just to try to sniff then snuff out a certain problem in the game.
The Only way to get rid of Bad EGG's in GBA ROM's is by using cheat codes.
- There are also other "ways" to manupulate cheats for Bad EGG removal.
- But, the Safest and Most Reliable way is by using the method below.
Thread Index:
* Fire Red Tutorial (w/ Leaf Green alternative)
* Ruby Tutorial-
In Progress, still on the hunt for inject code safe and worthy enough of full testing. Plus need to add Sapphire (M) alternative to post formatting.
* Emerald Tutorial
Additional Info *Important*
- If this happened without using cheats:
Spoiler:
This isn't as common in newer ROM hacks, at least from here. It's something more often found in the older games. Since then, creators have learned a good deal more about how games are structured and found ways to avoid it during the development stages.
Before Bad EGG Tutorial, I Recommend:
If this has happened to you-
1) First, go to the source of where that ROM hack came from.
.... if it's from Pokecommunity, Go Here: ROM Hacks Studio
2) Check to see first if the version you're playing is up to date. There are times when the problem you ran into has already been discovered with a fix applied to an update.
3) If you're playing the most up to date version:
.... a) Check it's most current pages, see if what happened to you has already been reported, with the creator's response.
.... b) If there's no reference from the creator regarding the problem you had- Post how and where it happened. The more information you can provide inorder to help the creator, the better.
- If this happened through using cheats:
Spoiler:
Before Bad EGG Tutorial, I Recomend the Following:
1) Delete *ALL* menu cheats.
2) If a lot of Bad EGGs- Store in BOX3 or BOX6 *Only* with no pokemon in them either.
* When doing Bad EGG removal, repeat the process 1 Bad EGG at a time until all are gone.
Please keep in mind:
~ Be Careful what cheats you use in casual gameplay.
~ Don't Ever have too many cheats running at once.
~ Some Cheats Also Require appropriate Master Code (M) and even a DMA Disabler as well.
~ After Using a Cheat: It's best to disable immediately after using it. All cheats vary on top of that.
